If you are scanning the bar code of prepackaged foods, therein may be your problem. Packaged food labels are notoriously incorrect, sometimes by a fair amount. For example, the label on my oats says that a 1/2 cup = 40g. In reality, a level 1/2 cup is probably 45-46g. My protein bars have weighed 10g more than what the…

Swim! If your injury doesn't allow you to use your legs/feet to kick, then use a pull buoy in between your knees.

My experience with it is that it is a chronic condition. Sometimes it flares up, other times I am completely fine. I notice a huge difference if I sit for too long, although mine may have morphed into more of a sciatic pain. Your best bet is using a foam roller and/or golf/tennis/lacrosse ball and rolling it over the area.…

Soup, toast, diet Sprite were my go-to's the last time I was sick. Oh, and for some weird reason Fig Newtons.

The shock wave therapy was a single session. I can't recall the exact amount of time it took me to heal, but I think it was 3-4 months. Everyone has givenyou great suggestions for ways toalleviate the pain, so I will just add that the reason why my fascia tore was because of a cortisone shot I had gotten in my foot. Turns…

Use a scale to weigh all solid food. How are you tracking your exercise burn and how long have you been at it? Also, may I ask if you are getting your information about leaky gut/sludge from an MD?

Several years ago, after a severe case of PF and partial tear of the fascia, I had shock wave therapy on my foot. This sounds a bit more invasive (my foot was numbed but there was no incision), though. It definitely healed my foot & I was able to run marathons again after I was fully healed.

I always have wiped down equipment, but am even more vigilant about it after I got a staph infection in my arm from the gym. Believe me, you do not want one.

Good God, this has been debunked on this site and others a million times over. Just please stop.

For me, it's all about the 5 p's: Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance. I meal prep over the weekend, lay out my workout clothes and work clothes the night before, have my pre-workout made the night before and go to bed at a reasonable hour. Workjng out in the AM is great - no crowds and nothing to derail your efforts…

I have started doing negatives and can now do 1-2 unassisted pull ups. I am going to keep at it until I can do 10. They are REALLY hard!

We have first-world problems, don't we? There are so many starving people in the world, and we have increasingly gotten fatter as a country. I wonder how many obese are actually malnourished due to a reliance on fast food? I know one can get fat overeating any kind of food, but it seems our culture is about convenience and…

I looked at a few days of entries in your food diary, and it appears that you are not weighing EVERYTHING. For example, your slice of Marathon bread - you weighed every slice and all of them were 57g? Also, things like peanut butter need to weighed, not measured with a measuring spoon. I was completely shocked when I did…

When I trained for my first marathon eons ago, there was a guy in my group who was a pack a day smoker. He actually ended up doing pretty well (3:45-3:50-ish), but I think it was moreso to check it off his bucket list. That being said, please stop smoking!

I just added push ups to my chest day routine. They're HARD! You might want to think about them to change it up a bit.

There's some right up here but also a lot of wrong. Weight DOES fluctuate and you should weigh yourself at the same time of the day. As far as the weight gain, if you have only been lifting for 3 weeks your muscles are likely retaining water. Just give it some time and that will subside. Contrary to what bryanliang7 said…

I tore my bicep muscle a couple of years ago, but yours sounds more severe. Did yours tear at the elbow? It hurt SO bad when it happened, but after a cortisone shot or two and some time off from lifting weights, I was good to go. The cool thing is that because it will never be normal, my right bicep has a hump that makes…

I drink Diet Coke almost every day with my lunch. I drink even more of it on Fridays since it is my mixer of choice with Captain Morgan spiced rum (Skinny Pirate). In fact, I am ALL HOPPED UP ON DIET COKE RIGHT NOW!!!! :D

I got the Alta last weekend and really like it so far. My Flex crapped out on me after 2 years, and I had kind of wanted to upgrade anyway. I also wish it tracked floors climbed, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me. It was easy to set up and I agree with WakkoW that the small size band is longer than the Flex's.

I am also a pretty direct person (much to my detriment at times), so I just try not to engage in conversations about nutrition/exercise with people I know don't hold the same views. It's fruitless and irritating.
-
Great advice given already, but I would also add that if possible look up the restaurant menu and try to plan ahead what you will eat. The nutrition information may not be in MFP, but this is one of those times where you just have to ballpark it.

OP (and anyone else reading the above) - DISREGARD THIS.

^^^This, especially with so little weight left to lose.^^^

I am also not fond of rest days and rarely take a REAL one. I usually lift 4x/week and do cardio on the days I don't lift. That being said, I *do* listen to my body, so if I am feeling really tired/worn out, I will take a complete rest day.

Then how would you explain all of the skeletal people in the WWII concentration camps and people in famine-plagued areas of the world? They didn't look fat to me.

There was a guy who went to my old gym who (along with pretty much everyone else there) never re-racked his weights. When he had walked away from the leg press leaving it fully loaded up, I approached him and asked if he was done with it. When he replied he was, I said "I'll help you re-rack the weights". He took the one…

I used to run 6 days/week, no other form of exercise. I ran races at all distances, including a couple of ultras. When I met my guy, he "converted" me into a lifter first, runner second. Now, I lift 4-5x/week and run once per week (plus other forms of cardio 2-3x/week). I have seen a pretty big change in my body since I…

I am so sorry that you went through all of that and am glad that you have taken steps to make sure your kids don't have to endure the same thing. Pretending that adolesence/sexuality doesn't exist can be so harmful.
