  • What's your goal? There's no question that being extremely fit requires more concentrated work outs. But that doesn't mean that's your goal and that a less ambitious goal (have more energy, do more things with my family, whatever) isn't a worth goal--and a SUFFICIENT goal. Not everyone who walks for exercise wants or…
  • Here is some practical and not-easy advice, much of which you've already heard here. You can not tell an unreasonable person to respect you or to behave respectfully. You have to insist on it by your responses--not your words. These techniques work--they aren't easy. They're hard. They have to be used consistently EVERY…
  • The thing is, you're *already* alone. Your mom is a negative in your life, not a positive--she's not even neutral. Maybe cutting her off is the right answer, maybe boundaries and distance and a more controlled relationship is the right answer--but what is happening is not. Nobody said this is going to be easy. But one of…
  • Asking if you want to participate in ordering out can be viewed as friendly. This is a tough one to respond to because responding to rudeness is just hard. Polite people can be easily dealt with--rude jerks, not so easily. Some ideas, which require a quizzical look: "Did you really just ask me if I wanted to eat your…
  • Enell--I bought mine at a bra specialty store and it's a fantastic bra. (I was a 40or42 DD when I bought it)
  • I read this has your husband supporting you--and to be honest, your stepson being a selfish jerk. Your husband's "support" might have been over the top--but it sounds as if your stepson is over the top, as well. If it were me (and it's not), I'd quit answering his requests. Literally--one time, I might say, "I'm not baking…
  • I don't agree at all. If she told her stepson that *he* couldn't bake a cake, that might be an issue. Declining to bake a treat that she doesn't want and can't eat? It might be nice if she could without feeling tempted, but if she can't or doesn't want to, I don't see that as selfish at all.
  • Backpacks: who cares? Cashmere *is* nice to touch, as is silk, but neither would make me get involved or not get involved with someone. Watches: who cares? Gloves: who cares? Colorful: Many men could stand to use more color in their wardrobes, but again, it's not a reason to get or not get involved. More important things:…
  • DH wanted to lose weight when I started (and he has, but not as much as I have). One thing I do that does make a difference is I "plate" our food rather than serving family style. I measure everything and give him half again as much as I take for myself. He knows I'm doing this and is pleased about it. He has the ability…
  • You talk back to yourself the way you'd talk to your BFF if she talked that way about herself--loving, supportive, caring, respectfully. Self: <mean> You are so fat--your fat rolls over the top of your jeans. Self: <supportive> Hey! <smile> Those jeans didn't even fit a month ago--look how far you've come! Self: <mean>…
  • I probably have 4 or 5 a week, too, and I've lost 40 lbs. I don't usually have them for dinner, but I do have them for breakfast or lunch on work days. I don't always find them to be enough food, so I augment the breakfast ones with fresh fruit, and the lunch ones with fresh fruit and/or celery and carrots with hummus.
  • I did 2 sets of 12, with 8# weights. However, I don't have an exercise ball and couldn't do the hip one. I guess I need to stop at Target and pick one up!
  • I can't seem to get going early enough to do this in the morning. Did manage it tonight, though! I noticed some stiffness at work today when I was reaching for something on a shelf--I think I"ll really feel today's workout!
  • I did two sets of 12 with 8 lb weights--I think that'll be my default. I *tried* to use a weight with the leg lifts--gave it up quickly and even without a weight, they were really hard! My heart rate definitely climbed today!
  • Hi all! I just finished Day 1. I used 8 lb weights except for the Lateral Raises--I switched to 5s to those--and even that was really hard. It's funny how some are pretty easy--and others really are HARD. I am doing the Intermediate path--two sets of 12. Hope it was a great start for everyone today! --Beth Reminder link:…
  • I also created a group on here! I'm about to do my first day!
  • I'm here, too! I'm looking forward to starting tomorrow! I'll be starting with 8 lb weights. I think it'll be fun to check in with each other so we each are a cheering section for the others!
  • There appears to be an immediate correlation for WLS and remission in Type 2 Diabetes. The last thing I read about it was that "it needed more research". It appears to happen immediately after WLS, even before the patient has lost weight. One sad thing about this thread is getting such blatant evidence of how judgmental…
  • Agreed! 30+ lbs ago, I was a 40DD. I tried on a bunch of 'regular' sports bras and they didn't help at all. The sporting goods store near us didn't carry UnderArmour or similar bras in my size--and certainly none larger. I went to a specialty bra store that carred Enell (because I'd found references to it on the forums)…
  • Haters gonna hate? It sounds to me that you and your doctor are making a decision about what is best for your health. If you and your medical professionals think it is the right thing for you to do right now, then have faith that it is the right thing for *you* to do. I think a lot of people believe that what is right for…
  • I log beverages with calories. Yesterday it was an alcopop. Today it was a glass of orange juice. Normally, though, I drink diet soda or water. I sometimes log the water with the little glass. I hardly ever log the diet coke. I know some people log their meds/vitamins and I don't log those. Even if I take 25-50 calories a…
  • I went through my closet and drawers and a bunch of stuff is on my desk to give away. I have a lot of wearable shorts, but not much by the way of pants--I'm thought I had more in this size but I'm either missing a box of clothes or I gave them away. I can wear oversized tops for a while, but I'm going to mail order some…
  • Speak to yourself as you'd speak to a friend--and you'd never say that to a friend. My best guess is that you are not ugly at all, but I'll buy that you need to lose weight. Start here--start counting your calories and add exercise to your day. There are people here who work out 2 (or more) hours a day--but there are some…
  • I've lost track of comparisons at this point--what I do know is that I'm 1 lb from ONEderland!
  • You can't blame someone for issuing an invitation. Naked with Mr Happy should be limited to partners with whom a guy has a history. Walking naked into someone's room with a hard-on is rude, disrespectful, and slimy. I'd be inclined to kick is a** out--that is totally unacceptable behavior and I'd be really concerned about…
  • Enells are sized strangely. I found mine at a specialty bra store. Go on their website and find a location near you. The store I went to had other sports bras, but when I did jumping jacks in the dressing room, the Enell was the only one that kept me from bouncing uncomfortably.
  • Another vote for an Enell bra. It was worth every penny because it really works. Nothing else I tried on did.
  • I hit my 10% loss this week, too. Isn't it a great feeling? I took new pictures, but still feel huge :-(. BUT, 10% is enough to make a serious health difference, so I feel good about that!
  • 20 lbs in less than 2 months! That's awesome!
  • I see it in your face, especially your cheeks and chin. I see it in your neck. I see it in your abdomen, hips, thighs--you're doing great! eta: I looked again--and your upper arms!
