Please don't listen to that foolishness! I LOVE eating. A little too much. As an omni, I was slightly overweight and I was constantly dieting/watching my weight. Now I am 30 lbs lighter and I don't diet, I can basically eat whatever I want (within reason- plant based-foods, not talking vegan junk-food) and stay within the…

There's your answer. I hope it goes away for you, for me it comes and goes... Moreso when I haven't purged in a long time.

Everyone's body is different, but I personally like to add extra calories the day before long runs/extensive workouts. Almost like a carbo-load. That should also give you some more energy for your heavy cardio. You could also split it up and do half the day/night before and the rest throughout the weekend. Try it out and…

I am surprised no one has hit on this yet, but you shouldn't rely on such a generic formula to find your heart rate zones. As your fitness level increases, your lactate threshold will change. Read these articles and put in some time to do the test to find your lactate threshold and heart rate zones! It really will help you…

If you don't have a good running store around I would recommend you check out roadrunnersports.com. They have an online "fit test" you can use to figure out what type of shoes you need, it's actually pretty good. Check out this link as well as their "shoe dog" shoe finder service.…

I also am a vegan runner (marathoner), I usually use GU brand gels, most are vegan. You can also try dates, almonds, or bananas, but gels that contain caffeine work best for me. I usually have half of an english muffin with almond butter before I run (for anything 3 miles or more). I use fuel during a run on runs that are…

You're absolutely right, people are very harsh about veganism on this site. I'm sorry you had to get that backlash! There are a lot of people on here that believe there is only one way to eat healthy, whether it be veganism, paleo, IIFYM, etc... There are lots of way to be healthy. Veganism is one of them. I prefer it…

Yes! Coconut water is also a good source of potassium and other electrolytes. I drink it before training runs during marathon training. Works for me and I much prefer it to gatorade or other sports drinks with added sugar and chemical food coloring!

It's very doable! I myself am 5'7, 144 lbs, and a size 4. I am an athlete so I have quite a bit of muscle, but at 138-140 I am a size 2. I personally do not want to be much smaller than a 2-4, but its all personal preference. Get to a size that makes you happy and healthy, if that's 130 lbs then do it. :) Best of luck.

I just want to say how much I love your answer! You sound like an amazing, caring mother!

Great to hear! Keep it up :)

Same thing happened to me when I switched birth control. It sucks, but fortunately most of it went to my boobs. That doesn't mean i wanted the extra 7 pounds, but I guess it could be worse! Anyway, I wouldn't suggest the diet you're aiming for. Definitely eat more fruits and vegetables (think big leafy salads! yum!), but…

Most prescription weight loss pills do work, in that they severely suppress your appetite (I believe they generally work by suppressing your CNS). However, there are a ton of nasty side effects and they usually make you feel pretty awful. I'd suggest doing some research and seeing if the risks for that particular pill are…

I also checked out your profile and if your friends are calling you fat, then they probably aren't your friends!

The hubby and I are running Disney! We are using the intermediate marathon training plan from MapMyRun.com. It's working so far! Good luck!

I used the FIt Bit religiously for three months and gained three lbs... I think for some people it just over-calculates your burns. What works for me is a basic TDEE calculation with a moderate defecit (I'm close to goal so I'm not looking to lose much anymore). Good luck with your journey!

Hmmm... Sounds sketchy!

Running hurts. You can make excuses and claim aches and pains or you can just get out there and do it. In the end, it's worth it. It never gets easier, you just get better at it. I am a marathoner and to this day still have the occasional run where I'm hurting before I hit 1/2 mile. You know what I do? I keep running.…

Forks Over Knives is largely based on The China Study, which just so happens to be "peer-reviewed scientific nonsense". Pop into a Barnes and Nobles and open any page of the book (which is a very condensed summary of the study)... The author does not make a single statement without the proper evidence and reference to back…

Check out the group "Happy Herbivores" on here. It really helped me in my transiiton to veganism. If you do it right and eat the proper foods, you can be very healthy and happy as a vegan (or vegetarian). I'd suggest using the website "Oh She Glows" for recipes. Forks over Knives is a great documentary on the plant-based…

A harness will do wonders for you. My friend's husky is nearly uncontrollable on a normal leash (especially if you say "mush" lol). Try it with a leash that has some sort of spring in it so that even when he does pull fast, he'll be pulled right back.

I am a distance runner also and I tend to use calorie cycling instead of eating over 3500 calories on long run days (I'm a female on 1500 cals per day so that's a large jump for me). As long as your weekly calories even out you should be fine. Try it and see what works for you.

Eat what you like, just stay at a defecit. I am 5'6 (5'7 on a good day) and started at a higher weight than you, but I when I reached the 150's 1500 calories worked wonders for me. I am now 137 and 1500 a day still works for me to lose 1-2 lbs a week (of course it varies). Remember to net those calories, so if you exercise…

Firehouse subs uses fish in their mushrooms! Gross!

It does vary by intensity and your fitness level, but this is a good guideline.

I see what you did there

I share my king size bed with two 45 lb dogs and sometimes there isn't enough room for me. My husband will soon be sharing that bed with us again, things are about to get interesting...

I really enjoyed that!

You're starving because your body hasn't caught up to the amount of calories you burned! You may have felt like you were eating as much as you were burning, but I'm willing to bet you didn't even come close. If you're truly hungry I suggest you feed your body! (this happened to me for about 2 days after my most recent…
