  • I do the same routine over and over. Its at the point now that I don't think what's next, my body just does it. Even in class if the instructor happens to skip a pose, I'm already automatically in the sequenced pose before my brain registers a change. Do you have the ability to do the same routine time and again? With…
  • I like to at least do suns daily. 3-4 days I do the first half of Ashtanga series 2-3 days I do the full primary. Or at least that's my goal. I take it easy on moon days (balance is way off), shark week, and lately I've been taking time off to finish a tattoo (once that is all done, I'm hoping to go for cert.)
  • hooray for training! I've been looking for a 200hour RYT I can work into my schedule. I have 2 teachers and they have various certificates (incl the 500 ERYT) and training with David Swenson, Nancy Gilgoff, Shiva Rea and others. One of them has so many certificates.... The studio I go to lists the instructors certs on…
  • The first time I tried it, it was the fad but I was really into high impact and young so I abandoned it. Second go around, I liked the relaxation part of it. I took really easy relaxing classes. Then we had a couple of subs that were usually Ashtanga teachers and I loved those classes. I started taking those and dropped…
  • Way to go!
  • Mornings are my favorite. If I had to pick a time it's 1030 am. I'm not sure why. It's usually an unattainable time that I only meet on non work days....so, once a week. But it's my favorite practice. The rest of the time it's before work. The studio I practice at only has even Ashtanga classes so when I can make a class…
  • I'm not a victim but I do have PCOS. The key for me is sugar. Dropped it all and I felt so much better. I'm not on meds so my healing is all due to food. I finally have a regular period and I rarely get cysts anymore. Weight isn't easy to shed for sure.
  • heh. I could talk yoga all the time too. My freebies were wheel, pigeon, and headstand. I'm sure there were others and even now I'll try a new pose and am surprised that I'm in it.
  • I have the same issue and I have asked my instructor how to handle it. Minimizer bra does wonders. Also practice. I struggled with the suffocating feeling for so long but about a year into steady practice, I seem to have found a spot that is less difficult for me. Maybe I've just come to terms with the feeling and knowing…
  • This isn't always the case. It can be a thyroid issue or something else medical going on with the body. Sure enough there are plenty of ways our mind can make us eat way less but sometimes there are physical medical issues at hand. And when you hear that, it could be something else. I've said it. I have my cals set higher…
  • oh no!! hang in there. I hope you get better fast so you can get back to it.
  • I am in the US and as Americans we're very self centered. hahaha Of course, I should know it's the same in many areas. I guess I always hope that people elsewhere don't rely on the sparkle as much as it seems people do here. The repackaging and making this pop and sparkle for general consumers can seem way off kilter…
  • when we started eating cleaner foods a couple of years ago one of the switches was going back to butter. We don't use a ton of it but it not only tastes better but it does feel better (at least mentally) not eating all the junk that's in margarine.
  • Way to go!!! She is awesome. My videos are en route and I hope they get here soon because it's killing me hear you guys talking about doing them and I can't yet!! hahaha.
  • I stopped following him and bodyrock shortly after the split so I missed all that. I have a few of the workouts saved but not enough. I wish when I was writing down my timed reps I was better at keeping what the exercises were and not just my numbers. I'm disappointed in the direction that Freddy has taken bodyrock but I'm…
  • There are quite a few studies and articles to be found about exercise easing symptoms of depression. If you google "Depression Exercise" you'll see a ton of articles. Including the Mayo one here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/depression-and-exercise/MH00043 So if you look at yoga purely as an exercise, it can only be…
  • The American Money Machine seems to be really stellar at taking something good and solid then breeding the hell out of it with stuff that sells, turning into some bastardized useless piece of flop. It's not just exercises but everything. I'm glad I learned about kettlebells before they got too popular so that majority of…
  • I didn't know about the organized list. Thank you! My new goal is to go through and save videos I love so they don't go away all together. That list will help :) I set these aside tonight http://archive.bodyrock.tv/2011/01/12/harder-than-ever-workout/ http://archive.bodyrock.tv/2011/01/10/cherry-cherry-boom-boom-workout/…
  • I just saw this too. Some of it seems sound at least. I'm not a pro so.... It can't hurt to eat better, smarter, and exercise. I only skimmed but they didn't seem to be shilling pills which makes it seem more real than those that want you buy something.
  • I went to the site today and realized that all the ones shot in Poland on the roof top were gone. :( That makes me a little sad. I guess I better hop to it on saving the other ones I love. I like the ZWOW's too but the old bodyrocks just have that nostalgia. heh.
  • Not that this helps anyone here and now We have a garden but even if you don't, produce is cheaper in the summer months when it's plentiful and fresh. In the garden we over produce for our needs and we can or freeze. Even now if you see there is a really excellent sale on something that you eat a lot of like broccoli or…
  • There's nothing wrong with not having a routine and needing to be talked through a series. But if you're feeling like you need to, practice a routine several times until you memorize it. It can be your go to routine if you can't get a voice to talk you through something. Then you have a choice to do the routine you know or…
  • I first think if I'm hungry for some reason like emotions or boredom and if I'm actually hungry because of a need of food then I eat. It's important though to eat something good that will be filling. Protein or leafy greens and drink water. It usually does the trick.
  • I saw the original one you had up and even that you can see the big change. Way to go!
  • What a change! You're looking fabulous!
  • I prefer yoga in the morning though not usually as early as I need to get up if I'm going to work it into my schedule. In the afternoon if I work it in, it's usually right after work but before I start dinner and then it feels rushed but if I can get in the mindset and allow myself 30 minutes of peace, I can get in an…
  • There's a whole thread on here with Mainers. There's quite a few of us. Hello from the Brunswick area :)
  • I noticed early on that the calories burned for yoga was off. I added my own exercise for Ashtanga based on a general calculation for activity and my weight/height/age. It's probably still a little off but I think I'll probably be ok as I'm not super concerned with accuracy. If I needed to be more accurate I would get an…
  • There's a million different types of shoes and whatnot out there. I hope with some medical help you're able to find something that works for you. I hurt my hip running a couple of years ago and I became very aware of how I was running and change my routes and shoes.... I have a friend that runs in these…
