What?? the science that digging up granny will do me no good??

The supermarket apple pie is a cut and paste job, nothing more, nothing less and the random apple pie is just that - random. I have never cooked an apple pie and don't intend to in the near future and if I did, I would have to search for a gluten free, low sugar recipe, give the raisins the flick, definitely look for one…

Too late at night for this discussion over nothing. My money is on the humble apple. I'm off to bed. Goodnight. :)

My nanna died close on 30 years ago. Just reminiscing. And the last time I ate a donut would be 10 years ago but I still remember the taste as I smell the donuts cooking at a donut shop. Even if I ate it, it would be a tiny percentage of my regular food. A good bakery can produce an amazing apple pie. To me, my first…

That is because my nanna's recipe died with her. OMG it was amazing, she was such a good cook. :)

Here is a comparison between a supermarket apple pie and a homemade one. SUPERMARKET APPLE PIE: FILLING: SLICED APPLES, CORN SYRUP, WATER, BROWN SUGAR, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF: SPICE, SALT, CITRIC ACID, ASCORBIC ACID, PRESERVED WITH SODIUM BENZOATE. CRUST: WHEAT FLOUR, VEGETABLE SHORTENING (PALM OIL…

Yes, I try very hard to stick with a paleo style regime but luckily for me the paleo god is very forgiving as I get sidetracked occasionally. I eat mostly home cooked food and avoid any foods that have been sitting on the supermarket shelf for the past twelve months. I shop on the outskirts of the supermarket and very…

Yes I think "The assertion ........" thread has been deleted which is so annoying as I wanted to read it. A lot of people spend a lot of time and effort stating their opinion and it seems that a small group of people then went out of their way to get the thread removed because they didn't agree with the discussion. Grrrr…

Moving right along before this thread gets hit by a bolt of lightening - I actually, in my head, refer to food as "healthy" or "unhealthy." I agree Lemurcat, no one will ever convince me that homemade apple pie is bad for me! I grew up eating my nanna's apple pie. :) A scoop of gelato or a hot donut straight off the…

Yep, eat some food. If you are logging properly, there is not enough nutritious food there. Get that soup maker out and start eating. :)

I know what you mean. I am a three meals a day kinda girl (with snacks in between.) I have always been a big eater but have never been overweight until I hit menopause and even now I only have a few kilos to lose. Eating 1200 calories is bloody hard.

As they say on meditation tapes - "Breathe in, relax and let it happen." :D

Christine, I think you made a wise choice for the moment as it seems to be getting you down too much at the moment. Sometimes I think it is a good idea to stop doing what you are doing and refocus and I really should take some of my own advice. :p Good luck and don't forget to eat your veggies!! :)

What an amazing post and such an amazing achievement. You deserve your success after all the work you have put into it. You are to be congratulated. I wish you well for your future and will be looking out for your advice in the future. :)

Maidentl, you are absolutely correct, if I caused Mamapeach any distress I wholeheartedly apologise. Mamapeach knows me and I hope you knows that I would never deliberately set out to hurt her personally in any way and I certainly never intended to "go after her" and if it came across like that, it was not my intention.…
-
I agree the calories are fine for a small person and are not in the danger zone but her iron, potassium, calcium etc are. I agree, I keep my diary and my life private but mamapeach repeatedly points out the fact her diary is public and constantly advises people on their diets. She is a brave woman.
-
I hope you don't mind mamapeach but you are constantly saying your diary is public so I took the liberty of printing it out and quite frankly I am not surprised you are as sick as your are. I understand you are vegetarian and have Celiac Disease but it would be unrealistic to expect a young healthy person to survive and…

I agree Lissa and Lynn. OMG I love juicing but not as a meal replacement. I wish I had more time and then I would do it as a regular thing. It is refreshing, revitalising and when I am on a juicing kick, I feel amazing. However, I only juice in conjunction with a balanced diet. I also have a Ninja and make a lot of…

The tea is not the problem but the sugar you add to it certainly has the potential to make it a problem. It is recommended that people limit their added sugar intake to less than 10 per cent of their daily calorie intake; for the average woman that is below 10 teaspoons of sugar per day.

You two are definitely antisocial. lol I love people dropping in as long as they don't stay too long. Cuppa and then off you go sunshine. :)

I know a few people on Bipolar medication and they struggle with weight gain because of it. So don't be too hard on yourself. Definitely, do what cindytw says and give it a go for a week, log your food and see for sure what you are eating. You will be surprised at how easy it is to eat extra calories. I feel you need to…

Now I get that it is great to take an hour or so to lie in the bath, listen to some tranquil music, enjoy a glass of wine, surround yourself with candle light and rose pedals and just let your body relax. Yes I get that.....the whole process is therapeutic and calming, and can hold a vast amount of health benefits. But…

"Fail to plan, plan to fail!" Thanks for that Live_Laugh, you reminded me to hurry up and get my lunch for work or I really will have the munchies at 3pm, big time. :p

You are welcome Live, Love, Lift. :) Here are the new recommended sugar guidelines from the World Health Organization which Trinh Le, nutrition co-ordinator for MFP says might be bad news for soda drinkers... And definitely gets some more protein into your diet. Good to see you are making changes. I noticed you don't eat breakfast and it would be a good idea if you could find a healthy breakfast to begin the day. Yes usually the "low fat" variety of soups etc have either a lot of sugar or a lot of salt so it is good to be wary.…

You are definitely in need of a good steak and vegetable dinner and a serving of fruit. I agree with most of the posts, you are not eating enough. Watch your salt intake as well. Good luck.
