' I am never opening up my diary. I've heard of too many negative experiences and seen too many people get their personal choices ripped apart.

Thanks. :) I'm a bit of a hypocrite, I'm always telling people here to get rid of the "diet mentality" and stop saying foods or good or bad. But deep down I still have those tendencies. I need to stop feeling guilty for eating things I like when they still fit into my goals for the day.

Vegetables definitely don't fill me up. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the taste, but if I want something that's going to keep me full for a few hours, veggies aren't it. :( Roast potatoes sounds yummy, though!

i would suggest trying to eat back at least some of your calories, to see if that makes any difference. Creating too large a deficit can stall your weight loss. But we won't know if it's something in your diet if we can't see your food diary, so you might want to open it up to see if anyone on here can help.

That is amazing!!! :) I want to be you when I grow up, lol. But really, that's my dream -- to be able to run a mile or more relatively easily. I have such low self confidence when it comes to running. I used to get made fun of for running slow, but now I see you have to start at a slower pace in order to progress.
-
I did try to run faster than usual...the most I did was 6 mph because I had heard that's the average running pace for most people. I felt like I was going so slow at my usual 5mph, but maybe I need to stay there until I can do more.

Couch to 5k is a little like what you described. You run in intervals, and the amount of time you run vs. the amount of time you walk changes from week to week. I'm only on the first week, so I have to run for a minute and walk for a minute and 30 seconds. There's a five minute warm up walk at the beginning and a cool down…

I'm not really an expert on this either, but I gather that with anorexics, they tend to eat little to no food -- say 200-800 calories a day depending on how severe the case is. Same with people starving in different countries -- they are literally not eating for weeks at a time, or eating very small amounts. People on here…

Awesome!!! :) I'm with you on the coffee, I don't use creamer or sugar anymore (now it's vanilla almond milk and truvia), but you will have to pry my morning cup of coffee out of my cold dead hands!

This. I've always felt this way, but haven't found many here who agree. :(
-
I'm sorry if I didn't phrase that correctly. I didn't have any strict criteria in my head, I just meant people who are more experienced and have been here awhile, as opposed to newer people like myself who are still at the beginning of their journey.

Thanks for responding, everyone! I didn't get the answer I expected. I assumed everyone would say that cheating was just eating unhealthy foods. Saying that it's not logging what you eat that counts as cheating makes WAY more sense.

You have a right to your opinion, but please don't be rude and dismiss mine. I can only speak from my personal experience and explained it as best I can. If anyone else sees where I'm going with this and wants to chime in feel free. If I eat too little, my weight loss stalls. And for me, I can eat a mix of healthy and…

That's not what I said. I don't know enough about the science behind this to argue whether or not starvation mode is real, so let's not go there. My point is, if you create the right calorie goal for yourself (for example, mine is around 1600), you can fill those calories up with whatever KIND of calories you want. It…

That is not true. Weight loss is calories in, calories out, plain and simple. It really doesn't matter what you fill those calories up with, as long as you eat the amount you're supposed to eat. Don't get me wrong, eating healthy is better for you overall, but in terms of just weight loss, it does not matter what foods you…

I don't, because for me this has to be how I'm going to eat for life, not a temporary diet that will stop when I get to my goal weight. That means eating whatever I like, whenever I like, as long as it fits into my calories for the day. I eat healthier overall, and definitely have more fruits and vegetables than I used to,…

I agree that people shouldn't make assumptions when someone says they're going gluten free. But, to play devil's advocate, there ARE people who go gluten-free because they equate it with a low-carb diet and think they will lose weight faster, and I understand why that would be irritating to people who know better and want…

Yep. This. It's not that you need to go the search engine every time you have a question. The problem is that it gets old REALLY fast when the same two or three questions are asked 5 times a day.

I used to have a WW scale and had that same problem. If it wasn't stuck at one weight for over a week, it would jump up and down by a difference of up to 3 pounds if I stepped on it a few times in a row. Unfortunately, they just don't make good quality scales. :( I bought an Eat Smart scale on amazon and it works MUCH…

Lol, I'm ornery, too! I try to just ignore her, but every now and then I get angry. She seems to want tips some days, she asked me what I was doing to lose the weight, and I was honest -- I told her I eat around 1600 calories a day, exercise a few times a week, try to eat more fruits and vegetables. I don't think she…

Fruits and vegetables, and lean protein to fill you up. Before dairy started breaking me out, I ate and drank a lot of it as a way of getting healthy calories that kept me full for awhile. Also, upping your calories might help you start losing again. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but if your weight loss has stalled…

I know it must be hard to lose over 100 pounds and still have 100 more to go, but if no one in your life has told you this before, you are absolutely amazing. It takes incredible discipline and strength to do what you have done and I applaud you. :) Whether you see it yet or not, you HAVE made an enormous and incredible…

Sorry, didn't mean to post that last reply twice! :(

I do seem to be losing differently, but I don't know what I'm doing that's causing it. I exercised the last time I lost weight, too, but it took longer to see a difference. This time I incorporated weights earlier on than I did before, but they're small, 5lbs. at the most, so I don't know if that's the reason.

Thank you! :) And if it's any consolation, judging by your profile pic you are anything but "round." You look amazing. But it must be harder to see it when you're surrounded by people who are even smaller and push their fitness on you. That happened to me in high school -- I wasn't overweight, but I was bigger than most of…

Then how does that explain all the people who come on here claiming to be severely restricting their calories but still not losing weight? Apparently having your weight loss stall because you're not feeding your body enough DOES happen.
-
Awesome! :) It's frustrating to feel like even when I'm busting my butt, I'm not doing it right. It's nice to know someone did it my way and got results!

My goal is to lose weight (I have a little over 20 pounds to lose) and build a little muscle so that when I get down to my goal weight I have some definition and I'm not flabby-looking. My college has a gym, and there's lots of hand weights in various sizes. I think there's a squat-rack, but I'm not entirely sure.
