MISSION IMPOSSIBLE?

I am probably eating the best that I ever have, I ride my stationary bike about every night and I just started running. I have lost 12 pounds in a little over 3 weeks, I wonder if its water weight or if I am actually burning fat. That makes me only needing to loose 77 more pounds. Problem is I look in the mirror and think MISSION IMPOSSIBLE! Someone please tell me that running and eating veggies is going to melt the fat!!!! Tips are welcome!

It's not impossible! I've lost 68 pounds since December. I watch my calories and try to stay around 1500. Some days I do better. A few days, I've gone way over--holidays, birthday parties. Never over 2300, which is more or less maintenance level. I ride my exercise bike anywhere from 25 to 55 minutes. Early on, it was 45 to 55 minutes. Lately, I'm around 32 minutes. It's a great workout.

It's slow and steady, but those pounds will come come off.

    Keep up the good work.

It's not impossible if you keep going. But, be realistic. Your weight loss will slow...but you want it to. This will ensure you are losing fat and not muscle. The only thing that can stop you is you. Stay the course!

At the beginning of a lifestyle change (changing a bad diet), you lose a lot of water weight and a little fat. Be realistic about it. That rate is not going to last. The perfect rate is 1-2lbs per week. Some week you'll lose more and other time you'll stay at the same weight for several weeks (plateau). It's normal. Don't get discouraged. Keep at it.

Definately not Mission Impossible. You will most likely not continue to keep losing at that rate, but if you stick within your goals you will lose.

Most of the weight that I have lost, happened in the first 12 months. A couple of months ago I began eating back some exercise calories and it has been slow going since. The big plus is I have not gained. The really big plus is that I did not begin to exercise until I had been on MFP for 7 months. There is such an improvement in my knees that I am able to exercise daily now.

Keep up the good work you have done so far and you will not be disappointed.
