  • I'm in the same situation. My first Marathon is in May and I'm thinking of a 1/2 in Feb. It will only be my 2nd time running a 1/2 and I'd love to improve my time, but it is to be run at marathon pace which means I'd have a slower time...but the medal is really awesome so I might just do it anyway. :D
  • Thanks for the great report! I'm planning on starting to train shortly to run my first marathon in the spring. I've just finished my first season of racing so this was really interesting and helpful to read.
  • Right, they will be two different races. The first one I made a few mistakes-thought I was starting off well until I heard my time at my first and second km and realized I still hadn't slowed down and was going too fast. Then I pushed my way through a long and then steep hill at the 10k mark and never did regain the pace I…
  • I forgot I joined this group! I need to come here more often so I can stop bugging my non-runner friends with all my chatter. :D I've been running a year and this was my first race season. I finished my first 1/2 marathon a few weeks ago (1:50:48) and if I can get my shin healed up this week (grrr) I'm doing my 2nd in 3…
  • I would love to be able to run in the country but I'm too scared of dogs running out at me and you don't know what they'll do when they reach you. I have my phone with me and stick to town or the conservation area behind my house. I'd really love to run without being scared.
  • I'm exactly the same. I've gained 12lbs from my lowest. I'm still doing weights and running (planning my first 1/2 marathon at the end of summer), but my food is ridiculous. I think I need to go back on my journals from a year ago when I was still trying to lose to see the difference. For some reason I started thinking…
  • I was a little over 200 lbs when I started my Couch 2 5k. I've had a few times when my shins hurt and I had to take a few days off, but once my legs built up a little I didn't have problems. Run on softer trails when you get started if possible. Don't be afraid of taking breaks. I pushed myself a little hard and stressed…
  • I've started today, so great timing. :) I'm pretty nervous about it because I love sweets. I'm very active though so hopefully things won't change too much for me. I know it will always be a battle and I'm pretty sure I'll have to keep track of calories the rest of my life.
  • I'm 41. I eat 1800-2000 calories/day but I exercise every day. I run a few times/week, walk on the treadmill on the non-running days and lift weights from home 3x/week. I've been overweight all of my adult life, so I can't say if turning 40 made a difference since that is when I lost all my weight. :)
  • Congrats! I remember my first outdoor run last summer. Now I've completed my first 5k race and am going in my 2nd in 2 weeks. :) Speed will come.
  • I was around 200 lbs when I started my couch to 5k. A year later (2 weeks ago) I ran my first 5k race and won my age group and was the 2nd female in the race. :) I grew to love running even though I could barely make it through the couch to 5 k program. It was so hard, but such a HUGE accomplishment to me. Good luck!!
  • I've just started it the last few weeks and the stretching is so helpful. I find it boring, but love the feeling of getting my body stretched out, so I'll keep it up.
  • Ta-Ta Tamer Lululemon. Mine were huge-down to 34D now, but when I started I couldn't do a single jumping jack because of my breasts. That bra lasted through many pounds lost, and now I got a new one in my size that should last for a long while now that I've stopped changing sizes. I'd invest in a good bra.
  • Work hard enough to make a sweat each day and measure your food carefully. Remember to count out all of the extra bites you might take in the day because they add up. Keep at it. I had several times where the weight just wouldn't come off but then after a few weeks I'd suddenly lose 5-6 lbs in one week. Good luck with the…
  • Great suggestions! Snacking has been what I feel is my worst habit that is slowing me down from completing my weight-loss. My meals aren't usually that big, but my snacks are always so high. I'm also one who grabs handfuls of cereal, a cookie or bite of leftovers when I'm stressed, rushing, bored etc. I log most of them…
  • Keep running! You are doing fantastic! I started a couch to 5k when I was 200 lbs and just loved it. Don't worry about your time at all right now. It will come down. :)
  • Start now. You'll feel so proud when the weight comes off and your muscles start showing. Plus it helps with all your other exercises.
  • Mine is similar and I'm about the weight you are now. I hate that I can feel all the stomach muscles I've made but can only (barely) see the top ones. I have a lot of scar tissue from different surgeries (not weight-related) so I don't think surgery is an option for me, but I'm going to keep losing slowly to see what…
  • You aren't alone. Mine is definitely thinner and I lose way more in the shower than before I started losing weight. Once I started noticing it, I started a multivitamin and that might have helped slow it down. Hopefully you can find a solution. Keep at the weight-loss, but maybe slow it down a little to give your body…
  • I'm the same height and aiming for the same goal of 130 lbs. I have 3 lbs left to lose but have been on the last 10 lbs for 4 months now. :P I eat 1800-2000 cal/day so that is why I'm losing so slowly. I know we should ignore the scale, but I just want to be able to say "I'm done" and move onto maintenance now too.
  • I'm 5'5" and I have 3 lbs left to get to my goal of 130 lbs. :) I thought I'd be happy there and I'm not going to change my goal, but I'm thinking 125 will be more what I'm wanting. There is leftover squishiness in my belly that I'd like gone. :)
  • Lululemon TaTa Tamer. I couldn't do jumping jacks until I got that bra. It fit through many sizes too and I'm just replacing it now.
  • I do 30-40 min of weights 3x/week at home, an app called Seven every day at least once, and the rest running or walking on an incline on the treadmill or running outdoors in better weather.
  • I fought my way through my exercise this morning with a cold. I was trying to talk myself out of doing weights until tonight after work, but so glad I got them done. Snacking before lunch when I was getting the kids food ready was a bit out of control, but I'll cover it later with a quick walk if I'm over. Hope everyone…
  • North of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Snow here until April. :)
  • Great loss! I find weekends easier since I can get out of the house (normally home with home child care business) and I'm not in my kitchen 20x/day. :D
  • I think it was last Feb when I started my couch-5k program. Now I run 3-4x/week 5k, 10k or just intervals. I love it but I'm on the treadmill for the next 4 months until the snow is off the sidewalks. I run a little during my walks outside, but I'm too scared of falling on ice. Hopefully in the spring I'll be brave enough…
  • I eat it everyday too, but I have to have it individually packaged or I'll eat until it's gone. I ate 2 of those Terry's Orange Chocolates over Christmas and still lost 2 lbs. :D Stuff like that I inhale so can't keep around.
  • I didn't mind losing the boobs so much-I still kept enough, but I'm another one that hates how they are so deflated. That was my biggest surprise in my weight-loss.
