I love your story, Teresa!! Enjoy your time together--you both deserve it!!

Definitely never eat less than 1200 calories/day consistently. Nutritionists say this sends your body into starvation mode, causing your body to break down muscle for energy rather than blasting fat.

How many calories a day are you eating and how much do you burn? It works well to eat between 1200-1500 calories/day, and work out 4-6 times a week. I try to make 3 days cardio days, because those are pure calorie burn days. I have melted off fat and built lots of beautiful lean muscle in the last year, losing a total of…

You guys are awesome, thanks for the input! For those of you who use Stevia or Truvia, do they leave any kind of after taste? Also wondering if anyone has used ZSweet?

Everything in moderation--and Splenda was a very useful tool when I was watching every calorie. That being said, I am essentially at goal and interested to know what changes other people have made in their diets once they're at goal to maintain. Also interested to know if anyone has noticed any "side effects" from…

Jillian Michaels ANYTHING--start with 30 Day Shred, and another personal favorite is No More Trouble Zones. She HAMMERS your arms in No More Trouble Zones. I started with her beginner workout in August of 2012--could barely use a three pound weight for the reps and by no means able to do a "real" push up. Today, I…

It's a super intense work out. Just keep at it, and you'll get strong enough to complete it. The first time I did it I thought I was going to die and could barely do the beginner version. Fast forward a few months, and it still kicks my butt! I love switching out various Jillian workouts; they're all great and effective.…

I've lost 38 lbs since August 2012. I drink at least 12 glasses of water EVER DAY. I exercise 5-6 days a week (cardio is an absolute MUST to shed the lbs) and eatbetween 1200-1500 calories/day. Devin Alexander has a few cookbooks with great (read simple to make, tasty, appropriate portion sizes) recipes--I Can't Believe…

Here's another article about how many calories to eat when trying to lose weight--very helpful! http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

Thank you! I was eating strictly 1200 ca/day and working out every day, and lost ONE pound in TWO weeks--way less than what I had been losing when I was eating around 1600 cal/day and working out 4-5 days/week. I think I'll eat a little more quality food calories and see what happens. Two days ago I upped my daily calories…

Thanks for that info! When I forgo a light snack before going to sleep when I'm hungry I wake up in the night, still hunry. Now I know a little protein before bed will go a long way.

AWESOME JOB!! Congratulations. :)

Jillian Michael's work outs are amazing. Even if you are advanced, just add weights to the move (like punches during the cardio circuit) or increase the weight used in the strength moves. And of course, count every calorie--stick to that 1200 calorie limit and drink plenty if water. You'll start losing weight for sure.…

An Osteopathic doctor I went to recommended that every person should drink half their weight in ounces of water. This makes sense because larger people have more cells in their bodies and require more water for cell function. So for me, I weigh 155 pounds and drink around 75-80 ounces of water per day. Much more…
