  • You want to try to eat as close to what your calorie intake is and not cut back. When people skip meals or eat less, their body goes into starvation mode (think of a long time ago our ancestors bodies would store fat because they didn't know where their next meal would come from) so you'll hang onto the weight.
  • Thanks! You're right- this is for the rest of my life and I do want to keep it off. I just hit 13 pounds to lose this week so I'll keep plugging away.
  • Thanks! I eat more protein that I really need. I'll need to try that with the elliptical. I sometimes put the resistance at 2 or 4 but quickly change it back down, lol.
  • It's almost a common thing for one or both members in a relationship to gain weight. :-) Don't despair! As for food, don't cut anything out- eat in moderation. Take any recipe (or favorites) and tweak them so they are a bit healthier. For instance- we love pancakes and waffles so my husband found a recipe for each. He…
  • Welcome, Johno! Tips: Figure out how many calories you need to consume and choose an exercise (or more) so that you don't get bored. Drink a lot of liquids- limit your coffee, sodas, alcohol It helps as a beginner (and any time) to have one cheat day but DON'T cut out foods. For instance, don't cut out pasta, breads, etc.…
  • You have to figure out if appliances is listed in the exercise list. If not, maybe choose something that is close enough to it. I wouldn't chose something if you don't exercise. I have 1 cheat day with food but not exercise. If I don't exercise, I keep a tight look at my calorie intake. Does that make sense?
  • This isn't good- your body will go into starvation mode because you eat only 1 to 2 meals a day. It will turn everything you eat into fat for later. Eat small meals through out the day and drink plenty of liquids like water. Find a hobby or a job where you'll be busy for awhile. Or simply eat every 3 hours, which might…
  • I don't know how to add anyone so please feel free to add me as your friend. We're all in this together!
  • Good luck! Let me know, please what works for you.
  • Hey! One tip: always drink a lot of water! Do you eat 3-5 small meals or 3 meals with snacks? Have you gotten how many calories you need to eat in order to lose or maintain your weight? Good luck!
  • I found that for me, I keep mental images of what I want to look like eventually (this is realistic, not something that is not attainable) and I do have 1 cheat day. I also want to wear pretty clothes (right now, I don't feel pretty enough to wear anything but jeans and a t shirt).
  • First, good job ladies! There are some things I noticed in the posts: first identify (if you can) what void you're trying to fill with food. Then find exercises that you love to do so you'll not dread them (I'm currently working on this one!). Next if you think you're hungry, try drinking a large glass of water and wait 30…
  • All good solutions! Glad you made a doc's appointment!! However, don't rule out perimenopause. Yes, 29 might be a bit early but I started with hot flashes/ night sweats when I was 32. I entered into it last year at 35. Of course, I most likely have hormonal issues, but can't afford a doc yet.
  • Are you maybe not getting enough liquids? A tip I heard about: drink a large glass of water when you feel hungry. Wait 30 minutes and if you still feel hungry, eat something small. Something I'm trying is to eat every 3 hours.
