  • I have heard that it is not good to exercise before bed, but I have never heard why it isn't good. The only time I can find to workout is between 8:30pm & 9:30pm and then I go to bed between 10 & 10:30pm and fall asleep within minutes. Does anyone know why it's not good to go to bed shortly after excercising?
  • I always use dry oatmeal, cause there are so many eggs it is really moist and wet, plus this makes them nice and thick, but if you try the prepared oatmeal, please let me know if they are different
  • Well of course portion size is a big factor, portion size and counting calories is essential the same thing.I believe that everyone should count calories at least for a big to get and understanding of portion sizes, then after that, for most people portions size become second nature.

  • Has anyone tried this new Eat Clean way of Eating? I know its not really a diet but a lifestyle change, which I am very excited about. I'm curious if it works cause I really want to try it. it seems like I am doing a lot of it already, like eat 5-6 times a days, eating a lot of protein with complex carbs, no refined white…
  • My problem is that the tuna is so easy to prepare ( open the can and drain the water and Voila! It's done), it's cheap, it's easy to find anywhere and I like it. I'm kinda picky about fish. L:ietee, I don't understand your chart, does it mean if I weight 150+ then I should only eat a can of tuna every 9 weeks and 3 days?
  • I have never tries soy protein, but it may work. I'm glad to hear that other people like them.
  • So, I thought I found an amazing food, i can of PC tuna in water has 140 calories, 2g of fat and 30g of protein. I have been eating it dry with a bit of pepper on 2 pieces of dry multigrain toast with a no lettuce salad (1 cucumber, 1 tomato, 1 green onion, 1/3 green pepper, 2 mushrooms & 1/4 cup fat free cottage cheese)…

  • I quit a little over a year ago. I was very upset when I figured out that I had been smoking for 10 years and I was only turning 25. I quit cold turkey with a friend, we made a deal that the first one to start smoking had to wear a super hero outfit to work. Anyways at first it was easy, it was -30 below in February and I…

  • My first ah-ha moment, when I lost the first 60 lbs was when I saw myself naked in a full length mirror and I dropped to the floor and start to ball, I never believed in a million years that that was what I looked like. My 2nd ah-ha moment was when after so long I finally fit in size 9 pants and bought an entire new…
  • Okay, I'll send you a message though here, but I don't know how access email addresses from here yet.
  • I have one protein shake in the morning and I am already over my protein, the same with my fiber but everyone says you can never have enough fiber, (or like calcium for women). I always figured protein was the same, that those numbers were a minimum requirement, at least for the fibre and protein, everything I consider it…
  • Thanks Banks, I thought I was in stage 2 or 4, but now I understand, but what should I do? I am not sure of the best way to loss the last 10-20 lbs If my Maintenance calories is 1850, then Should I keep my calories at 1350 or should I increase them? Should I do more or less weights, (I do abs 3x a week, arms 1 a week and…
  • Okay, Banks, here are my numbers are, Age = 26 weight = 160 Height = 68.5 inches Activity level = Sit at a desk all day I did a calculation the other day for my Estimate Energy Requirement (EER) and according to my height, weight and age, plus the Physical Activity coefficient it said that my daily calorie intake should be…
  • Hello Everyone, I need some help! I started this program on January 21st, 2008. I weigh myself every Monday at the same time wearing the same thing (nothing). I eat all my cals, which I started at 1200 cals per day then about 1.5 months ago I increased it to 1400 after calculating my actual BMI. I exercise regularly, 5-6…
  • WINE & CHEESE I can't decide between them, so I pick both. If I didn't have to record all the calories I eat from cheese and wine, the pounds would melt off. These are the only two things that I am having a really hard time giving up, so I do everything I can to have them and fit them in my calorie/fat/sugar intake.…
  • Finally after 6 WEEKS of not losing even an ounce, I have hit my first 10lbs weight loss goal. I now only have 20 more lbs to go. But for everyone who has hit this dreaded plateau, a few words of advice to get you through it! 1.Stick with it, I never varied from my calories, well maybe a little on the weekends, but…
  • I lost weight when I went off the pill, but I was already losing weight from diet and exercise so I don't know if it was from that or not. either way, I wouldn't count on it, just do what your doing now to lose weight,
  • I would say no, those are free, and as viviakay said, the anger/upsetness cardio will offset any calories accumulated from the latte. So sorry about you and your car.
  • Congrats on the weights loss:drinker: !!! What did you do to get out of the plateau, I have been at a stand still for 5 weeks now and I don't know what to do anymore!
  • For valentines day I made Jamaican Pork Loin This recipe includes the whole meal, with meat, and roasted apples, onions and sweet potatoes all in one pan and a sauce. It's made with two pork tenderloins, usually two per package, which yields 4 serving per tenderloin. If your interested, please let me know, I have the…
  • Has anyone actually met their weight loss goals right through to the end? If so, I would love to hear how much you lost, how long it took and what you did. Did you follow MFP exactly or did you vary a bit? I just need a little motivation to show that goals can be met and have been by other people. Thanks everyone!

  • Does anyone use a rowing machine? I HATE CARDIO and have always loved doing weights. The only thing I have for cardio is a bike, which I REALLY hate, I have been thinking about getting a rowing machine. I tried one out the other day in a store. It didn't seem that bad. I like the aspect of low impact, total body workout I…
  • I am always hungry after eating, doesn't matter how slow I eat, so what I do is drink a big glass of water and have a no calorie/ sugar free piece of gum or one of these Baskin Robbins hard candies that taste like Mint chocolate ship ice cream. By the time I am done with either of those. I am no longer hungry and the best…
  • Yes I believe in starvation mode HOWEVER, people seem to be misunderstanding it, from http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/calories/burning_calories/starvation.htm "as a general rule though, most nutrition experts recommend never going below 1,000-1,200 calories a day if you're dieting on your own. It's also worth bearing…
  • I talked to my doctor about starvation mode, and he said that as long as I have a minimum of 1200 net calories a day I am fine and should be losing weight, and that starvation mode does not just kick in every time you are 100-200 calories under your net calories. My strength training workouts never go over 200 calories,…
  • I quit last year about this time. I figure after smoking for 10 years and only being 25 it was about time. My girl friend and I made a bet that the first one to start smoking again would have to wear a super hero costume to work and we told everyone about it. Let me tell you, that was motivation! I started eating rice…
