You can't go wrong with the Bose IE2 earbuds.... Yes, theyre an investment, but well worth it.... The StayHear technology keeps them in my ear and keeps the sweat out. Best 100 bucks ever spent :)

Garmin Forerunner 305 sounds exactly like what you are looking for. Amazon sells them really cheap for 120 bucks or so. Best of luck in your training!!!

also, focus on landing on the balls of your feet instead of your heel first. landing on your heels will put more pressure on the shins.

Hate to be a buzzkill, but why not start with something more manageable such as a 5k to start and work up your endurance!

Dam to Dam is always a fun time. Thats the first week of June. There's also a Des Moines Marathon. Google them and I'm sure theyd have the exact dates.

Do you feel better? Do you have more energy? Are your clothes fitting a little better? The number on the scale shouldn't be the ultimate goal. Don't let one week be the last resort. Keep going and next week those pounds will fly off!!!

If you want Chick Fil-A every once and a while, EAT IT! You can't stop living your life and depriving yourself of all the awesome things it has to offer. Your body doesnt sense "OH MY GOD NOT CHICK FIL A" it only registers food as food. Have a little less for dinner and everything will be fine!

Jenn what kind of elliptical are you using? At my gym the Precor's have a "weight loss" program that is 4 minutes of light training similar to a job and switches to 4 minutes of high intensity training with a high resistance. This is what I typically do for 33 minutes on my off days of c25k.

I used to hate getting up so effing early too until I just simply made the decision that this is what needed to be done.
