  • True on all counts, but since protein is a goal, and fat is a limit, I personally think it makes sense to think of it as high protein and moderate fat. In case you want to make the net carb thing easier (not that simple subtraction is hard), there is a script you can run to make it calculate the net carbs. Here's a link:…
  • I'm pretty over this discussion, so I'm just going to say, low carb, high protein, reasonable fat is working great for me. YMMV. You all do you. I'll stick with what works for me.
  • Okay, I'll let my scale know.
  • Keto is essentially low carb, high protein, moderate fat. If you limit NET carbs to 20grams a day (some limit to 50 grams a day), and eat a certain amount of protein and fat, your body enters a ketogenic state and starts relying on fat for fuel. There are calculators to figure your protein goal, and fat and carb limits.…
  • All I can say is stay safe in your keto zone and don't venture onto other message boards! I mentioned that cutting sugar and carbs had really helped me on a thread ABOUT sugar being unhealthy, and the torches and pitchforks came out of the woodwork, and I wasn't even preaching! Good grief! I'll Keep Calm and Keto On,…
  • Yeah, fiber isn't actually used by your body and doesn't really count as a carb, it just fills you up and then leaves your body. You feel full longer so you eat less. Without realizing it, you were lowering your net carb intake.
  • I actually have never been a big over-eater. I cut carbs and increased fat and protein, while staying at about the same caloric intake, and I am steadily losing weight at a healthy, sustainable rate, while not feeling hungry. My mood is also much improved. I'm not here to tell anyone else what to do, just saying what…
  • "Sugar" is simplistic perhaps, but take a look at how many of our packaged and processed foods (even the savory, non-sweet ones) have a ton of added sugar and simple carbs. This isn't the same food our forefathers ate (you have to go back further than the 50s when convenience food started to take hold.) The test for this…
  • What if you allowed yourself to eat more, but just added in more exercise? That would help with the additional calories AND the moods....at least it helps my mood.
  • I mostly run outside, and I think the key is building up time/distance over time. It IS easier to run on a treadmill - it is moving for you, it's bouncy, it doesn't change steepness unless you tell it to. Maybe try some run/walk interval training to build up your stamina outdoors....
  • Awesome! I just did that yesterday and I know exactly how you feel. Goes to show you that your body is getting stronger and stronger, and sometimes your mind has to catch up!
