I got sick..

I am the type of person who hates to share clothing, shoes, water, makeup.ANYTHING to avoid geting sick.I usually stay in the house to avoid getting sick since i found the west nile in mainly in dallas.Well my brother is the complete opposite,He goes out and comes back home in the morning. He has a bad habit of not covering his mouth when he coughs of sneezes, which is my one pet peeve.Which is what brings me here,he got me,my sister ,and my mom sick WE ARE PISSED !.
Whenever i get sick i dont just have a little cold. i have headaches, sore throats, tummy aches. It gets crazy. Now my whole diet is spoiled i have to stop it until i get better. All im eating is chicken noodle soups( i hate the sodium on them) ,raw lemons water, eating cough drops, aot of HOT green tea.and that's basically it.ok my headache is back im off to bed..

The problem is obviously because you're in Dallas and the Cowboys played last night. I got a little sick too.

I am nowhere near that cautious.

I actually sit on public toilet seats and open the bathroom door without a towel.

I haven't been sick in ... 10 years? Something like that.

I keep setting my DVR to record "The Biggest Loser" but it keeps recording all the Dallas Cowboys games. Makes me sick every time!

    Lulz!

The Cowboys winning interfered with the Universe's sense of balance which may throw off your internal equilibrium. I recommend heavy doses of Patriots football and moving to Mars, ASAP.

Getting sick happens to us fleshy mortals...unless you're a cyborg, then you may need a mainframe adjustment.

Believe it or not, exposing yourself to the normal every day germs can boost your immunity. And the number one, least expensive, most effective way to control the spread of germs is handwashing. You don't even really need germicidal soap. Just wash your hands while you sing "Happy Birthday", Yankee Doodle", or "The ABC Song".

Maybe if you went outside and exposed yourself to a few more germs you'd build up some antibodies and be able to avoid getting sick or be better prepared to fight a cold/illness? Maybe..IDK, I'm no Dr. Just my 2 cents.

My husband is OBSESSIVE about germs. Stays far away from anyone who might be sick, uses hand sanitizer constantly, etc. And out of my family, he is the only one who gets sick frequently. The rest of us just use normal procedures, like hand washing at appropriate times, etc. Unfortunately , everyone gets sick sometimes.

To help keep from getting sick I sanitize my hands often. I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer at my desk at work after I use the water cooler, the copy machine, or anything else that gets touched by lots of germy people. I also keep some in my car so I can sanitize my hands after using the exit door from any store, theater, restaurant, ect. that gets touched a lot by people.

Another thing I do to help boost my immune system is taking garlic supplements. Garlic is great for the immune system, and unlike some other immune systems supplements, there are no negative side effects and you can't take too much garlic. Exercise will also help boost your immune systems, but make sure to wash or sanitize your hands after using any shared gym equipment.

    Hope that helps!

I could never understand this theory. It's like telling someone to keep hitting themselves in the head to help avoid getting a concussion. :-S Although getting sick can help your body create antibodies, constant exposure to germs and viruses will weaken your immune system and make you sick. After getting sick it takes your body a while to build up a resistance again. It seems like a better idea to try and avoid exposure and give your body's immune system a chance to build up a strong defense.

My aunt who has a master's in nursing and worked in surgery in a major hospital in Boston would disagree with everything you said.

She also does not allow her family to use hand sanitizer or anything antibacterial.

The more your body is exposed to germs the better it is at fighting them and therefore not getting you sick.

Hand sanitizers and anti-bacterial soaps don't always work. Germs and illnesses constantly change and evole. I don't use hand santizers and the only time I use anti-bacterial anything is when I have a cut. Those who constantly use santizers and such are normally the ones getting sick more often.

By keeping yourself locked in the house and not exposing your body to germs, you are allowing your body to weaken. Same goes for people who go to the dr for antibiotics with every little cold they get. they are making their bodies dependent on drugs to fight off illness.

I'm not afraid of germs and guess what, I rarely get sick and neither does my kid!

You know what? NOW I'm saying it. Licking a toilet is the secret to NOT getting sick! Make sure you sanitize it first though...wouldn't want any of those icky germs to get on your tongue..santize your tongue afterwards too!

    Cheers!:drinker:

Honestly, I very rarely get sick and I wash my hands regularly (not obsessively) but I go out into public, I touch door knobs, I put my pens in my mouth, I touch everything, I even do the 5 second rule if I drop something on the floor (depends on the floor and the type of food though). I make an effort not to rub my eyes or my nose with my hands though. There's a woman at my work who NEVER washes her nasty hands. She gets sick fairly frequently though, she recently had sinus and respirator infections and while she was at work not washing her hands, coughing everywhere, I didnt even get a sniffle. I think there is something to be said for the happy medium balance btwn overly cautious & sheltering your immune system and the obviously dirty nasty person who enjoys spreading their germs. There are studies that show that kids who are overly protected against germs get sick more often than kids who aren't as overly protected. My immune system is strong like bull.

What do you think a vaccine is? It's a small exposure to an illness to help your body create the antibodies to fight it.

Hand Sanitizer is killing this world for real. Because of the overuse of both that and antibiotics, germs are becoming resistant to more and more things. Sanitizer isn't needed, and recent studies have indicated that using too much is not so good either.

My daughter's pediatrician recommended that we let her play everywhere. Eat stuff off our floor. Don't boil everything. She told us that if we made her world super sanitary, she'd spend all of her school year sick because her immune system just wouldn't build up properly.

Scientists also think that the increase in allergies are because people are trying to be so super sanitary, our bodies are actually LOOKING for something to fight.

    Go OUTSIDE :)

Yeah, you have a weak immune system because you aren't allowing your body to come in contact with some of these "minor" germs. Your body will not build up immunities and this is why when you get sick... you get SICK!
Buck up, get out there and experience things.
Don't get me wrong, I have hand sanitizer in my purse, I clean off the handles on shopping carts before I use them, I wash my hands before I eat every single time... but seriously, you gotta come in contact with some germs sometimes!!!
Hope you feel better though :)

    BAHAHAHA!!! Best reply...

Honestly if this is for real then you need to do some research girl, you have got to expose yourself to germs in order to build up your immune system.

Your brother is an inconsiderate boor. That's piggish and unhygienic.

Well, most people maintain or even lose a little weight while sick, so there is that.

I'm not a germaphobe, but I do wash my hands whenever I come in from the street, or before preparing good, or after taking out the garbage, and of course after using the bathroom.

Try making your own chicken soup so you can control the sodium. I agree, just try to accept that you're going to be sick for a short time and plan to jump right back on your plan as soon as you're feeling better.
