  • I recently went through a three-month period, after my grandfather died and I had a ton of finals going on, when I couldn't stop eating. I know how you feel. It brought me back almost to where I had started. I kept thinking "I'll be back on track tomorrow" but then I wouldn't be and I just go so upset with myself I…
  • I just went to a movie and just had a diet soda. If I had bought popcorn or candy or something, of course I would have eaten the whole thing even though I wasn't hungry. As someone said, it's just mindless snacking. However, since you asked for suggestions, and I hate unresponsive posts, why not bring in one of those…

  • I'm in! Didn't find this in time to start today, but I'll catch up tomorrow :)
  • Someone doesn't train legs... Lol
  • I'd just like to throw it out there that when you gain fat, you create fat cells. These cells do not disappearwhen you lose weight, they just shrink. The presence of these cells makes it easier to regain weight that you have lost. That's seriously depressing, isn't it?
  • When I travel, I want to not be the "fat American" but as hot as the Americans on TV. You know what I mean? I'd like to have my pick of guys. That sounds horrible, but you said selfish, right? For once I'd like men's attention to be on me because they find me attractive. Sometimes I think guys don't even see me as a…
  • I would suggest tilapia- 4 oz filet is less than 100 calories. Season with salt and pepper and bake, squirt with lemon and enjoy with a huge pile of steamed veggies. sometimes when I'm very hungry with few calories left, I eat two different vegetables at dinner. Big salads are great, of course. What else can I tell you?…
  • If what you've been doing has worked, and you've lost weight (a stone in 3 months is great, congrats! ) then you shouldn't change. The tdee and bmr calculators online are all estimates, the best way to figure out what works for your body is through trying it. You've created a calorie deficit and lost weight so far, and if…
  • Total geek over here too! I'm a history, lit, art, and comic nerd. :) sending a friend request
  • bump. Thanks for sharing!
  • If you can't have nuts, try seeds. I buy raw pumpkin and sunflower seeds and roast them with some salt. They're easy to bag and take with you, and are protein and fat dense. Other than that, I carry around a lot of chopped up fruits and veg, Greek yogurt, stuff like that. I usually end up with at least one tupperware…
  • No. Muscle does not turn to fat, unless you ask the bros at the gym. Lol.
  • I must say, all the worst advice I've ever gotten has been from my school gym coaches. Isn't that comforting? The people hired to teach school children about fitness still spout fonts of wisdom such as, "girls should do high reps with low weight to tone." Also, even when teaching us about healthy eating, they never…
  • Calorie restriction shouldn't affect your menstrual cycle until you are either severely malnourished or undernourished. That should not be happening at 1200 cal per day (unless you are a very large or active person, in which case you need to eat more calories because you burn more). If you are missing periods (more than…
  • I can honestly say that these days most of my sugar cravings can be satisfied with fruit. Apples (used to eat macintosh, but now I love granny smiths and they are much lower in sugar), strawberries, bananas, oranges (these especially, they are really refreshing and I never really want to eat after I've had an orange),…
  • Love this. Love Batman. What I tell myself to get through workouts is basically, "Human bodies are capable of this. Just look at Batman. I can do this." Otherwise, my favorite quote is from Aristotle, "we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit."
  • I'm 35lbs and 2 Jean sizes down from last July and I'm really just now noticing. It helps when the clothes get loose, that really makes you look objectively. Yet there are still times when I look at myself super critically and can't see any difference. I never took progress pictures (should have) but in old photos I'm…
  • I used to get pain in my shins when I ran, and I thought they were shin splints, but my trainer told me, no they're not, they are just weak muscles because you are unused to running. He gave me a quick exercise to do, I did it every day for a week, and I haven't had pain since. I also showed this move to my tennis partner,…
  • I'm just coming up on my half way mark, but I have noticed quite a few perks thus far... Smaller ring size. Calf-high boots fit. I haven't had a menstrual cramp in like 15 pounds (this is a huge blessing). It's easier to cross my legs. Since changing my diet, my nails (of which I have always been proud, and didn't think…
  • Wow you look fantastic! Congrats on reaching your original goal! I wish you the best of luck with your fertility treatment, and with continuing your journey to health! You'll be a fantastic role model for your children!
  • Last year I gave up all meat (except fish, dunno why). This year I'm giving up bread. Not all carbs, like I'll still eat rice, potatoes, and of course vegetables and fruits. But no more rolls, pastries, sliced bread, baguettes... Ugh. Basically everything I love. But hey, it IS supposed to be a sacrifice. ETA: good luck…
  • Bump! Omg these sound so good! I'm going to pick up unsweetened apple sauce soon just to make these!
  • I only use milk when I eat cereal, and I use unsweetened almond milk because I like the consistency, it's low calorie, and I actually find the idea of drinking another animal's milk a bit freaky. But that is just personal preference. Cow's milk is higher in protein, but the almond milk I use has more calcium. I've never…
  • I'm up one pound from last week. Not sure if that was a weird reading last week or water weight or what. This was my weight yesterday, because I actually forgot this morning, lol. Starting weight: 190 Last week's weight; 186.2 Week 4 weigh in: 187.2 It's alright, though. I've kinda stopped caring what the scale says, and…
  • Sorry this is a couple of days late. Everyone is doing an amazing job! Let's keep it up!
  • Hey everyone :) this week has been ok for me. I got several compliments this week on my weight loss so far, so I'm feelinggood.
