  • If that is all you are eating for breakfast then it's not "healthy". You should be getting closer to 350 calories for a meal. The amount of sugar shouldn't concern you unless you are diabetic and then only if it caused your glucose to spike. Think about your whole day, what other sources of sugar are you consuming…
  • Fruit is always a good option, low in calories and no sugar. Veggies are another choice but they don't always satisfy the "sweet" crave.
  • Another substitute is to use baby food prunes in place of the oil, I have used applesauce in place of the oil but I don't know if it replaces the eggs as well. I have made a cake with angel food cake mix and a can of crushed pineapple. You would have to check for allergens in the cake mix though.
  • Subway does have some lower calorie options. Most stores have a list and they are 6" subs. You can also go on their website and check out calorie counts before you go. Most chain restaurants have nutritional information on the internet. If I'm going out I try to check before I go and have idea of what I'm going to choose.…
  • I was never a big breakfast eater, usually not eating anything. I developed gestational diabetes with my first child and was "forced" to get into the breakfast habit. I have a muesli recipe that I make up, basically 2 cups oatmeal and 1 cup low fat milk, then I can add about a tablespoon of honey or maple syrup, maybe a…
  • You can use ground turkey the same way you use hamburger although ground turkey is dryer so burgers need some help in the flavor department. I have used turkey burger in chili, spaghetti sauce, mix with hamburger for meat loaf, meat balls, just about anything.
  • It was recommended to me to drink a gallon of water a day. One way to track is to fill a gallon jug with water and make sure you are drinking from that jug throughout the day. Even though you are drinking green tea (which does count toward your water intake) you still need to drink some water plain. You can also try adding…
  • Lack of self control does not make a food evil. Yes, Nutella is high in fat and sugar but it you eat it in small amounts occasionally it's not that harmful, maybe even better than some other foods I can think of.
  • Apple slices or celery with hummus or peanut butter. Apple slices with cheese. Low-fat cottage cheese with fruit or a few sunflower seeds.
  • I found a "recipe" for a drink called "Kool Aid". It was tea made with a fruit flavored herbal tea that had 1 or 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar added to a gallon. Served over ice it was a fruity no calorie drink.
  • Try a little hummus with veggies or apples with nut butters. I, too eat lunch at work but have a refrigerator and microwave and do love cheese. I will take soup and warm it up to have with a salad or other veggies.
  • Most broth based soups are going to be low calorie, it depends upon what you put in them. Avoid a lot of noodles and dumplings, go for lots of veggies and a little meat and you will be good. There are lots of options for lower calorie cream based soups as well, just look around the internet.
  • No such thing as "calorie free" food. Water or chemical laden diet soda.
  • I was never a big breakfast eater except on weekends. I have been making a point of eating something for breakfast and it does help. I have found several recipes for overnight oatmeal, baked oatmeal, even pancakes and waffles with added proteins that are good. I can make most of these ahead of time and just grab out of the…
  • I was surprised but jerky is a high protein, low calorie item. I keep individual packs in my desk drawer along with 100 calorie packs of nuts, string cheese or mini babybel cheese (I have a small refrigerator at work). I will pick up packages of fruits and veggies to keep on hand as well. I was able to find single serving…
  • I primarily drink water but I understand the getting tired of the "blah" taste (or tastelessness). I also drink tea, cold with a little lemon or hot with a small bit of honey and lowfat milk. I have found if I make my ice tea with a couple bags of a flavored herbal tea it adds a little taste. I have also found several…
  • There is a place on MFP where you can enter your recipe. Once you have it calculates the nutritional information and calories per serving. I find that is much easier than trying to calculate how much of each ingredient per serving.
  • The taste of gin is just as bad to me.
  • You might try adding some yogurt to your oatmeal, that adds some protein. I make my oatmeal with milk instead of water which also adds a bit of protein. You can add some fresh fruit or a few nuts as well. If you are eating at 6 am it's not that unusual to start feeling hungry at 10.
  • String cheese sticks or mini babybel cheese are easy to carry around an don't really need refrigeration, peanut butter crackers or cheese crackers are easy and can be kept in the car. Usually when I use those I don't eat the whole package, they are awfully dry. Small pieces of fruit like apples, grapes, clementines…
  • If I am drinking hot tea I pour the hot water over the tea bag and let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on how strong you like it. I usually add a small amount of honey and low fat milk. I tried some of the flavored creamers but didn't care for them other than the sweet cream but that is rather high in calories.…
  • If you look online there are many recipes for making oatmeal, both old fashion oats and steele cut oats, over night or in large batches that can be warmed up each day. There are no-cook recipes for old-fashioned oats as well. You can test your BG after eating oatmeal and see if it has an adverse affect on you, everyone is…
  • Make sure you take something healthy that you can eat then pick and choose among the rest. I like to focus on the fruits and veggies and try to avoid the pastas and salads that are made with heavy dressings. If you end up eating a little more than you should, cut back on the next meal or just get back on the band wagon the…
  • You can certainly back log. Just writing down what you eat will help keep you aware. Try to make good choices and if you slip up a little, don't stress about it! Just get back on the band wagon when you get home. I had the same problem when my husband and I went to visit my step daughter last year. She doesn't fix…
  • Greek yogurt with fruit and a few nuts or granola mixed in. Oatmeal with yogurt. There are low fat cheeses out there that don't taste different than the full fat so you can still have cheese. I make a muesli of 2 cups oatmeal with 1 cup milk. Place in the refrigerator over night. I usually add a tablespoon or two of…
  • Congratulations on your success. It is hard work but you made it through this far!
  • I'm using the Bayer Contour. I had the Avia but my insurance wouldn't pay for the supplies. With the insurance I only pay $15 for 200 strips. I have only had to charge the battery once since I got it and find it very easy to use.
  • You can make them into a quiche. 5-6 eggs, a can of evaporated milk beaten together with whatever seasonings you like. I usually use salt and pepper, onion powder, perhaps some garlic powder, and a little nutmeg. Pour into a pie crust with veggies of your choice, left over meat, and a little cheese. Bake for about an hour,…

  • When I told my husband that my doctor would like to see me lose 75 lbs to help control my diabetes and high blood pressure, his response was "You'll look like a stick!" Since then I don't mention my weight lose plans, loses, etc. to him.
