I don't have a lake house. That is my lifelong dream to have a lake house. It is something I save for when I can. Shelling out thousands for a therapist would certainly detract from reaching the lake house goal though. I would love to do it sooner rather than later so my parents can enjoy it while they are still here and…

“As for therapy... I have tried it on 2 separate occasions as I was losing the 130 lbs. I knew I had to work out some things beyond just my weight. It helped. But was also incredibly expensive... like thousands of dollars out of pocket. I reached a point where I felt like it wasn't helping anymore. In fact the first one…

You are to be commended for your hard work in making the changes you set out to make. That takes incredible perseverence and strength. OWN IT! Self confidence is sexy! But now I’m going to be blunt: you’re playing the victim here. The world owes you nothing. I met my husband online. Both of us had been married before and…

RIGHT ON!!!! 👍👍👍

Band Aid Blister Block (try saying that 3x in a row!) has always done the trick for me. Good luck!

I was inspired to change my mind about posting pics. My hormones are all messed up and the lady time arrived today 2 weeks after my last period. So my stomach may be a bit distended. Age: 50 BMI: Don’t know, don’t care BF: My guess is 22-24% Height/Weight: 5’8”-5’9”, depending on method of measuring, not sure of my weight…

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE this thread!!! I’ve gained a few pounds the past few months, so I’m not willing to post a photo at the moment but I am working on losing the weight and seeing my abs again. Thank you to all of the ladies who are secure enough to post photos.

I’m younger than everyone who’s posted in this thread so far! I am so conflicted about aging. On one hand, getting older is so different now than it used to be. People are living longer thanks to advances in science/medicine. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started caring less about what people think of me. OTOH, it seems more…

Exercise before work, weigh solids/measure liquids, calorie deficit.

How much time had you taken off before doing an hour on the treadmill? IMHO, that’s overdoing it for just having recovered from PF. Careful with heel striking. Oftentimes it means you’re overstriding, which can also lead to injury.

Hockey pasta! I try not to go too often because I end up buying too much candy. 😥

I don’t agree with the advice to suck it up and run through pain. I had PF, ran through it, and ended up tearing my plantar fascia. I have heard the same thing happening to others. I also ran through a stress fracture in my foot and now have arthritis in that foot. For sure running through DISCOMFORT is necessary, but pain…

Where in Toronto will you be staying? Right downtown?

Mix 1/3c Sriracha and 1/3c brown sugar and brush it over chicken breasts before and during baking. It’s also delicious on pork.

Stretch your feet and calves, ice, ibuprofen, don’t walk around barefoot. Maybe see if a night splint is less $ than a Strasburg sock?

OP - I feel your pain. Due to several life changes, I ramped up my workouts to deal with the stress. Lifting an hour/day 5 days per week and cardio 5 days/week. A couple of those cardio workouts aren’t much, 35 minutes on the elliptical. The other cardio workouts are running and stairmill. I am ravenous ALL OF THE TIME and…

Hey, great job! How did the race go? Were you in pain at the halfway point like you were in training? Should you entertain the idea of running another marathon (a lot of people swear not to then do a 180), I highly suggest using one of Hal Higdon’s training programs. Congratulations once again!
-
I ran a sub-20 minute 5k, but it was awhile ago. I was marathon training and did a combination of long runs, tempo runs, and track work. The last 5k I did was just over 24 minutes, and it hurt! Good luck!

I have found it difficult to improve on certain lifts. I’ve been told that some of the essential lifts (squats, bench, deads) are tougher for taller people; I’m a female, 5’9”, 49 yrs old. Been lifting for ~8 yrs; following Layne Norton’s PHAT for about 2 months now. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I’m 2 months shy of 50 (sob) and have a really hard time taking rest days. I lift 5x/week and do cardio 4-6x/week. I’m under a great deal of stress (LOTS of life changes in a short time). Working out helps a lot especially since I’m an emotional eater.
-
By that logic, I didn’t start lifting until the afterlife.

Out of all those I only know Loblaws. I’ll have to stop in there and stock up once the weather is a bit warmer. Thank you for doing the legwork (finger work?) on this!

Some years ago I started seeing a chiropractor for piriformis and lower back pain. He convinced me that by buying a bunch of vitamins/supplements both of those conditions would heal. They didn’t. Basically I ended up with very expensive urine. He also claimed he could cure asthma and allergies.

We recently moved to Toronto and live in the downtown core, so I’m not familiar with the stores mentioned.

Devil’s advocate here - it would bother me if someone was taking photos in the locker room, which is what OP said. This is especially true after the incident with that (idiot) Playboy model who intentionally included a half naked woman in her locker room selfie.

WHERE in Toronto???

After touting Shaklee products as pure and scientifically proven, I asked the friend of my cousin who posted this nonsense to please cite unbiased, scientific proof. That was yesterday AM. So far, crickets.

I lost 30+lbs, ran 12 Marathons, 2 50 mile Ultramarathons, countless shorter races, & lifted weights for 6 years before I had lipo on my saddlebags. I’d call that working for it.

Frankenfood....OH NOOOOO!!!
