tie your shoes TIGHT so you don't lose them. bring a friend or check your stuff. most mud runs have a place for that. wear clothes that are moisture wicking if you have them. no cotton or baggy clothes that will get weighed down. above all(IMO), plan to have fun! They are an absolute blast and you will be addicted. I know…

Why does one have to be *the life and soul of parties* to be happy? Another example of what is considered happy for one may not be the happy for another.

nothing disgusting about it. It made me sad for all she has been through. I saw nowhere in that article where she said she is *trying* to be obese. She is just not trying to be thin. Obviously it all catches up with us, I know that one personally, but I had high cal days prior to counting cals and actively trying to lose…

yep. and while it is my responsibility as a parent to try to teach self esteem to my children there are so many variables that I don't have control over. To even think as a parent you have absolute control over teaching these things or controlling them is delusional. and to think that your *teaching* is going to override…

bump for Saturday morning eyes too...

check out leangains for information on intermittent fasting. Personally I practice a 18/6 style, 18 hours fasting 6 hour feeding window. Works for me. Helps to keep calories lower, eating in such a short time frame, and i find that I am not fighting hunger all day long.

thanks everyone. duh...asking for the final 1 or 2 will be what I do. I should be fine until I up my weight on the last sets. that works. again....appreciate it.

I am constantly reading and typically have 2-3 books going at a time. my all-time favorites though? Gone with the Wind-Margaret Mitchell The Good Earth=Pearl S. Buck The Shining-Stephen King Those are three that I have read and re-read over and over again.

I eat ice cream still, or cookies, or cake. When my calories allow. Every night though I have a cup of Greek yogurt with a scoop of protein powder. lately I have been using chocolate flavor pp so it is like pudding. I add fruit sometimes, or even marshmallows or chocolate chips. yum!

I had twins. I used these types of restraints on them occasionally. If you feel you need one then use it, you know your children best. Screw what others think. The *don't leash your children* people are also going to be first to line up and criticize you should something happen to your child if you are *only* holding their…

I have been practicing IF since Thanksgiving of 2012. I use the Leangains approach and started with a 14/10 split and am now at a 16/8 split. It works for me. It works because I can more easily, and with more satisfaction, spread my calories in an 8 hour eating window than try to spread throughout the day. I also prefer not…

bumping to keep it going and to listen to later.

just talk it out beforehand and know where everyone stands. if they know you are going to give it your all and you leave them in the dust then they won't be upset. I did a mud run with a friend and we just agreed to stick together. which was fine. We ended up evening out I think, I could have gone faster in some areas and…

Could you have diastasis recti? A split of the abdominal muscles? Even a slight split or stretching can cause this effect. Google it and see if you do. The exercises to help improve it are different. but still doable on your own at home or the gym! I have had a singleton and twins with both being c-sections and I too have…

you look fantastic! and thanks for the reminder and inspiration that slow and steady is the way to go...in both running and weight loss!!
-
my first thought when I looked and thought, "Wear it or not?" was "why wouldn't you?!" you look great! wear it and rock it!
-
typically I log them. unless it is a starchy veggie I may not be as careful about measuring or weighing them though. when it will only be a few cal difference between a cup or a cup and a quarter I don't sweat it.

YOU LOOK AWESOME! Way to go my friend...you look great! what a wonderful example of the transformation that can be made with lifting.
-
Re-size Beeps! I want to see it!!!

this exactly for me too. and I say use whatever works for you so you know what you mean. :)

typically I log my day ahead of time. I eat the same thing for a nightly snack, with minor variations, so I can log that first thing. I normally know what I am going to make for dinner too so I get that in there and then see where i stand with calories and protein and then fill in for lunch and snacks. It works well for me…

your legs are gorgeous! thank you for the post. I know that lifting has made my legs look much much better. I sit sometimes and flex just to see what I have accomplished....LOVE what all those moves have done for my legs!

just keep at it. you will slowly begin to build speed. I too was sad when I got home and realized that my jogging was what was considered a fast walk. However I am doing something, which is always better than nothing, and I am enjoying it so I figure the numbers be damned....I am just gonna keep on going and see what…

I started using the meal plan. After a while I began to research and then practice intermittent fasting so now I follow calories according to that for me. I still focus on protein to make sure I am getting as close to the split recommended by Lou as possible.

well I did for a long time. Then my printer/copier ran out of ink and was out for a while. So I started just taking my book with me and using that. I have been working on Stage three for so long that I have it memorized. weights included. :) I have decided that I will do stage two one more time today when I go to the gym.…

crap...now I not only want some Nutella I want to see if I could eat a whole jar all by myself in one sitting too. LOVE that stuff!
-
I will be starting this stage tomorrow or Monday. I have sort of lost count on stage three but feel confident that I have done enough of it. We'll see how it goes because I'll be honest...stage 2 was NOT a fave of mine.

I had that problem just yesterday on a 5mile run/jog. I think for me it is form. I think I take short strides and it tends to tighten up. When I consciously made myself take longer strides my hip felt better and I felt more comfortable. not sure if that is helpful to you but I was surprised to find it worked to change my…

chicken, fresh mozzerella cheese(the soft stuff) and Greek yogurt. those are my main sources of protein. I try hard to not have to supplement and most days those get me the amount I want. which is 110+
