so, first up, I make my own peanut butter, & sometimes cashew nut butter; mostly I eat it on a toasted half a cinnamon & raisin bagel, sometimes wholemeal toast, sometimes just lick it off the spoon before a cup of coffee, delicious.

eat a bit more if you feel like you need to on gym days maybe, and maybe switch the weights & cardio, you'll lift stronger if you do that first.

life or death; my Dad died age 51, so did one of his brothers; cholesterol, diabetes, congenital heart disease, organ failure, fatty liver, malfunctioning kidneys; you name it, being overweight leads to it, so I took what I saw was the only way out, & quite frankly I feel 20 years younger :) good luck everybody.

I think you're going to find lots of different answers from lots of different people. I overate for 50 years so when I started to log I thought I'd never stop, as my default position is to overeat, it was a habit/ lifestyle. I reached maintenance after a year and kept logging for another 2 to stay where I'd got to. then I…

our central heating system went on the blink so we called the plumber who had fitted our new boiler & upgraded it all 3 years ago, he came today & his eyes nearly popped out of his head; "**** me Cliff, you're not ill are you??????", he said. I'm not sure someone thinking you're dying counts as an NSV but it felt like a…

NSV - my eyesight through my driving glasses has gone blurry so I went for an eye test today; turns out that after my weight loss my eyesight has improved! so I don't need that strength glasses! so I've got a sparkly new set of weaker lenses in my frames & the world looks good again; cool or what???
-
went to get my eyes tested today as present driving glasses had gone blurry; turns out weight loss had IMPROVED my eyesight!! got fitted with a new weaker strength pair - loving it!!

500 years ago life expectancy was 35-40 years, 100 years ago it had risen to the heady heights of 48 years, I'm 56 & these days life expectancy has risen to 75 years; for you 'youngsters' it'll be closer to 100, we're living longer because of modern medicine, (think that counts as science), I much prefer the thought of…

I'm happy to mentor 2 or 3 new folks I'm 56 & 3 years ago weighed 52lb more than I do now, I log on here every day, eat pretty clean, pay close attention to my macro's and exercise one form or another 6 days a week, mainly long distance walking & progressive weight training. IMO to do what we/ I have done you need…

I've been maintaining nearly 2 years after losing 52lb; it's a mixture of regular logging, regular exercise & knowing what my TDEE is and making sure my macro's are well balanced around it. oh, and this is a new way of life, not a diet, so I don't eat anything I don't like for the sake of it
-
batch cooking is good, as is a full fruit bowl & bags of unsalted mixed nuts; I just don't keep rubbish food in the house so I can't make a grab for it.

mine was a gradual build up; various thoughts; main one was that my Dad died aged 51 so I'd been thinking a long time to do it. My nephew had lost some weight, I asked him how, he said, 'eat a little less, exercise a little more', simple & controlable, I signed up to MFP the next day, 52 weeks, 52lb.

I went to a friend's funeral in Portugal recently, I used to live there for a while; a guy who I played a lot of golf with while there walked up & introduced himself and asked how I knew the deceased? "Hello Brian" I said, "it's me, Cliff", "f***** h***" came the reply "I'd never recognise you!!" loved it :)

I like this advice & would echo it, TDEE is personal & in my view very important to know; intake, exercise, routine etc is a lifestyle thing rather than a daily thing so taking your last months intake & dividing by 30 & adding back your weight loss is an excellent idea., then you can work out & control your daily deficit…

hi folks, I'm Cliff, I only just found this group, nice to be here & to meet you all. I'm 55yo from London, England. I've been doing the MFP thing for 2 1/2 years; it's the best thing I ever found, I did the deficit thing & lost 52lb in 52 weeks having been overweight for just about all my adult life. I've since been…
