  • I was 55 when I started on this journey in December 2012. My intention was to lose about 80 pounds. Life happened. My husband died. I had emergency surgery and I'm down over 100. Far beyond my goal, but I like it. YOU can do it. Slow and steady. I started out as a size 24. I'm in 10's now. I counted calories and worked…
  • I haven't read the whole thread, but I just wanted to say I don't eat to be eating. Sometimes I have 1200 and don't worry about it, because there will be days I have 2300, particularly on weekends. I just try to get it to average out.
  • I worked out the whole time I was dropping weight, so I have good muscle mass. Just age and loss of elasticity. I know I need a tummy tuck. I always have. I have a bikini scar from surgery at 14, then three pregnancies and being overweight most of adult mean that apron is just not going anywhere. I have an appointment with…
  • Mine is really nasty looking. I look like someone stuck a pin in me and deflated me. I need plastic surgery, but it's not in the cards. The only thing I can do is make sure that I look as good as a I can given the limitations. I wouldn't trade looking great in my clothing and feeling great for the weight I was carrying…
  • Awesome attitude. I'm newly single. My late husband didn't mind the loose skin. For me, it's a stressor to think about IF I someday want to have another relationship how self-conscious i'd be. I try not to worry and meanwhile will be doing lots of squats, lunges and leg lifts. Realistically, it's going to require plastic…
  • I'm curious about this same topic. I look like the saggy, baggy elephant.
  • I'm wearing shorts I wore 12 years ago. I haven't worn a pair of shorts other than to the post office in years. (I run a home based business and mail packages daily.) We went to lunch at my step-son and dil's house today. Granted, that's not exactly "public," but I thought nothing of jumping into shorts, a t-shirt and flip…
  • It's not impossible! I've lost 68 pounds since December. I watch my calories and try to stay around 1500. Some days I do better. A few days, I've gone way over--holidays, birthday parties. Never over 2300, which is more or less maintenance level. I ride my exercise bike anywhere from 25 to 55 minutes. Early on, it was 45…
  • Welcome. I started at MFP in December. I was 250 at the time, but I've been up to 266. I'm 5'9" and was 185 last Saturday. Slow and steady. And it can be done!
  • I like the Great Value (Walmart) brand better than the others. I keep a can or two around. I'll add a couple of ounces to my Lean Gourmet dinners, as they are a little short on meat.
  • It has about 80 calories per serving, and it makes me bloat.

  • Wow! WTG! Good job!
  • I had two people tell me this weekend that I've lost enough and am a nice size. I want to lose at least 17 more pounds. That's my goal, but I'm toying with dropping another 10 on top of that.
  • Absolutely a success! Keep on keepin' on!
  • I make salsa chicken in the crockpot, usually about once a week. One pound of breasts. Season with onion powder, cumin, some salt, pepper, add a can of green chiles and about 3/4 cup of salsa. Cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 8. Shred with forks. Use for burritos, sandwiches, add to Lean Gourmet meals which are tasty…
  • Congrats on your progress. We are at the same weight and have similar goals. I'm thinking I want to be at 158. I'm 5'9."
  • Absolutely a success. You were a success story the day you started on your journey, but you look amazing right now. Way to go!
  • What an exciting two years! You look amazing. Congrats!
  • Awesome weight loss. You look wonderful!
  • I don't remember who posted it, but a few weeks back, I read the most insightful response to a binge post ever. It was something like, "remember that time when you were heavy and accidentally ate too few calories and woke up thin the next morning?" That simple sarcastic post has helped me so much. One day isn't going to…
  • 1. I no longer have a stomach shelf to use to rest things on--like boxes of cool things while I'm digging through them at estate sales. 2. Due to not having as much padding on my rear, it hurts to sit on hard benches. 3. and the worst--(tongue very firmly planted in cheek) I have to buy all new shoes, because I've dropped…
  • Way to GO!!! Enjoy your meal. Eat small portions. Part of this whole weight loss journey is learning to deal with such life events. There will be banquets and weddings and birthday parties. I'm not going to be THAT person, the one who says, "I can't eat this." So I choose carefully, taking small portions. Sampling and…
  • I make a similar taco soup, but I don't use enchilada sauce or mushroom soup. I use hominy instead of corn, and I make it with chicken, pork or hamburger, depending on what we want. I add some salsa, usually the black bean and white corn salsa from Walmart.
  • It's normal to be frustrated. I'm going on the second week with no weight loss, even though I'm eating well and working out. The important thing is to keep going and not give into the frustration. We're in this for the long haul, and it does take patience.
  • I like the soft serve ice cream cones from McDonalds. You could get one of those and use it for comparison to whatever you get from stands.
  • That's a VERY cool NSV!! I remember getting to do that in 1997. I am just hoping to get pretty close to what it says on my DL when I renew it later this year.

  • Great NSV's! Thanks for sharing.
  • Do you have plantar fascitis? I got cortisone shots for that, but they didn't help much. You can do stretching exercises as well. Google it and find some YouTube videoes to see some of the exercises.
