It is most likely an inflamed tendon(not missing cartilage) that is making the noises google Chondromalacia. Of course if you had a knee injury and resulting surgery then this is not likely the case Runners knee problems are often caused by instability issues in the foot or hips. Sometimes by tight or weak quads. Best…

One of the major factors to improving your running performance via lifting is to first identify weaknesses. It is natural to train to our strengths, but the best improvements are made by focusing on weaknesses. Many runners have developed weaknsses in certain areas of the body that cause them to be less efficient or get…

I have never seen a plan for any distance that didn't include a taper. The length of said taper / rest period is dependant on the volume of training occurring prior to the race. So for a marathon you would start your taper 2-3 weeks out from the race, For a 10K you would cut back a few days prior to the race. I would…

I have done a few sections but never a through hike. That first section is a tough one... it is a long ways from the damn to your next water source. I would like to try to bike-pack a few sections this year. Feel free to add me and post when you are going out. I am always up for a good hike.

just for ease: Instead of packing a sleeping bag, stove ect for training weigh. I use two liter bottles filled with sand and water. Then stuff a pillow in so the weight stays close to my back. Sometimes I carry a couple with just water so I can pour them out and lessen the load.

I would absolutely eat!! The most critical thing is to not do anything different on race day than you are on your long runs. I would try eating breakfast 2-2.5 hours before your long runs. Then having a gel or a sports drink about 15 minutes before the run.

Scrambling is the most fun type of climbing IMHO. I get out as often as possible

Fact chuck norris shaved his beard and grew breasts so that his opponents would be more humiliated by being beaten up by an elderly lady

chuck norris doesn't grow a beard, he gives hair permission to exist on his face

Whether or not you need specific shoes depends on the trail. Trail running shoes usually have more aggressive tread. Some models are water proof, some have extra protection for pounding down hill or rock plates to stop you from killing your foot on a rock.

Sorry for your loss!! I lost a brother, and I had issues feeling exhausted for weeks afterwords. I didn't sleep well for months. I actually ended up getting meds from my doctor to help. Deal with the two issues separately. For the most part life events, can't be an excuse for not changing behavior. Mainly because there is…

Could be all kinds of things.... some common causes are * week core * poor form * tight hamstrings * tight glutes * tight hipflexors * hips not being properly aligned * actual structural problem with your back. Trigger points for low back pain are often in the glutes (especially on the sides) try massaging here you need to…

I did it a couple of years ago. It is a good conditioning program. I still do plyo occasionally. I have seen much better strength, and definition from a standard strength training program with heavier weights.
-
I have never had a serious flareup of that. The standard advice is usually foam roller + rest. Best of luck injuries suck

What works the best for me is to concentrate on deep breaths with forceful pursed lip exhales. It also helps to dig a couple of fingers into the abs where the stich is while you are breathing out. When I first started running I used to get really bad side stiches every time. they SUCK!! I rarely get them now. Also not…

That is a great improvement in RHR!! I agree the change in RHR is a good indicator of cardiac fitness

There is certainly diminishing returns, and I would say you have long since passed that point. Try adding some short very intense days (40 minutes or so), and some real strength training days. Diet is likely the source of lack of weight loss. You should be creating quite the deficit with that much working out

230 is almost certainly a malfunction you would be dead or at least feel dead at that heart rate. Depends on the day recovery 120-145 long run / bike 150-160 shorter runs - 160-165 tempo runs - 165-175 intervals -180-190
