Yep...ex smoker here. I was a pack and half to two packs a day. I quit on January 22, this year because I had became so sick that I couldn't smoke. I am trying to change my lifestyle, not smoke, learn what to eat with my stupid new diagnosis of diabetes. It's hard....you can do this!

Don't unfriend me! I rarely look at other people's food diaries. If I am reinforcing a negative behavior, I don't realize it. I will have to be more careful.

YEA YEA! I actually got called down for being online too much at work.....the only thing that saved me was the fact that it was MFP that I was logging into! LOL!

I am a T2 diabetic and have been struggling with my diagnosis and weight loss. I started out reading on diabetesforums.com about what diets work the best for T2's, and have been trying for low carb. Then I came here and starting reading, and thought, well lets try counting calories. Then I go to my CDE and she states that…

Yep, it's hard, but if I can do it anyone can! I quit smoking 01-22-13, and started back on MFP 21 days ago. Just hang in there, you CAN do this!
Try stepping down the sweetener 1 teaspoon at a time. You can get used to less and less. I used to make 1 gallon of iced tea with 1/4 cup sugar ... now I can't stand sweetened iced tea.
1/4 cup??? I used to make a gallon of sweet tea with 2 and 1/2 cups sugar! Of course I am in the south, LOL. Now I don't…

Good for you! Really, it's good for you! I quit on January 22nd this year. I had gotten very sick and wasn't even able to smoke, so the decision was made for me. Once I started feeling better I just didn't pick them up again. I still want one at times, but I fight it off.

I do applaud you for being able to limit the sodas! I was addicted to McDonald's sweet tea and cokes. I would go thru the drive thru EVERY morning for my large $0.99 cent soda. I can only imagine if I worked there and could have it free all day, I don't know if I would have been able to kick the habit. Good work!

Yes, some people haven't learned what should have been learned in kindergarten. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Thank you so much for posting this. TODAY, I will not fall prey to the M&M's that are lurking on my desk, that for some reason I can't seem to throw away.
-
I am. I ate M&M's today, not once but twice. Why would I do that? I know it's going to prolong the weight loss process, but there I went anyway.
