  • Congratulations on your great accomplishment
  • @Lady_Magenta congrats on your loss. 20 pounds is amazing. It looks like you have figured out your "why" and what works best for you. Making sure you have a sustainable plan is going to be the biggest thing you can do. I echo Surfergirl on the friends. I had a bunch when I first joined years ago, and the format was…
  • I have done it and continue to do so. I hit menopause naturally very early at 41. So 15 years ago. I gained and lost the same 7 to 10 pounds until 2023. In January 2023 I quit smoking after 37 years. And gained ten pounds in a month. I came back to MFP and spent a couple of weeks just logging to see a pattern and reading…
  • As someone who takes a statin, I would definitely say work on diet, weight, exercise first if you can and with the support of your doctor. I did that and lost some weight. Numbers barely moved and went on a low dose statin. Then quit smoking, started exercising regularly, weight was stable and numbers dropped…
  • Great start! Congratulations
  • @SummerSkier...absolutely. I am 55 and wore several on our 25th anniversary trip in Belize this spring. At 5'5" and currently 146, with a rounder belly than ever. I was not the youngest or thinest in my bikini by far. IMO, it is all about what each individual is comfortable in. We are judged enough in our lives to add…
  • Absolutely. I have noticed that more and more women are wearing bikinis regardless if age and body shape. Wish I had the same confidence to wear them in my late 30s and I do now in my late 50s. I find they are much more comfortable than a one piece for me. And I also wear swim leggings if I am at the beach or on a boat all…
  • I totally get that. I started to make it more like a chopped salad and am using as many other vegetables as I am greens. I also found when I blended the greens, things like kale/spring greens/shoots/leaf lettuces/romaine, I enjoy it a lot more. And with everything in season right now, it can't be beat. As we head into the…

  • Your smile says it all. So inspiring!!! Congratulations
  • Salads and wraps are my go to items. I generally make them when I am putting g together salad and veggies for dinner. I use a variety of greens, peppers, carrots, celery and cucumbers. Adding in whatever other vegetables are in season and in my kitchen. Foe protein, I'll use turkey or chicken in my wraps. I'll add those to…

  • I eat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt a lot for breakfast. Generally with a fruit and carb.
  • Today I am 295 days without a cigarette.
  • New to this thread/group. Almost 55 and back to MFP to lose the pounds I put on when I quit smoking in January. 5 more to go then into maintenance. Sometimes get super frustrated with how slow it is coming off, but know that is for the best. meg in northwestern Michigan (lower peninsula)
  • I remind myself how strong my body is, what it had accomplished and how far it had gotten me in 55 years. Then I think about what I have accomplished with my life and am grateful for that, even if my tummy is bigger than I want it to be right now.
  • I have had one for about three years. The viviomove 3S. Love it. Tracks my activities well and studies indicate they are one if the better options for calories burned, etc. That version I do not think would hold up well as a heavy equipment mechanic but they have others I think would.
  • Great to hear you are back at it SunnyCin!! Sorry that you are still fighting that bug. Hopefully being back in the gym and the nutrition plan will make it go away for good
  • Slow and steady wins the race is my tag line right now. Eating is going really well, but still having beer so....if I stopped that I would probably hit my goal weight be mud May. But, since I know I will have some beer or wine weekly, that is just a recipe for drop and add. I have changed some of the timing of what I am…
  • When you are sick, rest and comfort food are the best. You will get back to it as you start to feel better. If I have learned only one thing over the last three years, it is to remember to give myself some grace. What would you tell your best friend if she/he just told you what you wrote? Now, go look in the mirror and…

  • Thank you tj3084. Just had this conversation with my husband. I may weigh more than anytime we have been together, but the reality is I also feel better after quitting. So, if I have to be a little heavier, I will take it. Though I am going to fight like he'll to get the weight back down. And that is pure vanity and US…
  • Yikes, that is tough for sure. One thing is to remember to give yourself grace. You had a great girls weekend, probably doesn't happen every weekend. So get back to your program and don't beat yourself up. I have not had a medication that caused weight gain, so I unfortunately cannot personally speak to that. Several of my…

  • Hi tj3084. Your question made me go back and look an it was ironic. I was on MFP six years ago at the same starting weight as this time. So, kept it off until I quit smoking is a good sign I suppose. Anyhow, I lost 10 lbs in what looks like about 4 months. Good job on your loss since mid-February!! I have my cals set at…
  • I agree on the grace and movement!! My knees make it tough to do somethings so it is all about finding what I can do. Unfortunately, my faves are all summer month movements- SUP, swimming, hiking. I love to cross country ski and snow shoe, but our snow has been weird this year, so not much if that. Trying to oay attention…
  • Spot on @sdaphne I have to get up at 5 to get to work at me current (temp) job. There is no way I can drag my butt out of bed earlier than that to workout. I do my three day a week program the moment I get home on Tuesdays/Thursdays, then as soon as I get up Saturday. I spend time in the pool on the other days and walking…
  • Three times a week I do a DVD set called Fe Fit. Has some decent strength, toning, etc and a perfect place for me to get going after years of doing nothing. Also dealing with the heat in southern Nevada (cool down today to just over 100) so rather than biking I am in the pool six to seven days a week. Sometimes I do…
  • I have all the aches and pains associate with menopause and late 40s. I take a several vitamins and try to get some movement in everyday. I have a workout DVD set I love, and on the days my knees don't want to cooperate, I modify some of the movements. I had to learn that I cannot workout the same way I did in my early…
  • Happy Saturday everybody: Name: Meg Age: 48 Height: 5'6" Current Weight: 138.4 Goal Weight: 135-ish I am also a returning member, and had an original goal of 140. Now, after being encouraged by all of you here (Jessica!) and looking at so much great information on the forum, shooting to get around 135, with my maintenance…
  • This is so great!! Congrats on beating your goal, having fun with your grandchild and showing her great habits!

  • what about a more general "exercise 3/4/5 time per week" or log food daily type thing? That way, we check in regardless of whether we are using a tracker, gym, home workouts, etc?
  • My husband is in the room when I do my morning weigh-ins, so yes, he hears the number. And has cheered my loss and healthy lifestyle. We have bee together for almost 24 years, and he has loved me throughout regardless of size. I know his weight too. And ditto to everyone who has said we see each other naked...and in…
  • Right?? :) Going to wait and see where I am at and ask for one for our anniversary (June 26) or my birthday. If I start working again in my field will buy one asap. since so much of what I have done is a desk job. My activity level since I left my last job, then took this temp job at a mining site is off the charts for me!
