Came from a family of four. I don’t know if we were fast eaters because I had nobody to compare to. After meeting my ex’s family was when I figured out I’m a REALLY fast eater. My husband and I are both fast eaters, I want to say that 10 minutes for dinner (incl. serving/clean up) is about average.

I lost 15lbs and got down to 13% body fat when I was 50 yrs old. I ate (and still do) foods I like, I track pretty closely (save for a restaurant meal or two). It can be done, please don’t be discouraged!

Before I severely sprained my ankle right before XMas, I was running 10 miles 3x/week and lifting 3x/week. Lifting program is Push/Pull/Legs (PPL). My ankle is all healed now so I’m slowly working my way back to those 10 milers.

Oh, it was most definitely because I wasn’t consuming enough fiber. I kept my carbs fairly low; not keto low, but usually fewer than 100g. I’m certain that as a result my fiber was intake was probably 20g or less per day. Fats were fine because I ate eggs, cheese, Greek yogurt, almonds, etc. I’m eating more carbs than I…

Anecdotal situation, but when I increased my protein intake I found that I had some...ahem...bathroom issues. 😳 Granted, I was eating ~180-200g per day (52yrs old, female, ~135lbs) which is a lot, but it was in alignment with my goals. I’ve since reduced my daily calories, so that number has decreased to between…

Roast them! Trim them, place on a foil lined cookie sheet, spray with Pam olive oil cooking spray, a little salt, then pop them in a 350° oven for 20-30 minutes. You could also try combining 1/3c sriracha and 1/3c brown sugar as a “glaze” to mix them in after roasting.

Been a runner for 24 years now. There’ve been periods when I ran A LOT (50-60 miles/week) and others when running wasn’t that important to me. I’ve recently gone back to making it my primary cardio exercise, running ~30 miles/week. I’ve run 12 marathons, 2 50 mile ultras, and too many half marathons, 5 & 10ks to remember.…

Is that job still available? Asking for a “friend” who also lost their job due to the bloody Covid. 😔😉 Seriously though, I feel like you’d be really unhappy if you’d accepted a job with the number of cons being way more than the number of pros. In short, not a stupid decision.

I’m in the same situation, the only difference is I’m 52 yrs old. I wouldn’t sweat it. When whomever is taking my vitals asks if I workout, it’s a nice ego boost!

Exercise has always been the easy part for me...go figure. I’m sending you a friend request - I log my food and my exercise every day.

Hey that’s great that you’re back on your game and have lost the weight! I should be taking this time to do yoga and improve my balance (I fall probably more than normal) but I’ve been lazy about it. I may check out the barre video you mentioned. Keep up the great work! 👏🏻

Thank you - and likewise! 💕

I had to step away from Facebook, too. The most mundane topics became political debates, I just couldn’t stand it. It’s been a relief and I may not go back to it ever. I don’t think listening to podcasts is dumb! I love them and listen when I’m running. Of course, I haven’t been able to run for a couple of weeks (even…

THANK YOU for sharing your healthy & positive attitude! ❤️

I am married, but my husband is reluctant to do something like what you mentioned. I actually deleted the Apple News app and replaced it with the AP app. Apple News just had a hodgepodge of crap - “Healthy 25 year old dies from COVID”, “Mother of 5 Mauled by Bear in Her Driveway as Kids Look on in Horror”. As if the virus…

I just got mine done yesterday, lol. My husband and I are wfh so there’s rarely a time when I have to wear pants, let alone get dressed up. 😜 Thank you for your response - stay safe!

Thank you so much - I really appreciate your ideas! I actually do workout in the AM - I like getting it out of the way early. Exercise does make me feel better. My SO and I have just started a 14 day quarantine after being out of Canada, so we’re stuck indoors. Certainly doesn’t help matters. Sweets are a definite weakness…

Thank you for your response, it means a lot! How do you refrain from watching the news? I know I should do the same, but I also have major FOMO. How have you learned to forgive yourself if you overindulge?

I lift M, W, F using a push/pull/legs program and run T, Th, & Sun. Friday is leg day and since I lift early in the morning, it gives me plenty of time to rest before my Sunday long run.

It’s quite possible the OP won’t see your response since their question is from 4 years ago. 😉

Well... you didn’t count or measure and here you are after regaining the weight...🤔 Tracking/weighing is like any kind of change - it takes a little while to get used to before it becomes second nature. I’ve been doing it for a LONG time and honestly, I sometimes don’t even realize I reached for my food scale until its…

My name isn’t Jen, but I’ve been on MFP for just over 7 years (2,605 days in a row). I lift 3x/week and run 3x/week. Would love to be friends!
-
I’m 51 and run around 22-25 miles/week, in addition to lifting 3 days/week. I used to run 50-70 miles/week without any crosstraining, which was pretty shortsighted on my part because my body paid the price. 😕

Pre-packaged foods can be ~20% off of the info on their labels. Weight everything possible!
-
If you aren’t weighing solids & measuring liquids, it’s almost guaranteed you are eating more than you think. Hence, the weight gain.
-
Knowing your calorie requirements to lose, weighing solids/measuring liquids, & tracking/logging is what works. Calories in/caloroes out is king, unless you have a diagnosed health condition (e.g. PCOS).

This thread was started nearly 10 years ago. Better late than never, I guess? 😂

There’s a lot of misinformation and unsustainable weight loss methods on the internet. What you’ve read as the “norm” (and please do share the source for that) has more to do with how much weight one wants/has to lose. Want to lose 10lbs? 1-2.5/week is WAY too rapid. Want to lose 100lbs.? Then losing 1-2.5lbs/week can be…

Take care and try not to be hard on yourself. Life happens. It sounds like you’re happily surprised that your weight didn’t increase. You’ll get back into the swing of things!

It sounds like you have A LOT on your plate! Acknowledging your feelings is important. Be sure to practice self care. Stress reduction is so important, however you choose to go about it - exercising, yoga, meditation, getting together with friends, reading a good book, etc. I hope you’re healthy and feeling better about…
