You should have an open and honest conversation with him. Communication is key.

For those of you who are using Olive Oil (even extra virgin Olive Oil) you should consider switching to something different. Olive oil is hugely calorific - switch to a low fat vinaigrette instead.

Completely agree with that post. I replied to a thread regarding a woman who had done a fantastic job of losing loads of weight - so much so that she looked like a different woman. I congratulated her and asked her why she had waited until she had encountered health problems to decide to lose weight. It was a genuine…

I agree. You need to log the squash because it will have a few calories in it and then log the water separately. I don't bother logging coffees under a particular meal as I have it black with a sweetener but the water counts! I fill up a 2L jug with squash and drink it throughout the day. I'd find it difficult to hit my…

I agree that you are likely to be consuming too few calories. If there is a valid reason that your doctor instructed you to stay at that level then so be it. When I first joined MFP at the start of the year, I was consuming 1200 calories per day and finding it easy to stay under that limit. I found that I'd lose a pound…

Wine is hugely calorific! A glass of wine would set you back 200 calories whereas a rum and diet coke is only 53! http://winefolly.com/update/calories-in-wine/

Thank you so much for starting this thread and for all of the men who have had the courage to post pictures of themselves. My other half has always been on the larger side and since the start of this year, has taken the decision to lose the weight. I have never seen him so motivated and he has already lost well over 14lbs…

What an interesting debate! Who would have thought that someone's choice to show/hide their food diary would lead this far?! From my perspective...I use MFP to log the calories I consume, my weight/measurements and exercise workouts. It is a tool that allows me to control the number of calories I have per day. I had never…

LOL! It's not even a lime...it's a kiwi...ignore me!

P.S. It's odd that you're on the lime section of your weight loss indicator. Once you have lost another pound, will you be having blueberry smoothies!?

But WHY carpetm?! Why spinach?! Is it solely to do with the amazing nutrients? Can't I just stick to having it with my dinner?
-
I have always wanted a magic bullet but live with my food processor. I don't understand why you would want to put spinach into a breakfast smoothie?! I struggle to have anything for breakfast and can just about cope with a smoothie made of banana, yoghurt, milk and cranberry juice! Am I missing something?! :ohwell:

Correct. Like me 1200 seemed to be slowing down weight loss whereas people with the same frame and exercise levels as me are eating 1500 calories and seeing a steady weight loss week on week.

Hi, I worked out the same information for myself yesterday evening as I was being told that 1200 calories per day would slow weight loss. Once you have worked out your TDEE, you should aim to reduce limit your daily calorie intake to between 80-85% of that figure. So try limiting your daily calorie intake to around 1900…

Thanks for all for your input on this. Yesterday, I found out my BMR and calculated what I should be consuming from a calorie perspective. In order to maintain my weight, I should consume 2226 calories per day. From what I have read, you should reduce your calorie intake by 15-20% in order to keep your metabolism running…

No, definitely not going back onto any quick fix diets any more...I plan to change for life! Hate exercise? Try Zumba! It's fab!

I'm completely onboard with this being a lifestyle change - I'm not in it for the short term and am enjoying the challenge  I honestly think that the fluctuations are associated with water retention which amongst other things can be due to the amount of salt in your food. Nothing in my house goes out of the kitchen…

*kitten* scales! I have read something about your muscles storing water and figured that it may be associated with that. Also that the 'weight gain' is because I don't have enough rest days (I tend to throw myself into anything I do so I've been exercising like a machine). Thanks very much.

I didn't know that you could set MFP to lose .5lbs a week! What it's telling me at the moment when I complete a diary entry is that I'll weigh 136lbs in 5 weeks if I continue to eat the way I do. However...it's been saying that since I started so the 5 weeks seems to be a moving target. You're right, I have only been doing…

I find your post laughable. At no point have I passed judgement - in actual fact, I complimented her and praise her for the difficult journey she has made. I simply asked a question which many people have found offensive (which has come as a great surprise to me). In direct response to your last sentence...read the first…

Interesting. After a 25 minute workout, my cross trainer informs me that I have burned over 500 calories (if only!). The calories on MFP for 25 minutes on an elliptical trainer are quite accurate for me.
