  • I can't wait to hit my target goal which hopefully isn't more than 3 months away then I can go back to a normal diet albeit making sure I don't go overboard!!
  • Feel free to add me as a friend if you like. I'm based in Hampshire.
  • As wholecat says just keep fruit in the house and remove the temptation. If you want it that bad and you're willing to head to the shops to go get it then it must be worth it!
  • Not sure how long you've been using MFP but I found that after a while (6 months maybe) you get to know portion sizes and what kind of calories different foods contain so you can estimate fairly accurately. In all honesty though, I think in the long run it'll be easier to log though and not go over rather than finding your…
  • Once you cut the garbage, reduce your sugar intake and salt intake (generally the case if you're eating junk food a lot) I found that my tastes became a lot more sensitive and now I don't need as much junk to feel like I've had some. Also natural foods such as fruit and veg taste a lot better.
  • Cutting down on carbs caused me to get really annoyed with everything. Think it's just a come down....
  • So the key to losing weight is to breathe out more?!? :-)
  • sure about Just Dance but I was using Dance Central and the calorie burn displayed on the game was far less than what I was actually burning. I invested in a polar heart rate monitor which has been far more accurate.
  • I can't believe anyone could say you don't get a decent intensity. I bought dance central and a polar heart rate monitor and was consistently up at the higher limit for me fo fat burning. Loads of fun too! It worked for me and I'm sure it'll work for you.
  • I was wondering if the break in exercise had done anything. I know they say you should have a break from training but I'm using the bike to commute to the train station daily. Walking is too far and I don't have a car and my motorbike is broken so don't get recovery time usually.
  • Indian veggie food is probably amongst the best in the world. The majority of the country are vegetarian owing to their religion and have been for hundreds (possibly thousands) of years. All food is generally very healthy, just avoid too much ghee and the sweets. The sweets WILL give you diabetes and heart problems eaten…
  • Hi! I've not really done the friends thing on here before even though I've been (intermittently) logging for a couple of years. Determined to make this the final time! Feel free to add me as a friend. Based on the Hampshire/Surrey border.
  • I know it doesn't sound like much but I've been trying to cycle to the train station and back each morning as part of my commute. Since the new year I've not managed to do a whole week yet so my Feb goal is to make sure that I cycle each day. I have waterproof over clothes so there's no reason!
  • Thanks and will do. I'm going to blog progress once I get the bike so keep your eyes peeled! Bit weird doing something like this for me. Have always seen two wheels (both pedal and motor) as a tool to have a bit of fun.
  • Thanks for the info everyone. Well, it's so far been my other half's bike which I came off a couple of weeks ago. Now waiting to get one on pay day that actually fits me! Will look at the road bikes and start saving for spring. The Dunwich Dynamo sounds interesting. May consider it as my mum only lives down the coast so…
  • If you're getting bored find something to do. Not sure if you're working or a student but if you're in the office and craving something out of boredom go for a walk and see a colleague about something rather than emailing them. If you're a student, get out, go for a walk (away from busy streets where there could be food…
  • Why worry about eating a little extra. I don't restrict myself from anything but make sure that if I indulge then I do the exercise to work it off. In this way I keep myself happy in body and mind :) What bugs me a lot about this site is that quite a few people seem to be punishing themselves. In my opinion it's all about…
  • Health reasons - high blood pressure, diabetes and heart problems all in the family I actually love exercise, just need to rearrange my life to make sure I can do it More energy for when I become a dad in a couple of months!!!!!
  • M&S mini strawberry tarts! Not too high in cals either :-)
  • Surprised you can't see any difference after 54lbs. I've lost 10 and can see a dramatic difference in belly and legs plus with extra exercise (cycling) muscle tone in my legs. Maybe you need to start taking pictures or something. If others are seeing the loss then it must be there!
  • I found the best way to not waste any food was to plan the weeks meals ahead. If in the supermarket the products were going to go bad before I (I say I, I mean my other half) cooked the meal then I'd wait to buy those ingredients later on in the week. Also saves a hell of a lot of money as you're not buying all the crap…
  • Welcome Madz!!! Interesting opinions here. I may start logging them as I am set to sedentary so I guess it wouldn't be factored in to my normal life. I guess it's time to start monitoring it! Thanks!
  • I have the Polar FT4. Does the job from what I can tell pretty well. Have managed to maintain my loss of 1lb a week using it so I'm happy. The FT7 wasn't too much more expensive but has a few more features. Kinda wish I'd splashed out now but hey ho.
  • Takeaway/eating out addict here! I think I'm in the A category here *to an extent*. As a food fan I would never deprive myself of anything I was craving. I might be able to get away with it for a little while then I'd just get miserable. Once I've chowed down on what I want I log it then use exercise to work it off during…
  • I hate the gym so only do things I find enjoyable. Cycling round the local woods is great. Seeing all sorts of different wildlife (geese, ducks, swans, deer) and scenery take my mind off of what I'm actually doing. Also finding big hills to cycle down is a lot of fun! I'm fiercely competitive. Tennis, table tennis, bowling…
  • Don't beat yourself up. Everyone has days where they indulge a little. Log it so you know why you haven't lost as much weight as expected and get back on the wagon. Remember, an additional 1200 cals for the week will only result in you losing about a third of a pound less than you expected which I don't see as a nightmare.
  • A lot of people may think that they're just being friendly just like the toddler offering to share their half eaten crisp with you (yuck!) Keep politely declining and leave it behind. You don't have to eat the cake! In our office people bring in cakes and other confectionary for birthdays. I find it a personal achievement…
  • Like others have said maybe the weight is coming off areas you can't really see that well in a picture or mirror. Sounds stupid but I'm thrilled as I'm getting my armpits back and the fat around my collar bone is disappearing. Not the most usual place to be happy with but hey ho! I figure if it goes from there I'll…
  • I was just going to post a topic up about this. I started on a 1250cal a day diet as recommended by MFP to lose 2lbs a week. I was doing enough exercise to burn off about 600cals a day and was consuming them back but wasn't losing anything. Came to the conclusion something wasn't right and figured my body was having issues…
