Advice The Dreaded Plateau

Finally after 6 WEEKS of not losing even an ounce, I have hit my first 10lbs weight loss goal. I now only have 20 more lbs to go. But for everyone who has hit this dreaded plateau, a few words of advice to get you through it!
1.Stick with it, I never varied from my calories, well maybe a little on the weekends, but everyday is a new day, and it doesn't matter what happen yesterday or what you eat, just start everyday off fresh and new, stick with the program, it does work.
2. Cardio does work. I HATE cardio, but I got tired of doing weights every morning, for an hour and found it easier to jump on the bike for 30-45 mins at night while watching TV . I burned through much more calories, got my heart rate up higher and found it was something I could do with my boyfriend around. I still do weights and circuit training three times a week, but I also do a lot more cardio, 5-6 times a week, and I feel much better, plus this gives my muscle a chance to recuperate after the hard 1-hour workouts I do.
3. EAT YOUR EXERCISE CALORIES, I never really thought this was important, but since I started making up for those calories, the weight started dropping.
4. Schedules are great, they keep you on track and give you goals to shoot for. Plus, schedule days off, you will look forward to them, as well as feel really good about the days you did workout that you won't feel guilty for taking a day off because it is planned. Plus, it gives you back up day, if for some reason you have to skip a day during the week you can always make up for it on your day off.
5. Changes is good. If you can't seem to get out of the plateau, then try something different, change you calorie intake ( I actually increased mine from 1200 to 1400), your exercise types, more cardio then weights, or more weights and less cardio or a different type of cardio. Change is always a great way to get your metabolism working and to shock your body to start losing weight again. The body can get used to the same things day in and day out and will adjust to them, so change it up, wake you body up and get it moving again!
THE DREADED PLATEAU WILL FIND EVERYONE HERE, the way you deal with it determines how dedicated you are to your weight loss goals. I know I really wanted to loss the weight so I tried anything I could until I started to loss the weight, and now here I am with a smile on my face, so happy about the improvements I have made.

good post...I think I'm hitting one now...I reached 10 lbs and have been here for a bit....its not terrible, but I want more bwah ha ha! lol
I love my cardio, no real weight training yet...maybe I'll do that ....I do cardio jam, abs and lunges etc...
