I haven't necessarily been eating the SAME calories for a year. I've just noticed that I've been at the same weight for a very long time and it didn't matter if I worked out really hard or didn't, or if I was eating under or right to my MFP calories, I hadn't experienced any weight loss for 25 days. So I wondered if maybe,…

I don't think I'm doing everything exactly right. That's why I asked for advice. I think that the people who responded gave me great advice and I intend to explore the information and adjust my diet accordingly to see if there is any change.

I was eating pretty much the same but not measuring or weighing anything. If anything, when I started paying attention to what I was eating, I realized that I was snacking more in the afternoons, after 2PM so I cut that out, as well as started weighing and measuring my portions. I got rid of my scale last year. But over…

Yes, I use measuring cups for food items that require measuring and weigh food items that need to weighed. For example, I measure cooked rice or cooking oil in a measuring cup but I WEIGH a slice of turkey. Is that incorrect?

Thanks for this information. It is appreciated. I deal with a lot of stress on a constant basis (abusive, manipulative X, custody issues). Plus, I'm trying to run my own business, raise children and be a good wife & partner. I did lose 30+ pounds about fifteen years ago on the Atkins diet and kept it off until I had my…

Yes, I cook at home a lot. I create a weekly menu for my family and then I enter my recipes into the recipe builder on MFP and I look at the caloric information on the items that I use in the recipe. I measure my specific portion using a scale that measures by the quarter ounce or I measure it out in measuring cups. So far…

Okay, I think I'm understanding this now. I'm already eating at a "maintenance" level since my body hasn't changed in over a year (probably longer - I've been at this weight for about three years, even with other weight loss attempts; My body always goes back to THIS weight). In looking ahead to reaching my goal weight: If…

Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying. This is the issue: I HAVE been eating at maintenance level this whole time - My weight is not changing, whether I eat TO my MFP number or way below MFP number. Should I start eating above the MFP number? Should I just stop tracking calories altogether? That doesn't work…

Yes, I mentioned in my above post that I've been taking body measurements. Over the past 25 days, there has been no change, even while exercising with the Bodyrock workouts for two weeks. Weight is the same. What can I do to change this? Do I need to do a metabolism reset?

All of your advice is really good. Thank you so much. I'm trying to look at this month as an "experiment" to see what I need to adjust in order to get some downward movement on the scale. I'm frustrated and I want to understand what I'm doing wrong. I want to lose this weight and I don't understand why my body is hanging…

I second what the above posters have said regarding breast feeding. I experienced the very same thing with both of my children. I did the same things: saw a lactation consultant, nursed every two-three hrs and pumped when I wasn't nursing, drank the tea, took supplements... I was exhausted. My first child was six weeks…

Thanks so much for all the advice! I do measure my foods... I'm a baker after all :) I have not been going by my TDEE, which is 1736 (little to no exercise). That's over 300 more calories than I'm taking in now! How could I lose weight by taking in more calories than I'm burning? Isn't it calories in, calories out? If I'm…

I'm 46 and I'm having the same problem in my weight loss journey. I came to MFP back in 2012. I was gung-ho and ready to do the work! I was eating at a deficit, exercising like a mad woman ,trying to shed 30 lbs. I went to get a physical to have my blood levels checked, just to see if there were any issues with my thyroid,…

Thanks so much for the replies and advice. I really appreciate it all. I will ditch the Advocare. I've been following the MFP calculation. I mentioned TDEE only because I noticed that it and the MFP calculation seemed to be really close after subtracting the 500 per day for weight loss. I realize I was mistaken. I still…

I'm 46 and frustrated with my metabolism too. I've tried to lose the same 30 lbs. three times in the last year. I'm working really hard this time around but trying to temper my expectations. Feel free to add me too!

As a mother, I can totally understand where you're coming from. I am 46 yrs. old and around 30 lbs. overweight. My husband is eight years younger than me and slim, he likes to be active and we have two young children. He addressed my weight gain like this: He told me that he loves me & he's attracted to me the way I am. He…

Hello! I'm 46, married, two kids (one 14, one almost 7). I'm a pro cake decorator (like that helps). I'm trying to lose 30 lbs. I started here earlier this year, but got discouraged & busy. I'm back and going full-throttle with Bodyrock workouts and weights. This is hard! Feel free to add me :)

I'm right there with you. I'm 46, married, with two kids - one 14, one 6 (almost 7). I lost 33 lbs. back before I had my 14 yr. old and kept it off by staying on a high protein/veg-based diet. It was after I had my daughter that I saw a change in my ability to lose weight - I was not losing. I assume it has a lot to do…

I've started doing the 30 Day Challenge videos on bodyrock.tv.com. They have lots of spot-specific exercises. I also really like how I can use items at home for weight & resistance. I've read that not a lot of people like Lisa Marie (the host), but I like her. She's inspiring and encouraging.

Logged in AND did my 50 min. circuit training program (with my husband's encouragement & my 6 yr. old joining in). Let the freak flag fly :)
-
Just finished 50 minutes of circuit training! No rest on Christmas!

You can add me! I'm 5'3.5" with 30 lbs to lose. I'd like to get down to 130.

Thanks everyone. elsinora, when I started tracking back in December, I lost five pounds in my first week, just eating differently - no exercise. Since then, I've gained back 1.5 pounds of that and am going nowhere. I'll give measuring a try but I'm skeptical. My clothes aren't fitting me any differently. I will say that…

I am working out four to five days a week: I take three or four 60-minute cardio-based classes such as Zumba, hip hop or step aerobics, and I take one 60-minute strength training/sculpting class (which has some cardio but not enough to bring my heart rate up to cardio class levels).
-
I can relate :/ I'll be looking at your post to see if any good advice comes across!
-
You're right, I think I would feel better kickboxing alone. Thank you for the link. I will take a look at it!
-
Ooh! Hot yoga! There's a place in town that offers those classes. Gotta try that:)
-
Bumping for more inspiration!

Will do!

Thanks for your reply. Wearing a heart rate monitor when I go there is a great idea. I have a 5 year old and we go to Pump It Up quite often. It's a workout - an hour's worth of inflatable jumping, climbing obstacle courses and running around after her. Whew! And thanks for your comment re: my avatar. Having a 5 yr. old…
