  • Right there with you. 40 in June. Lots to lose.
  • Yep, 30DS is a great workout... I'm still on Level 2 after a number of weeks and it's still kicking my ample *kitten*, I find my form and therefore the workout is better if I stick with a level for longer than 10 days. Also, it DOES change your body shape. You'll feel it in your clothes if not on the scales.
  • Bris / Melb / Tas (yes, I travel a bit!). Feel free to add me.
  • I've been having the "French Women Don't Get Fat" Magical Breakfast Cream... it's delicious, light and 190cals with fruit, less without it. Here's my take on it. 100g natural (greek style) yoghurt 10 g psyllium husks (2 dessert spoons) - can substitute any ground-up non-sugar cereal (eg All Bran or similar) 5g honey (1…
  • I was about to ask the same as my DVD arrived yesterday. I'll do the same as you once I get into it and also monitor using HRM and see how close / different the 'results' are... :)
  • I found a different online calculator and worked out how many calories I would use rollerskating (as it's different from blading) and then added a new exercise to MFP Rollerskating (derby training). This is set to my weight etc, so initially registers as quite high. Like others, I only record the number of minutes that we…
  • Wine & cheese. Not just any old stuff either; the boutique and gourmet kinds. Both of these are in abundance where I live in the Tamar Valley... and generally made by friends of ours... and I LOVE them. I guess I use this conbination to wind down & reward. I really shouldn't though, I'm not a dog. :) Getting out and…
  • 200 pushups... hmmm, really? Having read and followed a metric crapload of books, magazines, DVDs etc on health and fitness, what you have suggested Merry is more in line with what I was thinking the challenge would entail. All PT's I've encountered these days are about using large and small muscles together, plyometrics…
  • I so hear you on how much it hurts. I'm a 16E. I have this bra and I LOVE IT. I could jump up and down in it all day if I had to! Seriously, my girls don't move and the straps and underwire & elastic support are fantastic. I looked up the UK link for you. It's pricey, but so worth it. Since owning a couple of these, my…
  • G'day, I'm Shan. I grew up roller skating as my uncle owned a rink, was a national speed skating champ and the captain of the Australian mens roller hockey team when I was growing up on the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast. On moving from Queensland to northern Tasmania in 2009, I thought getting back into skating…
  • I'm low to mid fitness but am carrying a lot of extra weight that is holding me back. I'm strong and work out each day but I need to get my cardio and muscle twitch actions tweaked so I can be faster and more "springy". A friend did the Challenge last year and her notes on Facebook indicated she found some parts of the…
  • THIS ...although I indulge in crusty French bread maybe twice a year as a 'treat'. For the rest, it's all wholegrains, brown rice etc. I went 'no bread/cakes/cookies/noodles/pasta/rice' etc for a while and I did feel a lot better... and who wouldn't, when cutting out highly processed grains and refined sugar?! Then my…
  • I had friends down from mainland Australia, so I decided to treat them to a Tasmanian-centric feast using fresh produce from this lovely little island - cheeses, salmon, lamb, bush pepper, vegetables and raspberries. Oh and wines from our friends' vineyard down the road... Starters - Platter: smoked salmon, chorizo, brie,…
  • Ummm... I've been there with someone like that many years ago. It did not end well. These are usually men who can't control their own lives, so they try to control yours through emotional (and in some cases worse) abuse. I hope you both know you are worth so much more than that. *hugs*
  • Yes. Sometimes I like that he supports me, like when he says, "Wow honey, you're getting more compact and toned." or, "Look at those arm muscles!" or "Your bum looks lifted." or "You're doing really well. I think your tummy has gone down." Other times when he's being supportive I don't like it, like when he says, "Honey,…
  • Well done! I started the Shred this morning as well. I really should take my measurements today so I can track the results!
  • Eye of Ra with a Gemini symbol on the back of my right hip... I am an all-seeing powerful Gem afterall. Phoenix on my left forearm... put there post getting a physically and mentally abusive a/hole out of my life. F-holes on the back of my neck... symbolising the importance of music to my life The cover art of You Am I's…
  • Add away! :)
  • Add me to that list of wagon riders! :)
  • Add away!
  • Thanks heaps for the tip... This will be a big change for me, but I'll give it a shot! :)
  • Stew, eat back your exercise calories? Really? I think I would feel odd doing that. Is this about not going below your minimum calorie intake and therefore not slowing your metabolism? I've set my activity level to sedentary as I'm an office worker, but I do make sure I get in some high intensity workouts 5 days a week…
  • Gosh yes, the vegie garden is the way to go in the long term. We put ours in last year and have been saving money and eating lovely seasonal vegetables straight from our backyard since. Sometimes it's about getting back to simpler things. The soup idea is also a good one. I put a whole roasting chicken, two boxes of low…
  • Ah, those mental obstacles to finding time and energy can be hard to overcome... here are some things that have worked in my experience... Regular exercise will actually help your wife from feeling so exhausted as well as making her feel better about herself. The trick is to do it early in the day. Getting to bed and then…
  • Spent my day studying but managed to do some exercise while listening to a lecture online! Calisthenics (pushups, sit-ups), vigorous effort 15 206 Elliptical Trainer 15 227 Total: 433 Improvement from yesterday: +100
  • okay, I was offline for the weekend... and I couldn't make it to derby training so missed out on a huge burn... anyway: 1 October - 30 mins walking - 167 calories 2 October - 60 mins walking - 333 calories
  • I have a friend who had serious success on Lite n Easy, she ended up on their ads as a success story for quite a while, and when I was still up home in Qld I did it for about a month (until my financial situation changed) and lost 6kgs. It's REALLY convenient and the food is good. I'd do it again in a heartbeat but they…
  • If your boyfriend was giving you an honest assessment based on you asking him to, and it was given with care, then that's a good thing! It would be remiss of a real partner to not be honest. Cardio will get the fat burning off, however as for the toning, strength training has worked best for this endomorph. Lots of squats…
  • Yep, I'm in. Upping the ante on my derby training days is going to be killer, but there are a lot of hours in a day!
