  • Food scale is my must have. I just ordered the Oxo spiralizer, but expect that to be an occasional thing.
  • I love them - nicely portion controlled, and good variety of sweet & savory. I believe I am grandfathered in at $6 with shipping, and I think they're worth it. The chili honey almonds and all the flapjacks are my favorites. The banana dippers are yummy too.
  • Not sure why you would change anything if you're planning on getting two sizes anyway. Keep doing what you're doing if it's working! And have a blast at the hen night and the wedding. BTW - that dress is adorable. I'm sure you'll look fabulous in it.
  • I like Designer Whey French Vanilla - it's not too expensive at Amazon, and my local Trader Joe's sells it too.
  • I am in to lose if you're still taking people. :)
  • I got comments at 10-15 lbs - the fat comes off my face first. I've been lifting too, so while I am still 20 lbs from my goal weight, I get a lot of comments about where those lbs are going to come from. I'm by no means skinny, but the excess is distributed pretty evenly, and I'm developing good muscle. I'll take what I…
  • Female, 5'4", 150lbs - 1200. However, I am doing the TDEE method right now as a trial, and so I manually set the goal to 1350 (as I am not eating back exercise calories). The 1350 is a little aggressive, so I don't get too upset if I am a little over.
  • As you lose weight, your BMR will decrease, and you need fewer calories to maintain. MFP will requiz you, and set your calories so that you can still shoot to lose those 2 a week. Or get to the happy/sad day when you can only shoot to lose 1lb a week or 0.8 lbs a week because <1200 / day target is unhealthy.
  • I'm 5'3" and 150 ... I can work out every single day for an hour, but if I don't religiously track what I eat, I don't lose anything (or worse, I gain a little). I love to cook and I love to eat and drink delicious things, and portion sizes and snacks creep up on me. You'll get all kinds of advice here ... you have to…
  • I love my fitbit one ... I clip it on either my waistband or my bra or throw it in a pocket, depending on what I am wearing. I've found it pretty accurate for steps and distance. I like the little motivational messages on the One, and the fact that it has a display. I actually got my husband one a few months ago (he is an…
  • Vitamix! And you can get a 32oz pitcher for it (which helps it fit under my cabinets).
  • I also buy frozen sliced fruit at the grocery store to use in smoothies (trader joes has some great varieties like frozen mango and pineapple and berry blends), and if I have bananas that are getting overripe, I just stick them in a bag and put them in the freezer. If I am really on the ball, I weigh the preportioned bags…
  • Similar to Pink Coconut, figuring out the "why" helped me out as well. I had some really unflattering pictures as motivation, and that helped for a while. And I also read the Beck Diet Solution. which challenges you to write down the reasons you want to lose weight and review them every day (among a lot of other helpful…
  • You also may want to try some different instructors and classes. Some are better at describing and demonstrating the poses than others ... You may also want to let them know that you're new to yoga before class so that they can keep a closer eye on your form through the class. I started yoga about two years ago and love…
  • I either put my fitbit in a pocket or clip it to the front of my bra. The latter helps when wearing something without pockets (obviously), but it also helps that I can see it when I change clothes so that I don't accidentally leave it in that pocket. I've found my one to be pretty accurate in general. It's much harder to…
  • I'm signed up for the Tough Mudder New England on May 31. I'm also interested to hear what people are doing for training.
  • @elkahallick - I was going to contribute the exact same word for @darkon. For you, Ripped.
  • Folks here are right - There's a lot of natural fluctuation that only time will even out. I also looked at your diary and you eat a lot of processed foods that tend to be high sodium - that might also contribute to some water retention. You also have a lot of quick adds and a few blank days which might contribute. If…
  • Are you sure you're taking the measurement in exactly the same place? I lost 10 lbs in between my last set of measurements but my calf was a half inch bigger when I re-measured. However, my boots now zip without effort, so I know they're smaller - ergo, user error with the measuring tape. I'll also second the resistance…
  • Agree with going to a running store. A lot of cities also have running clubs which are often sponsored by or at least can point you to the running store if you don't know of one. Personally, I love my Brooks for running. I got fitted at my local store to manage my light overpronation, and they were well worth the trouble.
  • Love my fitbit one. I have had it since January, and use it every day. I'm honestly sad when I forget it.
  • And not veg, but the smoked prosciutto is uh-may-zing.
  • The roasted red pepper and tomato soup is a staple at my house. Also love the marinara, frozen berries, almond butter, and and ...
  • I'm a fan as well, and when we ended up with a surplus of spicy peppers in the garden, I tried this: http://www.americastestkitchenfeed.com/do-it-yourself/2011/10/how-to-make-sriracha/ There's some effort involved, but the results are fiery, yet yummy. Pro tips: decrease the sugar by half (it's too sweet for me as…
  • I've been adding unflavored whey protein to morning smoothies. That way I get fruit, milk, protein (and sometimes oatmeal) in first thing in the morning. I can drink it while I get ready, and I don't get hungry until lunch.
  • You forgot to note to only buy "clean" ice cream and ketones.
  • I don't typically snack during the day. I like actual meals, and if I graze, I usually end up overeating because I still want to have a "real" dinner. I also find that if I snack a lot (say, when I am at a conference or meeting), I typically don't journal everything - it's too hard to remember every piece of crudite or…
  • I set mine to sedentary and use the Fitbit adjustment. I usually don't sync until the evening, but I generally have a good idea what it will be based on steps and use that for meal planning during the day (with the reality check being the sync before dinner). It's worked pretty well for me so far - got my fitbit in January.
  • I'm also a fan of the Amy's meals. The garden vegetable lasagna is my all time favorite, and I also like the tamales and pretty much any of the burritos. The tofu teriyaki bowl is also yummy. I do cook a lot, but I usually have second meals for dinner the next night, not for lunch. PS - A plea for those of us who share a…
