Ohhhh .... may have to revisit my numbers ha. Thanks!

Why? I want to lose weight
-
To all of the above: yes I absolutely am all in for doing this slowly. I think in the past when I plateaued at 143 (in the gym 3 days a week) after about 3 months I just gave up because I thought it wasn’t working but that just meant I had to switch something up. Also, my living situation has been extremely crazy. I am…

@cwolfman13 that 5 year bit is both inspiring and terrifying all at the same time LOL. I think the key is (and I have always known this, I just have failed to implement it) is that this is a LIFE CHANGE. Not a means to an end. The methods in which I sculpt my body and feed it may evolve, but if I want results then that…

I find MFP timeline to be a big fat lie haha. It's NEVER worked for me :P MY BAD. Didn't even see the link. I'll check it out :P
-
@fitoverfortymom - no actually MFP gave me 1249 for 1lb a week with 15 lbs to lose. I upped it to 1300. My BMR is estimated @ 1467 so I thought 1300 was appropriate?

This is a great point. Yea I’ve actually been weighing myself every other day since then, and even though the scale really hasn’t gone down like it did in the first week (water weight), I can see my body is already reacting positively to the newly introduced calisthenics and upped protein levels over the past 3 weeks. I…

Just looked them up - looks like they have a ready to go shake mocha version. It’s called myoplex shred in muscle mocha. Have you tried that one?
-
Yea I actually just bought some stevia packets the other day. I’ve thought about the sugar free torani but where does the milkiness come from - the vanilla powder? I always have some quest around so I could potentially try that Oh and does it have to be iced??
-
As I said before - getting on the scale every day is OKAY as long as you’re not changing what you’re doing on the daily because of it. If a person (like my boss’ wife) can’t understand that it’s normal for their weight to fluctuate, they will get on the scale, see they’ve gained 2 lbs, and then go “oh I need to eat less”…

When you say resistance training, what exactly are you referring to? I have a machine that is a lot like the total gym (it's the cheaper version - ultimate bodyworks by weider) and it works off of resistance. I will set that up at the new house. For now, just using body weight mostly. I also have resistance bands…

That’s awesome that you’re able to do that. But I think we both have different goals. I am trying to shed weight, not pack any more on. Even if I replaced most of the fat I have on my body with muscle, I would NOT be happy. I think that would be too bulky for my liking. Besides, as I said before, I’m very sedentary.…

Lol I feel like I always have to defend my 1200 calories. I want to get down to 130-135. At 1 lb a week and a sedentary lifestyle MFP put me at 1200. I am not petite but rather a medium boned girl (thumb and middle finger around wrist touch if I squeeze hard enough lol) so it’s possible that 130-135 is too low, but I’ve…

Any “extra protein?” Define extra. Are we talking over my calorie goal? I am on 127g of protein a day and usually come within less than 10 g. On a good day I’ll have homemade egg quiche with feta and parmesan for breakfast (busy days, no breakfast), and for lunch I’ll have tuna or chicken or leftovers from dinner the night…
-
I’m at 127g of protein a day. Are you suggesting that that is too much? If so, why?
-
Well what’s crazy is I asked him yesterday - “I should be doing cardio AND strength training right?” And he said yes and agreed that muscles helps to burn fat. So idk why he thinks that I shouldn’t be having protein shakes *shrug* He also doesn’t think that anyone will lose weight eating 1200 calories of McDonald’s but I…

I hear what everyone's saying about equating this to religion or politics. The place I worked before (and am returning to), the boss and I always talked about that sort of stuff, shared healthy recipes, no prob. I know she's been trying to lose weight as she's talked to me about it, otherwise I wouldn't have said what I…

I too have been weighing myself frequently but the reason I said I should stop is because my body is starting to retain water for muscle repair. I am eating under my calorie goal of 1200, or meeting it, so I know that whatever is showing on the scale has GOT to be water or waste. Instead I am going to buy a measuring tape…
-
@cmriverside I'm leaving this place on Friday anyway LOL like for good :P
-
@cmriverside her point that you should weigh yourself every day?
-
@janejellyroll Truth.
-
@cwolfman13 I think that's great. Smaller milestones/short term goals are definitely a key factor to staying committed! Keeps your mind busy on what you've got to do to get to the next step rather than focusing on the longhaul in front of you.
-
@marysmail_2000 I love that one! Sets your mind for the whole day for sure!
-
I don't think I'll be doing back extensions any time soon (I'm too inexperienced just yet, I'd have to work up to it), but I'll definitely keep that in mind later down the line. I won't have access to a gym until 2 weeks from now, and when I do, it will be a limited one - I use my SIL's gym at her complex, which has free…

In regards to #1 - What should I do if one cheek is stronger than the other?? I'm pretty sure I know which is my weaker one - every time I do fire hydrants my right is burning and my left is like, 'naw man I'm good' lol
-
That's pretty much what I was thinking...sometimes the mental part is half the battle!

I hear you about the metabolism bit, but that still doesn't answer the question as to why we're all so hungry after breakfast. Apparently this is why (finally! an answer lol). I'm titling it: "Why we are all so dang hungry after breakfast." In short - it has to do with cortisol and insulin levels. So while my hunger isn't…

@anniee1 If eggs are your go to, you should totally check out this egg quiche recipe I've been using the past couple days. Super yummy and full of protein. I used low fat cheeses to lower the calories and fat but everything else I kept the same plus I added some green onion in with the mushrooms. I did them in a 12 cup…

A lot of posters have commented the same, and I am in the same boat for sure. I'd love to know the science behind this! I hear a lot of people saying it "jump starts" your metabolism but I also hear a lot of people saying "no it doesn't!" - but still the question remains, "why are we so dang hungry after breakfast?!" LOL…
