body recomp vs. weight loss
body recomp vs. weight loss. Which way would you go? the IF calculator I use has me at TDEE-20% on rest days regardless of which way I choose. For body recomp it puts me at TDEE+20% on workout day and for weight loss just TDEE on a workout day. Thoughts on the differences? I guess I am not completely sure what the…

spotting etiquette
So if I am doing 5 sets with 5 reps of bench press and need someone to spot me how do I handle this? I get that I need to just ask someone but do I reciprocate? do I still take rests in between? what is the right way to handle this? for one or two sets I am not too worried....but 5 sets I feel kind of bad about it.

Garmin? Polar?
Looking to get a fun fitness tool for my birthday in January. I lift three times a week but also love to get out and run. I will also start participating in mud runs and other races once the weather permits around here. I want to get not just a heart rate monitor but also something that can monitor pace and distance as…

race recovery?
I ran my first 8K today. my time was 1:05. my first mile was 11 minutes but then my pace slowed, obviously. I know that my time is by no means stellar but for me it is awesome. No known asthma or other breathing problems. Is there some way to work my breathing in better? in nose out mouth or something? any…

8K, my first one
So I just signed up for an 8K this weekend. Late registration, last minute decision. I know I can make the distance I have just never *raced* it before. I am not too worried about my time necessarily. I signed up to show myself I can do it regardless of time. plus I figure I set my time now and then beat it next time. I am…

Body Pump anyone?
I see so many other programs posted about....I just wonder if anyone else is doing any Les Mills programs. Body Pump, Body Flow etc? I LOVE my Body Pump classes and take 2-3 a week through my local Y. Flow is great as well and I look forward to getting brave enough to try spinning.

Mom of three, new here
I just started here earlier this week. One of the instructors at the Y suggested this place. I love it here! I try to work out at least 4 times a week. I am now *training* for a 4.85 mile obstacle course mud run coming up at the end of the month. I did one last month and LOVED it so I cannot wait to do another one. I am…

pretty confused
New here. I have been actively trying to change my lifestyle and eating habits for about a year or so now. off and on for longer. Since the beginning of 2012 I have started trying even harder. focusing on working out, exercising and making my body strong. Eating better is following suit. I workout at the Y and take a Body…
