Unfortunately over the Christmas holidays, the scale has been winning. Time to beat those numbers back.
I went from not being able to do 2 pull-ups to being able to do 10+ I will call that a bit of an nsv.

Maybe the scale didn't win so much if you are heavier and can do more pull ups. Pull-up gains like that require muscle gain.

I joined a gym! I feel like that is tantamount to my saying I am going back to college. I don't know why, but it feels so good to say I belong to a gym.

Good for you! Be confident, and don't give a thought to others fitness levels or attitudes, unless supportive. We all have our own path to travel.

I can't run a 10k, so you bet it counts. Great job.

Does this count? I have been wearing size 16 jeans way past the point of their fitting me. I keep cinching my belt tighter and tighter. I wouldn't buy a size 14 bc I didn't want to waste my money. My size 14 suits are feeling loose.

For the fun of it I put on a size 10 jeans. I got them over my rump, zippered them up and buttoned them. They really are too tight and if I sat down - an organ might explode bc they are low rise jeans. The scale hasn't budged much, but I have been measuring myself and I am losing inches! It is nice to know I am ebbing closer to my goals.

@E_Brault - it most definately counts! I am very "frustrated" because I have actually gone out, purchased new dress pants, needed to hem them ..... and ended up taking them back for a smaller size before I got it done. THREE times! (I hate to sew but I have short legs....even the petites need to come up or I walk on the bottoms) I guess that is a good thing in terms of the remodeling of my body but it is sure a pain for a non-shopper, non-sewer who lives an hour or more from a real shopping area. I have a nice pair hanging in the closet now which I will have to remember to take back the next time we go on a "road trip" to the city. Isn't it amazing what we can do? Congratulations on your upcoming new wardrobe!!

I love this NSV thread, because I want to be grateful for all the little changes I see.

I have lost 4 1/2 inches on my thighs and 4 inches off my waist.

But more than this - what I really want to post is: I went to Fleet Feet for a new pair of sneakers and the previous analysis, a couple of years ago, was that by being overweight it was throwing off my gait. I don't remember which way or how. All I knew was that I was on the verge of throwing off the alignment of my back, hips, knees and ankles.

So around last week, Fleet Feet did a new analysis and my gait is neutral. This is tremendous. I'm going to get old anyway and slowly my body will deteriorate - but I'm in no rush to get there!!!

Thanks to all who post here -- it's a great reminder that the number on the scale isn't the only indicator that the changes we make add up to better health and happiness!

NSV - my eyesight through my driving glasses has gone blurry so I went for an eye test today; turns out that after my weight loss my eyesight has improved! so I don't need that strength glasses! so I've got a sparkly new set of weaker lenses in my frames & the world looks good again; cool or what???

I've had the same thing happen, to the extent I've had to look in my contact case to figure out if I'm wearing them or not

Another odd thing post heart attack and weight loss/fitness fanatic; I used to have sinus infection trouble for a couple years. In fact, I was heading for a specialist appointment the morning my heart had other ideas. Since the pump rebuild, I've had zero sinus issues barely had a cold in two years. Dying briefly seems to be the trick, but you need to time it carefully. Too long brings other complications

I hadn't thought of it, but I haven't been sick since I lost weight, other than my stupid thyroid, no colds, flus, etc.

I'm still getting one cold a year, but they haven't really been bad at all! You guys are luckier than I am!!!

But, I do have a NSV today. I've been trying to run a little more every day since I can't swim right now and I need to do something for cardio. I've never really enjoyed running and I hate the treadmill (they call me "Tripper" at the gym so you can imagine why I hate it), so I've been running around the basketball court the 3 days a week I'm at the gym and running a little more every time. I've also been running when I'm out with the dog in short bursts.

Today, I went out without the dog and ran 2.1 miles of my 3.5 mile outing............that's not only a first, but it feels a little bit like a miracle! And I enjoyed it thanks to the song "The Dog Days are Gone" which I had on repeat the entire time......LOL

Been doing a lot of running on the treadmill and have been experiencing pain in my hip. After I workout, I have a hard time reaching down and putting a sock on my right foot. Well I just walked 4 miles in the snow and I took my right sock off and put it back on with very little pain. Hope this means my hip is getting better. PT"s call this an ADL (activities of daily living). I call it an NSV.

Hmmmm, I'd call it a tight hip flexor!!! Stretch that puppy out and foam roll it if you can!!! Go at a slower pace on the treadmill or wherever you run in the meantime.....

Check out hip flexor exercises and do them............It's a very common injury for runners......especially us older ones!!!

I stretch before and after running. I'll spend 30 mins in the pool doing stretches after running. I know it's tight and needs stretching, but I can't make it stretch overnight. It's been a process. I will add that I used to do carpets when I was younger and this right hip needs a makeover.

I just started adding running to my walk, so thanks for the info on the hip flexor exercises!
