I think the Atkins 40 has been a great place to start for me. It is not as restrictive as the Atkins 20 or the Ideal Protein diet, and it's one I can stick to. Also, I know I can gradually add carbs back in once I get close to my goal. I have friends who have done so well on the really low/no carb diets, but it's not a fit…

741 today. I log every day - the only thing that keeps my eating semi under control.

Depends on your weight and fitness level. Generally apps are overestimating your burn. This. At my height and weight, the MFP app greatly overestimates my calories burned. I use a HRM.

Thanks! Great info!

I love the Kelly Coffey Meyer 30 Minutes to Fitness videos. If you have time constraints, like me, it's a great way to get in a good hard workout in 30 or so minutes. If you have more time, you can do up to an hour on her videos, and there are tons of videos to choose from.

This must have been typed by someone who does not speak English. WHA??? I was looking for info on epicondylitis, but can make neither heads or tails out of this.

This. Well said. I too "heard" some passive-aggressiveness in that she told you about the half and half AFTER you had eaten them. If she were supportive, she would have let you know beforehand.

I just use the calories for "horseback riding general," since the calories they give for horseback riding trotting/cantering seem very high. I know it's a rough guess, but....

Kelly Coffey Meyer videos are EXCELLENT. She has a website called Coffey Fit. I started doing Jillian Michaels and switched to her - so much better and not so many joint-ruining exercises. Good luck and enjoy!

Calling someone "dude," especially a woman. When someone says that around me, my opinion of their intelligence goes straight down.

Costco pumpkin streusel muffin. One muffin has almost 700 calories and oodles of fat and sugar. They taste SO good. I was so disappointed. Might as well have chocolate whipped cream cake.

I do Kelly Coffey Meyer 30 Minutes to Fitness. I must have at least 10 of her videos and I never get tired of her. She does a great workout and always gives alternate versions for injuries or if you're not quite up to the fitness level. There's not the ego involved as in the JM videos, and she's in great shape so is very…

Hahahahahahaha! Too funny. I get so tired of people telling me I HAVE to eat low carb. I have an acquaintance who keeps going low carb, losing weight, then going back to "normal" eating, gains it back, diets again low carb, loses weight, goes back to regular eating, gains it back, etc., etc.
-
Absolutely this! And this girl should know, since she has lost 94 lbs.! Wow! Just keep on your own course. :)

Check out Kelly Coffey Meyer's 30 Minutes to Fitness Series - you get WAY more done in the 30 minutes, and she's not got quite the ego as JM so a bit less annoying. I used to do the JM workouts, but I find the KCM workouts to be way more productive in much less time. Just a thought....

It has been an honor being your MFP friend and you have inspired me on way more than a few occasions! Thanks for your support and congratulations on the new you! I look forward to the day I can have the confidence to post my own pictures - not there yet, but hopefully one day! Thanks for your cheerful and inspiring support…

Thanks for taking the time to write it - finally something logical and understandable.

Always spell the word "lose" like this: "loose." It will make you look really smart. Don't lose weight. Loose weight.

Great article. Thanks for sharing.

Losing most of my "side veranda" and my belly bulge. I love that my shoulders look sculpted now too. Still 5 lbs. to go, but my body is definitely changing! :)
-
I love this! Exactly. If you are trying to eat a sustainable diet over the long term, you just can't get all wrapped up in "rules," especially ones like these, which change from week to week, day to day, minute to minute.
-
This! You'll need to change his food too.

Interested!

I've been at it a while and, although I've chosen to go a slower route, it has been the BEST plan/site/diet I've ever tried and the most successful for me. Best of luck to you. Stick with it! Remember that a bad day is just that - a bad day. You always get a clean slate the next day! Go, go, go!

I'm another one who has been simply counting calories and making sure I exercise - there are MANY days where I go in the "red" on carbs. I've been losing very slowly, but that has been my plan all along. Thankfully it is staying off and I am not starving on this so-called diet. Only a few more pounds to go!
-
That was a tough read for me too - and what an ego on that guy. Yuck. I think to each their own. I lift weights, but don't go super heavy and my body has completely changed over the past year - works for me. Having said that, I have increased my weights as I've gotten stronger, but never over 12 lb. dumbbells as I struggle…

This is all me here. My favorites are the mint Oreos. Oh, my. They are my biggest diet weakness!

I love this. I have been doing this (MFP) since JANUARY. I have lost 11 lbs. (goal is to lose 16), and people are just now starting to notice. They ask HOW DID YOU DO IT???!!! like I showed up today and lost 11 lbs. since yesterday. I say I just counted calories, watched what I ate and exercised. They look at me like I'm…

It took me a little under six months to lose my first 10, but I only had 15 to lose, and I went slowly but steadily. Now I feel like when I have a day I go over in calories that I'm not going to gain it all back. I truly feel that weight that comes off slowly stays off longer. I still have a few more pounds to go and…

I'm at 123, 5', 3", and, for me, the biggest weapon I have is patience. I decided THIS time I was going to NOT starve, just eat healthfully, but have treats too, and make sure I exercise. I started at 134, but started here at MFP at 133. My goal is 117. I have been doing this for 5 months, and I don't imagine I'll make my…
