  • BUT are you counting calories? You have to know how many calories you are taking in and how many you are burning. I started eating healthier, recording it, and walking on my treadmill 5 days a week. I lost 25 lbs. in 90 days and a total of 36 lbs. in 180 days. The doctor told me to go with 1200 calories a day. Any calories…
  • It is unseasonably warm right now in Houston Texas! Supposed to get to 80 degrees today. Hubby and I rode all morning in t-shirts and mesh jackets and STILL broke a sweat when we stopped. I am leading my first group ride tomorrow morning with our HOG Chapter. Highs in the upper 70's and we are riding to Galveston.
  • Hi everybody! I bought my 2006 Harley Low Rider almost 2 years ago. I used to ride back in the 70's. Hubby bought his 2009 Harley Fat Boy almost 3 years ago, We ride together, we ride with others, I ride with other women, and I ride by myself. I just started working part-time at a local independent motorcycle shop.
  • I live in Houston Texas and we can pretty much ride year round. This past weekend it was in the mid 70's and I rode in a t-shirt and mesh jacket. The weather changed last night. Now I will have to wear leathers and warmer clothing. I have a part-time job at an independent motorcycle shop and ride my bike there whenever…
  • There is SO much more awareness than there was 20+ years ago. I hope that they come up with a CURE in my life time. I have lost many friends and have several that are fighting the fight. It seems to me that the drug companies are more focused on finding drugs to manage illnesses than finding a cure (= more money in their…
  • They will NOT go away. They WILL fade and become less noticeable.
  • I have a dehydrator. There are books out there, but the best I have found is this website - http://dehydrate2store.com/.
  • Early on I would plan a meal and log the portions ahead of time to see exactly what the damage would be. I would always double check it AFTER I actually ate to be sure I ate and what I logged agreed.
  • It is TOTALLY up to you! I was in the same boat as you last December. I made a lifestyle change. I started eating healthier and exercising. I made small steps and made a HUGE difference. I did NOT go on a diet. I just started making healthier choices, eating proper portions, and using my treadmill. I started on the danged…
  • I am NOT on a diet. I have made a lifestyle change - eating healthier and getting some exercise. I started this journey in early December 2010. I started losing weight immediately because I was eating so much better AND on my treadmill 5 days a week. I lost 25 lbs in 90 days and a total of 36 lbs in 6 months. I have been…
  • Congratulations! I know exactly how you feel. I went from obese, to overweight, to normal. You should be proud!
  • That's what it shows when I try to add Quaker Instant Oatmeal Maple Brown Sugar.
  • Are you actually using the food diary? Are you being honest when you log your food? How many calories are you eating? How many calories are you burning?
  • Some will agree and some won't. BUT I use Splenda Blend to cut some of sugar in recipes. It is half Splenda and half sugar. I reduce the fat and calories in a lot of recipes and they taste just as good. Of course, eating ONE proper serving size is important (as opposed to half a carton or half a pie).
  • Charcoal tablets - you should be able to get them at the health food store. That is what the doctor recommended to a friend. There is also something over the counter called Beano, but I have never used it.
  • Grace, I hope you like it here. I found this site MUCH better and easier to use than other sites. Take it one day at a time. You CAN do it. Mary
  • I have been a heavy sweater all my life. I got it from my dad. BUT when I was heavier I sweated more easily and a lot more. If it is relatively new, you should consult your doctor. There could be an underlying reason. Good Luck! Mary
  • Yes they are probably fine. I have eaten yogurt after the expiration date.
  • I am 56 YO. I was told last December that I had to go on diabetes meds. I told the doctor to give me 90 days. In 90 days I lost 25 lbs, got my blood sugar back in the normal range (no meds needed), and lowered my blood pressure and cholesterol. I have now lost 36 lbs and have been maintaining for the summer. As soon as…
  • I make tea a gallon at a time. I no longer drink sodas. I drink lots of water and several glasses of iced tea in the evening. I will try the pinch of baking soda because I have noticed that my tea is cloudy at times.
  • First thing in the morning after going to the bathroom with no clothes on is my time. Your weight can and will fluctuate A LOT during the day.
  • Also, is your mom a member here? If not, encourage her to join and keep a daily food and exercise diary. It REALLY helped me. Mary
  • I am 56 years old. I started on MFP in December recording, weighing and measuring EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. It really opened my eyes to what I was eating, portion size, etc. I started off on the treadmill. In the beginning I could only do a couple of minutes - THAT is how out of shape I was. I slowly worked up to more…
  • You have to venture out into the "real food" world sooner or later. Hopefully you will know in advance where you are going and can look up the menu and such ahead of time. Even if you can't; you should know by now what is good for you, portion sizes, etc. Go, eat in moderation, and have a good time! I bet you will surprise…
  • Coffee is the only vice I have left. I love it and I am NOT giving it up! I used to drink a whole pot (10 cups). I am down to three. I measure my Splenda Blend and liquid Coffeemate. Drinking a cup now - UUUUUMMMMM! Mary
  • You should ask him! Mary
  • You need to make your food diary available for others to see. You say you haven't lost any weight, BUT do your clothes fit better, are you wearing different clothes, etc. Are you eating back some if all of your exercise calories on top of your daily alloted calories? Something isn't adding up. Are you sure you are…
  • I sweat a lot. I always have. Even when I was at my full height (5' 5"0 and weighed 110 lbs. My dad and all my brothers sweat profusely also. I can be drenched and everybody else looks cool and comfortable. Mary
  • Angel Food Cake (make your own or store bought), cut the top off (about 1/3), dig a trench (save removed cake) mix sugar free strawberry jello with sliced strawberries, pour in trench, add saved cake (as much as possible), put top on cake, ice with Cool Whip, put strawberry slices on as decoration, put in fridge until…
