  • I appreciate that you aren't trying to change your mom. So...fry chicken and remove the skin for your portion. You can still make yourself a wrap. Its just me here, so I often buy a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket, debone it, and use it in other recipes. It freezes well. Again...wraps, salads, casseroles, pasta…
  • I do not add salt to my food. I'm post menopausal, and I've been to the doctor. I walk 15 minutes in the morning before I go to work. So I've covered all those bases. All the doctors say is that my thyroid levels are good, that I should be losing weight, and to increase my activity. well DUH! But back to my original point,…
  • I can't tell you how much it aggravates me to see that not following the program is the first answer. I've been doing MFP for 2 weeks and have gained 5 lbs. My calories are 1420/day and I almost never go over 1500 and have never gone under 1400. I drink my water and I've been walking in the mornings. I weigh and measure…
  • The last time I looked at a "serving size" for a spray, it was a one second spray. With that, you likely get minimal calories, possibly even enough below 1 calorie to qualify as a zero calorie food. All in all, I'd rather use a heart healthy oil like safflower or olive oil and take the hit for the calories.
  • I've been a nurse for 25 years. I also got into the mind set that eating breakfast was out of the question because of how early the day started. Not true. There is no reason not to eat breakfast before starting the day. Hard boiled eggs in the fridge ready to go or made into egg salad for a sandwich, leftovers from dinner…
  • Absolutely nothing. I ate out twice last week, including Mexican. I made wiser choices and didn't eat all of what I knew was pointy (i.e. the free tortilla chips and the refried beans), but I ate a little of everything and all of the taco and beef enchilada and stayed well within my calories for the day. And did not skip…
  • You'll maintain better control over sodium if you do more home cooking. I make my own spaghetti and pizza sauces, for instance. I add a little salt as I cook, but rarely at the table. I use frozen vegetables instead of canned, limit things like canned soups. I started doing this years ago because I was hypertensive (high…
  • Believe it or not, exposing yourself to the normal every day germs can boost your immunity. And the number one, least expensive, most effective way to control the spread of germs is handwashing. You don't even really need germicidal soap. Just wash your hands while you sing "Happy Birthday", Yankee Doodle", or "The ABC…
  • Thanks. That's what I thought.
