  • I hear ya, I went 4 months doing the exact same (under cals, exercise every single day) to no avail. I lost NOTHING. I am now losing 1 to 2 pounds a week on a Liver Cleansing Diet. I highly recommend trying it! Has been an absolute life saver for me and I don't have to count calories, I eat when I'm hungry and have heaps…

  • Fyi I didn't make a blanket statement, I also included other factors in my initial post (see bold). You clearly have a very simplistic view of metabolic function if you believe that calories are the only factor relevant to weight management.
  • your lack of ability to perceive my comments is duly noted. I won't bother repeating myself.
  • ^^ thank you

  • no way, I easily ate no more than 1200 a day for 4 months without losing a single gram. In fact I was struggling to get to to 1200 each day. I weighed everything and did ridiculous amounts of exercise to no avail. I am not saying it doesn't work for all people, just that there is more to weight loss than calories in,…
  • a) They are empty carbs, there is no nutrient in sugar, cereal is usually fortified with synthetic vitamins and minerals as well as including grains which contain nutrients. The nutrient is not from the sugar. b) Carbs high in fibre actually assist with the reduction of water retention c) refer to a d) Exactly what list…
  • I simply don't eat REFINED sugar. All sugars are not the devil but a) refined sugar is literally empty calories b) it causes you to retain water c) there are healthier alternatives that actually give you nutrition (ie. whole fruit, yogurt etc) d) it can cause insulin resistance which can, in turn (in some people) lead to…
  • honestly, I really don't think 1200 calorie diets work. This is from my own experience of course, basically you should work out how many calories you need to eat to lose weight based on your height, weightloss goal, age and a few other factors. I found I actually hold onto weight if I eat less than 1600 a day and can't…
  • Hi Sasky! Thank you so much for your reply! actually that has helped so much, I will raise my cals to 2000 now and see how I go! Bub is on solids now as she is 6 months and is a fantastic eater so I'd say I'm not making 500 cals worth of milk but I might be around 3-400. Congratulations on your little bubba!! How lovely,…
  • Thank you everyone for your replies. I know a lot of people believe in calories in calories out but that is only one aspect of weight loss, as others have said perhaps its a hormonal thing or maybe I need to eat a little more. I'm going to up my calories to 2000 to make sure I keep up a good milk supply. Of course…
  • I'm eating 1600 a day and never eat back my exercise or breastfeeding calories. I weigh everything and add my recipes into mfp so that I get exact calorie value for dinners and snacks. I was wondering if I should up my calories too but am scared it will make me gain. I understand that breastfeeding might not be helping and…
  • I posted about that a few days ago nikki, I'm on it too. Lost 400g after the first 4 days!
  • you have to be careful eating too much protein can be hard on your kidneys. I'd add some salad greens too and other low cal, low carb veggies like heaps of spinach, broccoli and such. :)
  • why are there infomercials? i mean who the f*** watches them?! :open_mouth:
  • It's morning tea time. Ohhhhh yeaahhhh
  • right, now we have that out of the way. OP just try eating more veggies and lower sugar fruits if you're a bit worried about sugar. Also eating lots of whole grains is always good :) Berries are my fave low sugar fruits as they still taste sweet and delicious!
  • While fruit and refined sugar have the same two components (glucose and fructose = sucrose) whole fruit has a lot of fiber, which actually slows down your body's digestion of glucose, so you don't get the crazy insulin spike (and subsequent crash) that candy causes. That also means your body has more time to use up glucose…
  • Oh also, frozen stir fry veggies are a must if you only have a microwave, you can chuck them in a bowl with some soy sauce and nuke them until cooked. You can also buy 90 second brown rice you can do in the microwave :)
  • It sounds like you are already on the right track... If I were you I'd be getting a second opinion as his recommendations seem shaky. Eggs are high in good cholesterol not bad you could definitely do with some more whole grains though for B vitamins etc. Oats in your smoothies could help this, I usually use about a quarter…
  • I thought this too and then I met 'the one' got married and had a child :open_mouth: but I'm still finishing my degree and we're planning to travel. You can have it all ;)
  • hubby is 4 years older than me. I like it that way but have been out with/attracted older guys before, I found them much more attractive when I was dating, something to do with being big and strong and mature lol any way I wouldn't go younger as I'm only 22 now :-o and have been with hubby since I was 19. If I went too…
  • what harvey said, great documentary, it's basically a really high nutrient diet that lets your body rest and heal. I've juiced in the past and had great results, even if you juice for a couple of meals instead of eating you will see a difference really fast!
  • chris, second row the one with the pretty lady in it too. Lovely photo!
  • Atkins didn't work for me at all, I ended up gaining weight! I was really accurate with it too :( I'm on 'lose baby weight' now, just started today so don't have any results yet!
  • That's awesome! I'm planning to homeschool too, that should keep me nice and busy!
