Steam or boil them for 3-5 minutes depending on size. You don't want them mushy. Drain, toss with a good balsamic vinegar and heat to cook down the vinegar a bit. I'm currently using a Fig & Meyer Lemon Balsamic that tastes fantastic with asparagus.

Consider your *kitten* kicked. Now get back on the wagon!

Welcome. If you are going Vegan I would not get too hung up on eating clean. As some others have said, it's not always clearly defined. Stay away from prepared foods that are heavy on salt, sugar & fat and make your own meals from scratch. If I were you I would be more focused on ensuring that your food choices are…

I'm doing Stronglifts 5x5 and finished session 17 yesterday.

Thanks for this post. I hadn't heard of hip thrusts but then I'm pretty new to weight training and only recently migrated from machines to free weights and compound lifts. I will definitely make this a part of my routine. I work out 3x per week. Should I be doing this each time or less?

I smoked my last cigaretteon 4/1/2012 at 8:47pm after a 48 year habit. The patch and Wellbutrin helped me get through the first 3 months. Deep breaths and lots of water do help. Whenever you feel the need stop and take time to remember why you are doing this. I did use hard candies as an oral substitute until I realized…

I have read that chalk not only helps with your grip but will also help prevent calluses. I don't have any direct experience with this.

There really isn't an inherently healthy/low-fat corned beef recipe you can make. That being said there are things you can do to cut down a bit on fat and calories. But a flat cut rather than point cut. It is somewhat leaner and usually doesn't have a big cap of fat on the top. Trim all excess fat from the ouside of the…

I also follow Stronglifts 5x5 as others here. There are 2 basic workouts that alternate. Workout A Squats 5x5 Bench Press 5x5 Barbell Row 5x5 Workout B Squats 5x5 OHP 5x5 Deadlift 1x5 You are supposed to workout 3x per week so the progression is A-B-A, B-A-B and so forth. You end up doing squats 3x per week every week and…

Anytime FItness. It's pretty small and most times there's never more than 2 other people there when I am working out. After the first month your entry fob will work at any Anytime Fitness facility in the world.

Oops! Yep. Dave. Good thing I have the link in my favorites. :embarassed:

I'm in week 5 of Stronglifts and really like it. The free app you can download to your phone tracks your workouts and automatically adds weight whenever you successfully complete a session. I will say, however, that I found the videos by Mark Rippetoe on youtube more useful and informative when it comes to form and…

Check the directions. Most say 1/4 cup dry is one serving.

I just made some with 2 oz of leftover roast butternut squash that I diced up and 1/2 oz of aged white cheddar. Those 2 ingredients add about 77 calories to your eggs. For color & crunch chop 1 oz of red bell pepper.

I used to work as a talk show host for a small market AM news/talk radio station and occaisonally did "celebrity" interviews. Singer Janis Ian, Eric Burdon of the Animals, Denny Hastert when he was Speaker of the House, author Arthur Golden, (Memoirs of a Geisha) and Food Network host, Sandra Lee. I met Bob Schieffer at a…

I didn't know there were rules. Am I in trouble? :embarassed:

Egg yolks freeze well. You can do them individually in an ice cube tray and thaw them for recipes.

Just finished session 13. Squats - 105 Bench - 70 Barbell row - 95 OHP - 65 Deadlift - 145 It's nice to have enough weight on the deadlift to use the "big boy" plates.
-
The stronglifts program is designed to work exactly as is described without additional reps to challenge yourself to failure. You perform 5 sets of 5 reps and if completed successfully you "challenge" yourself by adding more weight in the next session. In this case 5 lbs except for the deadlift which is 10 lbs. I finished…

Watch the youtube videos showing proper form regularly. It takes a while for all that to sink in. Good form makes a huge difference in your progression. Mehdi has some but you should also check out Mark Rippetoe, Dave Tate and Elliot Hulse.

I make a little noise too. Unfortunately, it's more of a whimper than a grunt.:ohwell:
-
Mehdi from Stronglifts recommends that your feet be shoulder width apart. That's from heel to heel. Your toes should be pointed out at about a 30 degree angle. Don't do 1/2 squats with any real weight. It's bad for your knees because you end up working quads and leaving hamstrings weak.

The moisture being expelled from the Chicken while frying also helps to prevent excessive amounts of oil being absorbed. It's important to maintain proper temperature while frying.
-
Good for you! I just finished week 3 and feel really good about it. Pay close attention to form and technique. It makes a huge difference.
-
Only if you topically apply it to your tongue.

Thank you for getting it, Maruby95.

I can't cut back to .5 lb just yet. My generation (or maybe it was just me) was raised to feel crippling guilt by giving up on goals too soon. Food porn? Hmmm. I have been looking for a new direction in life. Ponies? Is that a European thing or am I just that far out of the loop.

It took me a long time to click open this post because it just sounded so wrong. Now I'm glad I did!
