  • I'm giving up eating out. Even Starbucks. Hopefully it will also help me save a little money.
  • I am finishing up a 3 month heavy lifting program this week. Before this I was extreamely spotty with my gym attendance/workouts. The scale has not moved in 3 months, BUT ... I am stronger than I have ever been in my life. My clothes are looser and I have muscle definition (calves, quads, glutes and triceps especially). If…
  • Moving comfort has some great options. They can be a little tricky to get into but they hold everything in place
  • I just started taking spirulina myself. I listened to a podcast on it that weighed the pro and cons. Basically what I got from it is that it does have a lot of health benefits including a good source minerals and vitamins, but it can be really expensive. If you are eating a well balance diet, you really don't need it. If…
  • You gotta put on your big girl panties and get in there. Ask the front desk when the weight room is quietest and go then. Put on your headphones and walk in there like you mean business. If you're unsure of what to do, hire a trainer for a session or look up exercises on youtube.
  • There are a couple of really good veggie/vegan groups here. Check us out in the group section. Sending a friend request too!
  • What are you juicing? If it's all or mostly fruit , you could be getting a lot of extra calories.
  • I'm on my last month of the Simply Shredded program too. I'm pretty happy with the results, even though I haven't been following the cardio portion. Not really sure what I'm doing next but I've considered the last 3 months my start-up for heavy lifting. I've gotten comfortable being in the weight room, feel I'm performing…
  • You are my hero. Love it!
  • I like to marinate it in some low-sodium soy sauce, garlic and whatever spices I have laying around for about 10 min. Then I bake it in the oven for 45 min at about 350 degrees flipping them every 15 min or so. Tastes amazing and great on salads or just as a snack.
  • I'm 5'5" and started at 170, now at 160. I want to get down to 130-140. I've been lifting heavy so I'm slowly getting smaller with losing much weight. Hoping the scale with start moving again, but as long as I'm seeing a difference in the mirror, I'm happy.
  • Podcasts while I'm lifting - love 'Stuff You Should Know' Scottish Country Dance station on Pandora for cardio -(weird I know but I used to do scottish country dance and it makes me happy)
  • You might want to get a trainer to help out in designing a routine specifically for you and your goals. x2 a week you could easily do full body both days as long as you have a day of rest in between. If you decide against a trainer for what ever reason, there are plenty of great web sites and programs available on the…
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I get to see my gym crush every Thursday and it's often the highlight of my week. I don't know his name or really anything about him, but he's such a good motivation. I love hearing from people who have ended up dating/married to their gym crush. Gives a girl hope!
  • I know everyone says good sense of humor, but for me - I just want someone with a similar sense of humor to mine, he doesn't have to be a stand up comedian. Taller than me (i'm 5'5") Kind to others Nice Smile Smarter than me in some stuff, but not everything Supportive of my choices (working out/food)
  • I sometimes do squats while I'm brushing my teeth
  • There are a couple of really good vegan groups here that can give you all the help and support you need. I've been vegan for about 3 months and love it. I also juice in the mornings. I'll send you a friend request!
  • You're correct, with most juicers you are losing the fiber in the pulp. If you like pulp, you can add it back in to the drink. I usually just make sure I'm getting enough fiber from other foods I eat throughout the day and not worry about the juice. If you are on a juice fast, then you may need a supplement to meet your…
  • Vega is a popular brand. Comes in several flavors and also unflavored. It's the one I use most often. I also hear good things about one called Sun Warrior (I think that's the name), but I haven't tried it myself.
  • I like to eat all the salt off of pretzel sticks, let them dry in a pile and then eat them. When I was young, none of my food could touch on the plate. I would tell my mom that 'it was ruining my circus' Can't drink the last inch of beer in a bottle or can , I think it gets too warm for my tastes
  • Hmmm... kneepads, tights with shorty-shorts over and bruises everywhere. Must be a derby girl! You look great - has it improved your skating?
  • I've been a vegan for almost 2 months and I'm starting to notice some positive results health-wise. Sending you a friend request, and there are a few vegetarian/vegan groups here you should check out as well!
  • I juice a few times a week as a supplement to my diet. I usually track it as a whole fruit or veggie even though I know I'm not getting exactly the same nutrition basis as the whole fruit/veg. The way I figure I would rather over shoot my calories than undershoot or stress out about them. The only issue would be if you are…
  • Her cookbook is a great resource for making vegan versions of non-veg foods. I love the mac and cheese. The recipes are pretty simple and no weird, hard to find expensive ingredients.
  • Protein shouldn't be an issue for anyone unless they are a serious bodybuilder. Tofu and beans are both excellent sources of protein for vegetarians and vegans. The only things to watch are your iron intake and vitamin B12. If you are serious about becoming vegan do your research and read up on it as much as you can. It's…
  • You might want to check out anything by Tosca Reno. She has written several how-to books on clean eating.
  • I'm a new vegan and would love to transition to a mostly raw diet/unprocessed diet. I'm reading Crazy Sexy Diet right now and hopefully that will give me a good basis. Feel free to add me and we can support each other!
  • I'm a sort-of new vegan and I love it so far. Search the group section and you'll find plenty of support.
