I have followed both, and I go back and forth between the two based on what my goals are. This might get a bit long-winded, I apologize, but I feel like my experience might help you :) I went on WW when I weighed 217 lbs. It was a great, INVALUABLE tool to my initial weight loss. I lost 50-60 lbs with it, doing just a…

Insanity is repetitive though! I love it, but if you're getting bored by workouts, you're probably going to get bored by Insanity. I suggest going over to Bob Harper's site and buying a few of his DVD's. They are on sale for $5 now I think, so you can get a few to rotate out. They are HARD and they WORK.

I can see the validity in both. I struggle with Kit Kat bars. I know, it's weird. But when I'm sitting at work, I KNOW I can go get one out of the vending machine. It becomes an obsession, and if I don't restrict it, I'll probably eat two, so know I'm no longer allowed to have Kit Kat bars. End. I think it depends on how…

The thing is, as long as you are eating natural nut butters and unsalted nuts, you're getting healthy fats, and you don't need much to get the protein boost -- my favorite (Sunflower Seed Butter) has 8 grams of protein per serving. Even half a serving on my protein pancake ends up giving me a protein boost for only 100…

There are a MILLION non-meat protein sources. I'll name just a few: Beans (chickpeas are my favorite) Tofu Tempeh Seitan Quinoa (one of the only "grains" that is also a complete protein) Protein powder (in a smoothie - yum!) Eggs (1 whole + 2 whites is an amazing amount of protein -- mixed w/ grilled veggies, about the…

You need to get inspired again. You know that you shouldn't eat this sandwich -- you said that the last time, it was easy, so you know all the things that have been said here: Smaller portion sizes, cutting out the fatty extras, just skipping the sandwich all together. But I think you're problem is that you've lost that…

I've recently mastered the art of the protein pancake. It's all about flipping it at the right time. If you do it right, it's perfect. Here's my recipe, which is similar to some I've seen here: 1 banana, mashed very well 1/4 c. egg whites (I use the kind in the carton) 1 tbsp flax meal 1/2 tbsp chia seeds 1 scoop vanilla…

This is how I feel about it too, this could have come from my own mouth. I just wanted to second this, it's perfect.

Last time I checked my bf%, I was at about 25%. I want to be 22%, but I don't know if I have the nutritional discipline for this. I like alcoholic beverages on the weekends, and I DO eat carbs. I'm trying to spend my weeks being really focused on keeping my macros where they should be and giving myself a bit of slack on…

This topic comes up again and again, and it's always the same. Some people are raving about, and some people scream "Scam!" It's like this. It's a pretty expensive shake, but it's healthy. If you can afford it, and you think it will be a healthful choice for you, go for it. If not, it's easy enough to buy your own protein…

When I'm running, these three songs will get me sprinting every time: Run this Town by JayZ, Kanye, Rhianna Shake ya Tailfeather by Nelly Dog Days are Over by Florence and the Machine The connection is that they all talk about running as fast as you can or not giving up, I just turn them on at the end of a long run and…

I have THE most annoying co-worker. She is always HOVERING over my desk. Her office is just down the hall from mine and we share a printer, so every time she prints something, she stops at my desk and USES it to straighten her papers and then uses my stapler, even though her desk and stapler are only steps away. She always…

That Call Me Maybe song, which I've heard a TOTAL of one time has been stuck in my head for days, despite listening to music every day since.

Pure cocoa butter 2x a day, Mederma and a tan (spray tan!!) will lighten them considerably. But like everyone else said, just go with it.

I know people scold for weighing daily or even 2x daily, but I don't think it's the end of the world as long as you realize what's going on. Like everyone has said, the scale is going to fluctuate a lot depending on the day, the time of the month, etc. I can "gain" up to 5 pounds in one day. Like others have said, your…

THIS!! Last time I went, I swore I was going to get NO rice and NO naan. I succeeded in skipping the rice, but had two small pieces of naan. I mean, come on, I'm not super woman.

I say if it's a treat meal, don't worry about it, but that's just me. One meal will never derail your goals. Go for an extra walk or add 30 minutes to a workout and you'll be fine. Also, chicken tikka masala is delicious. I'd pick Indian as my treat meal every day.

I have an HTC Evo 4G, which is also massive and I have an armband that sort of works, but the plastic sleeve gets all wet from condensation when it's in there, so I started wearing two sports bras and tucking it between the layers of fabric. I know it sounds crazy, but it works and my phone stays dry. I've been doing it…

What I do, is I set MFP to track Fat, and Saturated Fat. I obviously try to avoid Trans Fats all together. I aim to stay under on my saturated fat but don't worry too much about the other Fat category, because I know most of it is coming from "good" fat sources.

As everyone said before me, women do not get 'bulky' by lifting heavy weights.

That's incredible!!

This is totally crazy, because I'm having burgers for dinner tonight!! No joke. I haven't eaten it yet, but this is what it will consist of: Black bean burger Mozzarella cheese Whole wheat bun dijon mustard. Amazing, and totally w/in my calorie goal. Oh! And baked french fries on the side (just a few, balanced out with a…

A lot of things (like Shakeology) that are fortified with vitamins and minerals, you aren't actually absorbing a lot of those vitamins and minerals because your body can only absorb so much of each at a time. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with this sort of thing, but I don't think anyone should rely on…

This is awesome. I try very hard not to take my physical ability for granted! I take every opportunity to use my strength. I love being strong. A friend needed help carrying a heavy box up the stairs the other day and nobody volunteered to help, I jumped at the chance!

I get bored at work too! I can't imagine there is anyone in this world who doesn't once in a while -- every job has a down time (I guess unless you're an air traffic controller). I do the same thing though. The only thing I suggest is bringing healthy snacks. I bring tons of raw fruit and veggies as a snack (plan ahead!)…

Height: 5'3" Age: 34 SW: 217 (!) CW: 148 (I've been here for a whiiiiiilllllleee) GW: 130-135 I'm pretty muscular, so even though I'm close to 150, I wear a size 6-8. I don't think I could go much below 130, even if I tried. I'm doubting I can get below 145 at this point --- my lowest weight was 141, last summer, but I…

The BEST pre-workout snack!

Good grief. Sometimes the posts on here are so rude. By "elongate" of course I don't mean make longer. I mean stretch out and make them APPEAR longer. Weight training makes the muscles fat and squat. Stretching them will "elongate" them. So, you're right, but you're also kind of a jerk :)

Eating before exercise is controversial: Some folks swear by it, some folks swear it's better to wait. If I'm working out for an hour or less, I don't worry about "fueling" my workout, but if I'm planning a long run or two back-to-back classes at the gym, I'll usually have a piece of toast with peanut butter and half a…

You can, however, elongate your MUSCLES and I think that's what the OP meant. Weight training makes your muscles bulky, stretching and body weight exercises elongate your muscles.
