  • Did you mean fish is a great source of protein? Fish (and animal products) has no fiber. As far as protein -- go for leafy greens. 100 calories worth of leafy greens has more protein than 100 calories of ground beef. Granted, it takes a lot of chewing to eat 100 calories worth of leafy greens...
  • Haha - just reread my post. Should have said: week 8, day 3. So I guess by some standards I finished the regular couch to 5k? Onwards to 10k training. I'm registered for a 10k in October and I'd like to do it in under an hour.
  • I completed W3D8 of the run double program (walk 5, run 28, walk 5) and realized that other programs were different. I actually ran over the 28 minutes by a couple of minutes, so I may have completed the equivalent of other programs W3D8. I'm switching to the zen labs app and will be doing their 10k program.
  • Week 7, D1 done. 3 miles including WU/CD in 35 mins. I think by the end of this I'll actually be running the 5k in the allotted time which is awesome.
  • I agree, running outside is so much more enjoyable than running on the treadmill. It is a bit hellish/boring on the treadmill but outside running is amazing =) Finished W6D1 today and felt pretty good about it. Including WU/CD I did 2.7 miles in 33 min. I'm slowly getting there. I like using Strava to track my runs because…
  • W5D3 done. I felt great and like I could have pushed myself harder. I forgot to take my inhaler with me though, so I didn't want to push it too much. I'm starting right with W6D1 tomorrow (I like to run T/Th/Sa/Su) because I got a little off schedule last week.
  • I like the moving comfort fiona bra. I'm a 34D/32DD and it is comfortable and keeps the girl under control.

  • I wanted a vitamix for 7 years before I took the plunge. So so happy with my vitamix. I think it is probably my most used cooking appliance.

  • W1D1 for me today... going to have to start C25k completely indoors/on the treadmill because it is the height of allergy season for me. I think this should be a relatively easy day for me. I've done/started C25k many times before, but I always wind up giving up on W5D3. Something about 20 minutes at a time just seems…
  • You are almost certainly being too critical. Anyway, look at my profile picture. That's a 12 lb difference (I'm 5'4) when close to goal weight. Small changes in weight make a huge difference on short ladies, especially once you are near BMI 25 or so.
  • Claritin-D is the answer. Also, showering/rinsing off whenever you come in from outside. I limit my workouts to the gym on high pollen days. Wash your bedding and vacuum/sweep your house. Having a relatively pollen free indoors will be very helpful for your overall allergies.
  • I use the withings wifi scale which automatically sends my weight to both MFP and beeminder. I also use beeminder for tracking my other fitness goals. In the summer I use strava to track my longer (20+ mile) bike rides, but if I'm just biking short distances I usually don't bother.
  • 1) I likewise did not change my name. Nor will I. I think that it is ridiculous that a woman is expected to change her name, and I'd never have married my husband if he were the type to insist on me changing it. 2) I hate wearing jewelry. For special events I might put on my rings, but I'd say I'm ring free 90% of the…
  • Unfortunately, this :-( I can literally eat a jar of PB in one sitting if it is around.

  • "Under a 1994 federal law, supplement makers must submit some kind of safety data to the F.D.A. if they plan to introduce new ingredients to the market. And manufacturing-practice rules require them to make sure their products contain only the ingredients listed on the labels, with no hidden substances. But, unlike drug…
  • I didn't realize that this would be such a contentious subject for some users of MFP. If you'd like to spend your money on DMAA go right ahead and do so. I still think that the supplement industry needs to be more heavily regulated in the USA. DMAA has been outlawed in seven countries. "Health regulators in at least seven…
  • If you read the article you'll note that they give several anecdotes of healthy and fit people dying from taking supplements that contain DMAA. To imply that people are okay with smoking and drinking but not okay with supplements is pretty ridiculous.

  • I'd also like to join. Been in a rut ever since I fell down a flight of subway stairs in PT etc and it is getting me down.
  • Swimming is a good suggestion, though with my shoulder injury I guess I'll be using a kick board the entire time. I was on swim team in high school, so I am quite comfortable in the pool :-) I'd better shave my winter leg hair forest today and swim tomorrow.
  • Thanks for your response Mr (Ms?) Lube ;-) I know that I probably should rest it but I eat when I'm bored. The way I'd been fighting that is to exercise when bored instead of eating. So it is extra hard for me to control diet when I can't exercise.
  • Lasik... yeah, strange reward, but I'm so sick of contacts/glasses.
  • Lose as much weight as you can beforehand. Transatlantic flights have even less space in coach than domestic flights. If you can afford it book two seats or business class to be honest.
  • 160 here. I eat (or really just aim to eat) 1470 + (50-100% of exercise cals). I only count intentional exercise as exercise (i.e. I don't count my routine 2ish miles of walking that I do as a city dweller, but I do count time at the gym)

  • 27 - no kids here as well.
  • I'd advise using a food scale to actually weigh/measure your food. Sometimes a measurement like 1 cup can vary based on how tightly the food is packed etc. Using exact mass will be helpful. Also, 15 lbs in two months is great. You might just be at a small plateau, that time of the month, a little too much drinking at new…
  • I went from full on omnivore (maybe bordering on carnivore) to vegan when I was 19. I was fully vegan for 5 years, but now I eat fish when I travel. To be clear: this was always motivated by health reasons for me. I do a fair amount of international travel and I found that after one of my three week eurotrips I was just so…
  • Same here -- about 4 lbs =( Pretty sucky but I knew that I was eating way too much!
