  • Add fruit, I like banana or strawberries. Blueberries would be good too.
  • Malted milk eggs and black jelly beans.
  • I drink lots of water but sometimes I get tired of the tastelessness. I have added lime juice, lemon juice and cranberry juice to plain water for just a few calories it gives some flavor. Sparkling water works the same, I have also looked at some of the water flavorings, there are a few out there that do not have…
  • My doctor recommended melatonin. She said to use the kind that dissolves in your mouth, not the tablets. It seems to be helping some.
  • Greek yogurt with strawberries and granola. It's a high protein snack.
  • I'd been half heartedly trying to lose weight for years, I was going to hit 40, then 50. I was getting remarried, etc. When I went from being prediabetic to full blown diabetic and was put on insulin, I knew it was time to get serious. I had a new husband and we wanted to travel, and a grandbaby on the way. I want to live…
  • If you allow yourself a little treat every now and then, work it into your daily allowance of calories, you will feel less tortured and deprived. Even if you occasionally go over your limit, in the grand scheme of things it won't hurt you. If you continue to feel that this is punishment, it's too easy to give up. Hang in…
  • Yes, work it into your daily allowance and enjoy yourself. Are you never going to have cake for the rest of your life? Not having some can make you feel deprived. If it makes you feel better, have a smaller piece.
  • I use the recipes under the food tab. Type in the ingredients for the entire dish, tell it how many servings, and it will give you the number of calories per serving. I think you are making this much more difficult than it has to be.
  • eggs, low-fat milk, Fage 0% Greek Yogurt, cheese
  • I don't think it was necessary to add the guilt trip to the forum. There are times and situations when everyone eats something that doesn't necessarily fit in with there goals but it doesn't mean they are a failure!
  • Lately I have found that if I switch up my breakfast and morning snack it helps. I will have half a grapefruit with avocado toast or a mini muffin with a bit of light cream cheese before I go to work and take my muesli and yogurt or overnight oatmeal to work and have it as my snack. I don't feel much like eating when I get…
  • Looks good but with that many calories I would have it as a brunch. That is over a third of my daily calories.
  • On another note, if you are trying to include breakfast into your routine and having trouble, look into some "make ahead" breakfasts. That way you can just grab one portion in the morning and your are off. This was one area I had trouble with and had to make a conscious effort to start doing.
  • Do you have a slow cooker? There are hundreds of recipes for the slow cooker where you put the ingredients in the cooker in the morning and you have a hot meal that night. There is usually enough for more than one meal. Make a big salad, without the dressing and take that for your lunch. Add some meat and/or cheese and the…
  • Why would anyone eat something that doesn't taste good. I would much rather have a little bit of the real thing that tastes good than a whole bunch of something that is "0 calories" but doesn't taste that good. Food should be enjoyed.
  • You can also make individual pizza with an English muffin half and what ever toppings you like. It's a little like deep dish pizza. I got the recipe from a friend who was on weight watchers.
  • I still eat with him but I really control my portions. If he serves up the meal and I think it's too much, I put some of it back, especially the potatoes and pasta. If he makes tacos or burritos I will eat the filling with more lettuce and make a salad out of it, tortillas have way to many calories and carbs for me.
  • 113 today, not bad since I forgot to check yesterday and didn't get my insulin. I thought it would be higher!
  • My husband had taken over cooking dinner most nights. Unfortunately he is not necessarily a great cook, he fries just about everything. I have compensated by being very careful of what I eat at breakfast, lunch and snacks. I have much smaller portions of whatever he fixes and, often make a small salad or additional…
  • The headaches are from caffine withdrawal. If you can bear with them for a few days they will go away.
  • I think we all have days like that, as long as they are the exception rather than then rule you will still meet your goal!

  • I have struggled with that as well. I try to get whole wheat or whole grain breads but I find the calorie count is really high on just about all bread. I have recently found a flax seed bread that is only 50 calories a slice but it is very dry and doesn't make a good sandwich. I have tried to find bread that is high in…
  • There are several options, you can try whole wheat pasta, spaghetti squash, or other vegetables. I personally did not find any of them satisfactory because of the change in flavor. If I have pasta for a meal then I try to curb the amount of carbs I eat the rest of the day. I'm diabetic so I need to watch the amount of…

  • I have bad knees as well and I have found water aerobics to be less stressful on the knees. It is fun too. You might try walking on a tread mill or stationary bicycling. I would stay away from the stair stepper, it was really hard on the knees. The most important thing is to find something you enjoy, or two or three things…
  • I try to keep my snacks around 150 calories. Most days I don't have all three snacks. If I have a lighter breakfast I may have a heavier snack in the morning. Overall, I just try to stay within my total daily calorie count or a little under.
  • Apple cider. White vinegar may work as well but it is much stronger in taste.
  • I have a feeling until he has another health crisis, he is not going to change. I just continue doing what I'm doing and cut back on the things he makes that aren't good for me. I am keeping a lot of salad fixings to add to what he makes so I'm not starving myself in the evenings.
  • I can't figure out why anyone would say that swimming isn't good for weight loss. You are burning calories when you swim and toning muscles is a good thing. If you enjoy it I would continue, especially if you find it relieves stress. Since you are doing other types of exercise as well you should be getting a good balance.…
  • I wouldn't say the calories from a potato are empty, it's what you put on them that drives the calorie count up. A medium potato has 163 calories but has 4.7 grams of fiber, 70% of your vitamin C and other nutrients. It's once you add the butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, or whatever that adds to the calories.
