body recomp vs. weight loss

body recomp vs. weight loss. Which way would you go?

the IF calculator I use has me at TDEE-20% on rest days regardless of which way I choose.
For body recomp it puts me at TDEE+20% on workout day and for weight loss just TDEE on a workout day.

Thoughts on the differences? I guess I am not completely sure what the differences are. I am 5'6" and weigh about 175 now, down from 220. I do want to lose more weight but mostly want to be stronger and firmer and cut my overall body fat percentage. I am not in a huge hurry to lose, most days, because I want to take it off slowly. I just wonder which would be the right path.

Body recomp is a painfully slow process and I wouldn't recommend it. Best thing to do is cut fat down to a weight you're happy with, then bulk up to build muscle. Trying to do both at the same time will have you spinning your wheels. Also, whichever you choose, do not eat different calorie amounts on different days, I.E. TDEE+20% on workout days and TDEE-20% on non workout days. Your body does not work in 24 hour cycles perfectly. Eat the same amount of calories everyday. If you want to cut fat, eat at TDEE-20% everyday. If you want to recomp, eat at TDEE everyday. If you want to bulk, eat at TDEE+10% everyday.
