I truly enjoy participating as I feel no pressure or judgement, yet these challenges really seem to help keep me motivated. January 3: 230 February 7: 222.2…
  • The go to snack that fills me up is fresh raw veggies with a couple tbsp of hummus.
  • When I am stressed or upset I am just the opposite, I can't eat at all. However my biggest downfall is boredom. When I'm bored all I want to do is eat. So when I do get bored and start feeling the urge to eat I typically do any of the things suggested by @herblovinmom to distract myself and usually the feeling passes.
  • It's different for everyone. I started at 230 lbs (I'm 5'4) and I was so afraid of it messing with my head if I did not see any progress on the scale that I did not weigh myself for the first time until 5 weeks after my start date. When I finally did I had lost 8 lbs. At that point I could not see a difference in the…
  • The opposite is true for me. Wearing my fitness tracker motivates me to move more. I also like that it monitors my heart rate, which allows me to track not only my exercise minutes but also my level of activity, eg intense, aerobic, anaerobic, etc. I truly think it has really helped to improve my cardiac fitness level. MFP…
  • I think it's a matter of figuring out what works best for you. With rare exceptions I weigh myself once per week. I have been down this road before and I know that my mind cannot handle the normal daily fluctuations that occur throughout the week.

  • @StefMB88 Ooooo, this sounds great! I made homemade tomato soup last summer but it honestly did not taste any better to me than canned so I thought I wouldn't bother with it again. However this recipe sounds so good I think I will try it now that I have an abundance of tomatoes from my garden again. Just one question,…

  • Thank you @RubyRed427 for creating and posting the thread for the next challenge period! Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
  • Congratulations to all!! Even if you didn't meet your goal it takes a lot of dedication just to login, track regularly and participate. Between meal planning, tracking, exercising, and participating in the message boards this sometimes feels to me like a part time job. B)
  • You're doing great! Keep it up!! Here's a pretty good stir fry recipe that I have made many times. https://www.skinnytaste.com/chicken-and-broccoli-stir-fry/#recipe I only use a teaspoon of sugar instead of a tablespoon. I've also added some diced carrots, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots or mushrooms. Sometimes I substitute…

  • WTG! What a great feeling that is!
  • I measure my bust, waist, hips, thighs and biceps. Here is the breakdown for me: Bust -5 Waist -5 Hips -6.5 Thighs -2 each Biceps -1 each
  • Took my primary measurements a few days ago and I am a total of 22.5 inches smaller than I was when I first recorded them in February. Also my BMI has dropped by 7.4. Still in the obese range but almost half way to reaching the healthy BMI range.
  • When I first started using the fitness app that I have on my phone it told me that I was "heavier than 99% of people" my height and age. Now it tells me that I am "lighter than 1% of people" my height and age. WTH, lol. 2 different ways of saying the same exact thing. After 6 months and 43 lbs the thing still hasn't…

  • I am 60 years old and started using MFP again in January 2022 to help me track my food and nutrient intake. At 5'4" and 230 lbs I was sick of feeling crappy and tired all the time. My knees and hips had begun to ache constantly. My fasting blood sugar and A1C had crept up into the prediabetes range and my cholesterol had…
  • Everyone is doing so great! My next mini goal is to lose 20% of my original starting weight, which will be a 46 lb loss. As of last Friday I had reached 40 lbs so 6 more lbs to go! I hope to reach this mini goal by mid-August.
  • Congrats! That IS a victory.
