I get the same way as you. If you can't hop in shower right away, change out of your sweaty clothes or if you aren't sweaty just layer back up. I got that way on Sunday and it wasn't that cold, probably mid 40's but then again I ran in shorts and a short sleeve shirt (I get really hot running) after half hour drive home…

I have a "regular" size spibelt and my IPhone 5 fits in it just fine. I used to carry it in its case, but found it easier to get in and out of the belt if I just put it in a plastic baggie. Protected from sweat, rain and you can also still use the touch functions through the baggie.

Dogs are not people, but they are part of families. yes everyone should have control over there dogs at all times, doesn't mean a door isn't left open on accident or a leash isn't dropped by accident, **** happens. If one of my dogs got kicked, I would defend my dog. But not only that, where is the intelligence is kicking…

Good luck! I am sure you will do great! I can not say I have ran that far so I can't get advice from experience. But I did run a trail half with 4 creek crossings, so wet feet pretty much the whole time. And I've ran 20+ milers with wet feet from wet grass and such, I just glide the crap out of my feet and that seems to…

I think you could do it..I have only ran 1 full marathon..and I ended up running it a lot slower than I could have (mental thing) but I was actually less sore after that than any half I have ran, just because of the slower pace. I just ran back to back halves this past weekend, a trail half on Saturday then I ran with…

I haven't ran a 50K yet..gearing up for my first in October. But I think the biggest will be what terrain you are running. the course i'm running can very easily be done with "street' shoes. But I ran a more technical HM last weekend so I had bought trail shoes for that race and also because they hold up better when wet. I…

like some of the above posters..find running friends or family :) I have ran races in Minnesota, KC, Des Moines, San Antonio (also from Nebraska) and most of those I had someone with me to share cost. But my sister is an active runner too, so it is fairly easy for me to find company :) But I like cold weather running so…

my go to shorts...love, love, love them!! http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1179249/nike-filament-dri-fit-shorts-womens.jsp They are long enough that there is no rubbing of the inner thighs and long enough they don't ride up!

I can't offer advice as my first ultra (50K) is in October, and like the prior poster it is a 3 looper. I ran 22 miles this weekend on wet trails, I did change my socks and re-glide my feet after the first 10 miles. So for me, my bag drop will probably have 1-2 pairs of socks, glide and my Taillwind (this AWESOME!…

you should be careful not to "over stretch" after a run too. Your muscles are already loose and if you over stretch afterwards you may do more damage..I was having some major calf issues and I kept stretching thinking that was the problem and ultimately made the issue worst. You could try your run out and see how it goes,…

I can do crunches and planks and most ab work out without hurting the next day..unless I run first. You mentioned you ran. After your run, do some crunches planks or what ever other ab workout you want.. I can't do nearly as much after I run and it makes me sore...just an idea :)

I would tend to agree with the slowing down. I have run 9 halves and 1 full marathon. I would run almost all of my runs at about the same pace which wasn't more than 40 seconds slower than my half PR...I would finish the runs, but they were hard and they sucked and i began to not really like running. I stalled on any…

I just recently got a pair of saucony peregrine 4. I am in love with Saucony and all my road shoes have been Saucony..so it made sense to go that way with trail shoes. The are a very light shoe with a 4 mm drop. I have ran twice in them. Once to try them out, ran about 5 miles and then really took them out this weekend and…

as for the training schedule..I may modify it. I think I'm going to aim more for just time on my feet. Like go out and run for 4 hours or 4.5 and such..I don't want to get too hung up on the miles when out on the trails. And some of trails it will be hard to know my exact mileage anyways. I'm not fast! My best half time is…

The course is 3 loops. There will be two "fully stocked, buffet style" aid stations. One at the start/finish and one at the half way mark. There will also be two un-manned water stops (you can refill bottles but no cups) around miles 2.5 and 8 of each loop. There will also be a bag drop at the start/finish. The course is…

I can tell you stairs work. I ran the stairs at my work on Monday 15 flights (broke up in two runs) but my calves literally still hurt from it! I have plenty of hills to choose from around me, so that generally isn't a problem. If there is a parking garage you can use, that would be a good hill, running up the parking area?

I think it is probably the heat. I have a 30lb terrier mix, all legs. I believe he is around 9 years old (pound puppy) during the cooler months he can easily go 9-10 miles with me. When it is warmer he can't handle it. He can go around 3-4 but is dragging behind towards the end. I have retired him until fall.

quick note on the finisher shirts. Minnesota is state that does finisher shirts. I have ran two different races up there and they both had finisher shirts. I kind of like the idea...

I am not worried about the placing packing up around me....I don't want that to be the race experience for my friend. I am used to having the cheering crowds and crowded water stops and all that goes along with being in the middle. I don't want her to feel "demoralized" I guess that is what this article made me think…

I agree with you. It is about the effort for me. I understand enjoying the race, but at the same time you need to be putting in an effort, the volunteers are there because you need them. But if you are just out there to "lollygag" then you can go for 26 mile walk on your own time. But if you are out there trying, putting…

I do agree Lincoln has great crowd support (so long as the weather is nice!) I am running in Duluth on the 21st, week away still. No I didn't get into the Lincoln Halfsy, and did seriously consider the double half, but the timing was bad. I'm doing a small half in Loganview (by Fremont) labor day weekend, ran it last year…

Grandma's Marathon or half in Duluth Minnesota. June 21st this year. You run along side Lake Superior for either 26.2 or 13.1 miles :) Straight (until the last mile or so when you get into Duluth) But it is fairly flat and you get the lake breeze. I ran in last year and am doing it again this year. The weather is typically…

sort of off topic, but funny, because just today my sister and I had just finished our run over lunch. I can say it was a sweaty warm run. We were walking back to the gym and some random lady holding a phone to her ear and all dressed up walked passed us and looked right at us and said "Good job". I remember thinking for a…

I cannot give advice on running that long in that kind of heat! I run in hot weather, but so far only 5-6 miles if it is over 75. All my halves have been cooler than 65..But I can attest to loosing a lot of water/sodium on runs. In a 6 mile run at 70 degrees I loose 3-4 lbs (did a sweat test) I can get pretty bad headaches…

I really like the both the honey stinger gels and chews. I was mainly relying on the chews until i ran my first marathon and was concerned with carrying so much "Stuff" so I switch to GU Gel's for the last part of training and the full and hated them. I have now found the honey stinger gels and like those so much better,…

Love Love the idea! Mine right now is my best friend whom I have known since second grade, I convinced her to sign up for the warrior dash with me this coming June. She hasn't ran in probably 20 years. I have been coaching her through the couch to 5K and cheering her on. We have gone on a few runs together and I have to…

I couldn't drink 4 beers in 5 minutes, never mind the running a mile being included!

Well I have always heard the best method is to pick a person in front of you and "reel" them in..well, when there isn't anyone in front of you, use a train :)

I have run 6 half marathons and 1 full (all in two years). My PR for a half is 2:00:36, my full was 4:51:44. I trained hard for this and had been running for 2 years. I ran two 20 milers and a 22 miler. My training pace ranges from 8:45-10:30. The full is a different beast, not saying you can't do it but I think a 5 hour…
