I have a coworker who says, 'and all that rigamarow', and I want to smack her. It's "RIGAMAROLE"! And Mythbusters has a Canadian announcer who can't pronounce words to save his life. I can live with 'PRO-gress' vs "prog-ress', but the one episode he kept saying "PIE-laster" instead of 'PILL-aster' (for pilaster) and I…

I'd sit down with a bag of Groff's potato chips to eat a few, and an hour later, I'd eaten the entire family size bag plus two glasses of Coke. McDonalds Big Macs and fries, and any soft chocolate chip cookie I could find. Change of eating habits: I don't remember when I had a Coke or fries last, chips give me heartburn,…

I live in jeans. What was so disheartening is that when I'd look for jeans in larger sizes, I kept coming across those horrible elastic waistband jeans. Lee Riders 20's fit me well, but I bit the bullet and paid more for Lane Bryant jeans. I started going to the gym and went down to 18s in the Lee's. Now, the 18s are loose…

The gym I use is pretty good at 'no creeps'. But I can't stand the gum crackers. Fine, chew gum during a workout if it helps keep your mouth from drying out, but there is NO need to snap it like a rifle report every 30 seconds.

That's actually an inflammation of the plantar fascia and is only a symptom of the real problem, which is a torn ligament in your heel. When the muscle tears away from the heel bone, the bone grows a little bit to hold onto the muscle. After a while, you get what is called a 'spur'. It never goes away and can require…

Good idea to talk to a doc first. I'd stay away from supports and instead work with a trainer or therapist to strengthen your knees and back. Strong core muscles will keep you from damaging other joints, so start there.

Weight Watchers was promoting the soup idea in the 90s. It was a cabbage based soup and you put in any kind of non-starchy vegetable you like (green beans, beets, carrots, etc.). You'd eat that for one or two meals a day. For variation, you could add potatoes or chicken and still have a relatively low calorie soup. I loved…

I'm 59, soon to be 60. Just had a hip replacement, so my activity is WAY down from what I planned. The good news is I managed to lose 14 lbs before surgery. I'd been getting to the gym at least once a week for strength training and treadmill or elliptical workout, and walking more in daily activities. Being stronger…

Don't have tea. Or, only have tea with meals. Drink water all other times. I once had huge chocolate bar in the cupboard but was trying not to eat it. I told myself if I ate 2 grapefruits I could have that bar. I just couldn't work myself up to eat 2 whole grapefruits, so I didn't touch the chocolate either.

That's always what I'd heard too. Find out what Michelle Obama does. That is one toned lady! Her arms are awe inspiring.

Great idea! Thanks.

My husband didn't even consider I'm 14 years older than he is when he proposed. It's really not an issue, I just have more cultural references than he does. As far as me considering an older man? Or even one my age? Heck no! They're too old for me!

My difficulty is in keep it DOWN to 1200 a day while still getting in all the nutrition I need. I still can't get in enough calcium, which I need at my age to prevent bone loss. I've finally figured out how to get enough iron without supplementing with pills. I love Grape Nuts, so I've switched from Smart Ones breakfast…

I did get to the gym twice last week, and twice this week. I'll hit 4 times this week, plus a walk around our huge mall.

Age 59 Height 5'4" (the doc says I shrunk to 5'3.5", but I think it's because I have no cartilage in my hip.) Weight 216.5 Bust 47 Waist 44 Hips 48.5 Thigh 27.5 Going for hip replacement Feb 6, so I want to lose as much as possible and get in as good of shape as I can by then so recovery is faster and my mobility is easier.

Try one of the fat free coffee creamers. I don't use sugar when I use them and they taste great. This was in response to the coffee question.

Eat it the next day.

7.5 lbs lost since just before Thanksgiving. Even lost .5 lbs that week. This is helping me make better food choices and resist temptations. However, 1200 calories seems a little austere, so as soon as I lose 10 lbs, I'll allow myself a small treat. I'm using the companion app, Runtastic Pro to keep track of my activity. A…
