Yep - lost 58lb starting in 2012. Maintained within +- 5 bs for 6+ years and started 2020 at my lowest weight since before children (one of 31: one of 29). I maintain by being active (walking, gardening and swimming) and keeping an eye on portion control. I revisited mfp every now and then to check my portion control but…

Well done on returning to your journey :)

Toning and stretching exercises are so good for you. But as winter leads to shorter days and more rain there are also some pretty good 'walking videos' on youtube that I use to keep up the aerobic element of my exercise. Not as good for the mind as a lovely hike and I do walk in the rain - just not in a howling gale and…

Well done on the swim - made me smile a bit as we can only dream of water temps that high here in the UK - I'm still swimming in the sea (will prob continue until Xmas) and the temperature is a balmy 15 deg C or 59 deg F - pretty much the same temp in the sea as on land for another week or so!) Just goes to show you can…

When using some phones it is easy to hit the 'Disagree' button by accident. As disagreeing with a factual statement and not an opinion is nonsensical - I would assume it's a miss hit and ignore. Congratulations on your weight loss achievement!

Sorry to hear about the double bereavement - that's a hard hit to take. I am fortunate that I am retired and live somewhere where lock down, while an inconvenience, had very little significant impact on my day to day life. Miss my kids and social/group activities of course, but exercise in beautiful places was still easy.…

Bravissimo is my go to in the UK. The ladies who do the fitting can actually make the process fun and they do an amazing range of pretty/practical/active and sports - and do great swimwear too. Not cheap but so nice to be able to swim feeling fully supported and without worrying about falling out! They are online too

Glad you cleared up what it is - I'm afraid I though OP had simply misspelt Paddle - lots of Paddle boarders where I live  This sounds very interesting!

Been out of the loop a bit recently and just read this - love and hugs X

This! I probably overemphasise the exercise a bit much because people seem to accept that more easily than 'I counted calories to ensure I ate less'. If someone seriously wants to know and I think it will help them (they have to ask - I never offer random advice) they get the truth. I still find it embarrassing when people…

This was so true for me at first but, either I'm now more used to looking at the 'new' me or my body has settled into the new weight and, to me, I look a lot better. A short while ago I was at a wedding and saw someone I hadn't seen for 15 years and they were shocked by 'how much I had turned the clock back' If you're…

Such an important lesson for us all - when life goes to sh1t - as it often does - one can regain control. Congratulations on your success so far and wishing you all the best for your future X

How would you know you were in deficit if you weren't monitoring the number of calories you were eating?

One of the wettest years I can remember - so soggy down here in the SWest - not able to mow our grass since beginning of October! I am impressed that you are able to attempt a soggy, slippery and muddy Park Run - well done! I have been avoiding the coast path because of deep mud and am walking on lanes and tracks only.

This weekend I went to a family wedding where I saw people that I haven't seen for 20 years. I was told that I had turned the clock back years and that I looked younger than when they last saw me, in spite of me taking the decision to stop colouring my hair and to go au naturelle! Of course it is an exaggeration but it did…

I read on here somewhere that on some devices it is really easy to hit the dislike button with a random thumb - one person noted that this had happened to them a couple of times. I choose to assume that this is the reason for some of the very strange 'dislikes' one sees on here ;) Congrats on your speedy return to health…

My take on this for what it's worth. In my experience the vast majority of comments I received originated from kindness and love - even if they were a bit - 'you're losing too much/getting too thin etc (I'm far from too thin) I think you may be right that her concern was triggered by the 'sudden' shift in your weight…

My favourite is 'Do you reckon?'

Why would your family need to know that you are still going to the gym/lifting weights? As long as you and your healthcare professional are happy you are being sensible in pregnancy it's nobody else's business. I don't tell my wider family when I'm walking or swimming - no need to announce you're gyming
-
All this! Although I am blessed with the people around me - they never pass any negative comments - or even comment specifically on my weight loss. I noticed the gauntness in my face when I first lost weight but I didn't let it deter me from losing until I reached a healthy BMI and it has improved - my body seems to be…

Well done on getting close to your goal. When you get down to your preferred weight I suggest sitting there for a good few months before deciding to drop any more - keep up with (or take up) some activity and do some strength training while you eat at maintenance. My shape has improved since a period of maintenance and…

Well done - putting it in the freezer works well too ;)

Exercise so good for the mood - well done!

Well done - they may sound simple but we all know the hard work and commitment it has taken to get you into those new clothes - very pleased for you :D

Swimming lengths at the local pool - find a time when it's at its quietest and slog up and down - can really turn the brain off and just focus on the water, each stroke and counting how many lengths you've swum. Really good for mindfulness.

3 NSVs over the holiday period (there were certainly no scale ones!) - Firstly I only see my daughter every few months and nowadays she always comments on how diddy I am. At 5'7" and top of my BMI range I am hardly 'little' but I'll take what I can get. Secondly, I didn't feel enormous (except boobage, still waiting for…

Congrats on your strength - Lindt is my absolute favourite! My daughter got me a teeny box of 5 chocs for my Santa sack this year - I savoured each one of them <3

I can't remember the age of your adult daughter - but I am sure that, as she matures your relationship will improve. XX Meanwhile, breathe deeply, be the best mother that you know how to be and trust that she will sort herself out (or not - she is an adult). She apologised for her behaviour before Christmas so maybe she…

@Snarfster42 You are doing great - I wish you every success in the long term
