  • My goal is to lose 200. I’m down 160 so far. I agree with you said about the mental part of the game. You can’t do this until that is in order. Could you please tell us more specifics about what you did? Even getting close to goal, I still always want to learn from peoples’ victories.
  • Melissa, I think you should aim at something that is a bit of a stretch to treat yourself with, not just something routine you might have done anyway. I am a middle age male, so what is a treat for me will likely be much different. However, I set intermittent treats for every 10 pounds lost after the first 20. For me, this…
  • I am new to the challenge, so I can be anywhere. I hope we get some kind of notice. Thank you.
  • I’m ready to give this a first go. I’ve already lost 152lbs, but I’m still working towards goal. Hope to be able to help some other folks as well.
  • Wow, way to go! Keep that momentum and motivation up, and it will spread to help others. I started at 397 lbs, and have lost 150 lbs so far. As such, I understand your struggles and can attest that even better days are coming for you. I have been walking and cycling for awhile, but have recently started noticing that I was…
  • I personally chose to abandon them. However, this was part of an overall decision to avoid "artificial" foods and most other processed offerings, not just sweeteners. Like another user posted above, I also noticed this helped curb my sweet tooth overall. Even though calorie free, it seemed the large amounts of Diet Mt. Dew…
  • You should probably be eating "mountains" of vegetables regardless of which program you follow. They satiate me and provide micronutrients we can't get anywhere else.
  • Good on you girl! Your progress is amazing. Don’t get down hearted. I started and lost about 66lbs in 90 days. I got bummed out because no one seemed to notice. I let that justify giving up and putting almost all of it back on in the following couple years. Don’t do what I did! It’s all about consistency. Don’t worry about…
  • Great work! I've got to say, you didn't look like 400 in your before pics. I blew up to 397 before I got serious. I'm only down 120 so far, so it's nice to see someone "get there." Love to follow what you've done and are doing.
  • OP, I think you are on the right track to maintenance. I know what you're going through. I'm down 111lbs with still more to go. You hit on something about the binge. For me, if I get into some trigger foods, I can be fighting (and mostly losing) cravings all day. For me, those foods can be things like pasta, muffins,…
  • You've definitely gone beyond "starting" to see a change. There is already a significant loss here. Be thankful and continue on. If your loss rate starts to slow or taper off, continue on. Don't lose heart. Consistency wins the race in the long term.
  • I lost 66lbs in about 3 months during a weight loss challenge, here at work. Loss after this period was slower, but more sustainable. Your gender, age, and starting weight/% body fat will all factor in to your potential. Overall, slow and steady is the way to KEEP it off, along with lifestyle change.
  • MFP does allow you to record your measurements. You can enter it in the same screen you update your weight. In many ways, this a good way to measure. Often, people get frustrated by not seeing the scale move, but sometimes body re-composition can be tricky and you've actually dropped inches instead.
  • Congrats brother! What a milestone. I clicked your thread because of the 200lbs. That is approximately my ultimate goal loss. I know what you've been through. I started at 397. What broke it for me, was the realization that I was about to broach 400lbs. It was an arbitrary ceiling, but one I was determined not to breach. I…
  • There is probably a LOT of sodium in the foods you were served on board, besides any excess calories. Hydrate and get back on track and bet those five are gone pretty darn quick.
  • Feel free to add me. I enjoy Star Wars (mostly original 3), and am hopeful for the next movie. Please Disney don't make a mess!
  • Love cabbage as a filler veg in stir-frys with Asian or curry seasonings. So easy, low cal and filling. Mix with whatever veg you like, stir fry in some chicken or beef, if you like. Sometimes I also chop up with other veg, and cook with curry paste and coconut milk (usually a lite variety), and it tastes sooooo good, if…
  • Great news! How did you do it?! My blood numbers were all in wacky territory, until I started eating the bulk of my volume in plant based foods (greens, veg, fruit, some legumes/peas, etc.) and getting my carbs from them rather than so much from sugars and flours. I also dumped sodas and learned to love teas. Since…
  • Great work! YOu look fantastic! I have as much to go as you had to start. D'oh!
  • I have a vivofit, not sure how they are different, but mine seems to auto adjust my daily goal up or down based on if I met my previous goal and by how much. I don't know if this is adjustable on my device, as it's still pretty new to me.
  • You look great in both pictures. Kudos for making health a priority!
  • Looks like lots of opinions from people who've not read or tried the plan. I went on it for 3 months, lost 30ish pounds, and my blood numbers plummeted back to normal ranges. Sugar, triglycerides, Cholesterol were all high before hand. I didn't follow religiously, still had some lean meats, eggs, never got hungry. I went…
  • Great work! I've done similar. Changed my blood profile, and down 85 lbs. I started walking also and built up to an average daily of about 10-13K steps
  • Why all the brown rice hate?! I actually prefer it!
  • I hear you. I woke up one day after finding a scale with a high enough limit to finally get an accurate reading. What a wake up moment! You'd think the size 54 pants and 4xl shirts would have been a clue, but it wasn't. SW 397 CW 312 GW 210 With over a hundred left to lose, I'd be happy to have anyone along for the ride.…
  • Heh, I'm on the other end of the spectrum, I suppose. My tastes have changed so much I usually eat my salads dry with tasty veggies and proteins I actually like with a nice little bit of parmesan or feta cheese. I also relish my green smoothies like I did my milkshakes. I used to be heavily addicted to the drive through…
  • I have the same reactions to diet soda. I crave carbs all day when I drink one. I also lost 9lbs my first week trying to lose. All I did was stop drinking DIET soda. It was keeping so much water on me. I was drinking between 52-104oz a day. My wife was also addicted to diet coke, and was having massive headaches. A scan…
  • I still have about a hunerd' ta' lose. Let's stay positive and we'll make it.
