I think you need to find a new doctor. I'm sure he knows his medical stuff, but I don't think he knows his people stuff. You went to him for help and he sure didn't give you any. Like others have said, I'm no doctor, but even I know that "food is food" is a load of hooey! I know how I feel after I eat fast food, and it is…

I weighed in at 149 this morning.

I'm Jennifer, I live near San Jose, California. I've lost about 25lbs over the last year, but I've been living on a plateau for a couple of months now, and I need to get re-focused and motivated. I'm hoping this group will keep me accountable.
-
I'd like to join. I've never joined a group like this, but I've been falling off and losing control and I need help getting back on track and keeping motivated. I have 20lbs I'd like to lose by June. So sign me up!

wow. this is really beautiful and it really touched me. I wish the same for you. Thanks. -Jennifer

I'd prefer to be either "athletic" or "voluptuous".

I usually start running on an empty stomach, but if I'm going more than 6 miles, I fuel up after 4 or 5 miles and then again around mile 8 or 9 depending on the length of my run. My fuel of choice is Gu with caffeine. It tends to give me a boost of energy when I start dragging.

mmmmm... can't wait to try it.

That was really funny, especially because it's something I think about as I run by 2 fire stations on my daily run! Unfortunately, they don't really hang outside much... But i'm always checking, just in case!

Last year I started just like you, running short distances and walking in between, and now in just a few weeks I'm going to run my first 1/2 marathon. I've run 6 10k's and my time keeps getting better. Like you, I wanted to run the whole thing, so when I trained for it instead of walking, I slowed down to a very slow run…

As someone else on MFP has said "if you bite it, you write it"

I did P90x for about 2 weeks, but my biggest problem with it was time. I'm currently training for a 1/2 marathon, so I spend anywhere from 1/2 hour to 3 hours running per day. Add to that 1 to 2 hours of P90x, and then I don't have much time for sleeping, eating or working. Oh, and forget about family and friends. I liked…

That sounds Awesome! I can't wait to try it.

Just finished week 1, and man! that YOGA kicked my A**. starting week 2 tomorrow. Hope I don't die.
-
OMG! that looks and sounds so amazing. I'm going to try it right away!

So, I'm kinda where you were last year. I started seriously running last December and my first 1/2 marathon will be in October. Just try to remember how training was when you were building up to that 1/2. You didn't just go from running 10k to 1/2. You need to gradually increase your distance. If you think that you're…

Ok! I got my before pics taken; got a HRM and figured out how to use it; and set up an anchor for my resistance bands. I'm all ready to go and I'm starting Sunday. Wish me luck and strength!

I usually exercise 5-6 days a week, but if I feel exhaused, like you do, then I listen to my body and give myself a rest day. Sometimes I'll give myself a rest week, and only work out 2-3 times, or I will do lighter exercises. I also may go over my calories on one or two days, but I always get right back to it. Don't let…

I've been wanting to start P90X, and I guess August is as good a time as any. I'll join you!
-
Your husband is crazy. you will be losing on average about 5-6lbs per month and that is not unrealistic at all. You can do it! just stick with it.

If you have a persistent cough, you should see a doctor. It may be bronchitis, which can be treated with antibiotics. Often there are no other symptoms except for a horrible hacking cough that makes you feel like you're going to cough your head off. I've had it before. Twice.
-
Oh, honey, you need a new doctor! I had a doctor like her once, though not half as bad. I went to her because I was having frequent bloody noses, and she put me on all sorts of pills for other things including a blood pressure medicine because even though my blood pressure wasn't high the medicine was a "preventative". I…

You're not crazy! I have people saying "oh, yeah, she's on a diet." all the time. I tell them I'm not on a diet, I'm just taking control. I choose to eat what I want to eat, and right now in this minute I want to eat healthy.
