Don't be obsessed with the scale number. If your clothes are looser and you feel more fit, keep doing what you are doing. The scale moves eventually.

@chamblisk I've seen that mentioned before, and it just seems so funny how people notice the draft before seeing it in the mirror!

Probably because I avoid looking in mirrors. Old habits die hard!

New PB mile equivalent for 1 hour on the elliptical yesterday. 6.63 miles, and the calorie count per machine (gross calories) was 936. I'm determined to hit 960 and sustain 16 calories per minute average for an hour. And on that machine, it might be tricky.

@E_Brault I'm starting to wonder if your scale is broken or you are just actually changing body composition that much without weight loss. Do you ever weigh multiple times in one day to see if you have large fluctuations through the day?

But all the NSVs count in my book, they become part of our motivation at times.

Yeah, I was going to post that the kitchen and bathroom scale are broken. Both are more than ten years old, but they aren't broken. Lol. But it would be a good excuse to buy the latest gizmo.

I have been see-sawing 4 pounds since Christmas. I do weigh myself occasionally at 5pm bc that is when I measure fat. I could do that tonight. All the conditions have to be right: I can't have a bunch of water, food, or coffee in my system - in order to do a fat test on my Tanika scale.

By the way, Robert, I think your goals are outrageous - way to show a newbie!!! So I hit and exceeded my 10 calories per minute on the treadmill today for 15 minutes - I burned 178 calories.

I know you are right, but part of me wants to drastically cut the calories like the doc did. I burned serious calories at the gym today. I want to have the energy to give it my all at the gym. It would not be fun to have any part of my body shut down bc I wasn't fueling it. Sure I get really frustrated, but I am not going to give up - thanks to MFPs.

I would never recommend the ketogenic diet I was on. I am still in a learning phase. I now realize that quick and easy is doable, but not sustainable - and that is why many gain it back. I have a vision for the lifestyle I want, which includes food and exercise. I just have to find the path that is uniquely me.

That is the right lesson, E_Brault! We are all on the same journey but we need to find our own path. What works great for one may be a total fail for another. Think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet. You have to mold yourself to fit the new you.

I sometimes do better with a little outrageous or crazy attached to my goals! :) And you will get there, it just takes time!

our central heating system went on the blink so we called the plumber who had fitted our new boiler & upgraded it all 3 years ago, he came today & his eyes nearly popped out of his head; "**** me Cliff, you're not ill are you??????", he said. I'm not sure someone thinking you're dying counts as an NSV but it felt like a backhanded one & I enjoyed it.

Compliment, indeed! I have had a couple of people quietly ask if I am alright. When I tell them I am fine, they have been able to more comfortably remark on my obvious weight loss.

Relish the compliments, even the weird ones.
I had someone ask me if I was losing weight "on purpose."

Love that! Sometimes, when I don't really want to have "the conversation" about weight loss, I just tell people about how healthy I'm eating and how much better I feel and let them think the loss is by accident. They generally don't/can't have any negative comments or opinions about that one or what size they think I should be.

Oh boy! I guess that will be something I have to gear up for. I got the "compliment" that I am thin enough by a family member. I am already starting to switch the conversation from food to exercise.

Small NSV, no longer feel the need to get "my money's worth" at buffets. I eat what I want and stop when I am full. My health is more important than the money.

Great NSV. Paying attention to what your body wants counts for everything.

That's an awesome NSV, Jen. I stop myself at the buffet through strength of will…

So I bought a new rain jacket so I have no real excuse to not walk/run on damp days. Bought an XXL (women's) from Eddie Bauer and just received it. Put it on, and was like...a touch tight but I am losing so that is cool. And then I realized I had a sweatshirt on underneath it. *little happy dance*
